hansangb I got mine working this morning. Was gonna video the disconnects but it decided to work. I had to use USB 2.0 for sensorr but it worked great. I agree I am gonna keep it just for DCS the extra framerate is significant especially in Multiplayer. According to Oculus if you open it you cant return it even if it doesn't work :(

OK so I have had an expensive morning. Took your replies on board. USb 3.0 for Headset USB2.0 for Sensor It all decided to work :) Framerates are way better than Vive especially in Multiplayer. Graphics card usage is up to 35% ( A 30% increase than under Vive ) FOV is not as good and cockpits are all larger tho appear to be a negligable amount clearer. Gonna Keep it now, the extra framrate is worth the extra. Hopefully the Devs will sort it for Vive players.

Hangsangb Mine arrived and it gave me intermittent connection on hdmi. I talked to them and they are saying I need to run a whole load of tests. He said it may need a new lead (sounds like your problem). I told them I want to return it for a refund and they are saying I cant even tho it doesnt work. I feel your pain you should have stuck with the Vive. Andy Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Posted elsewhere but just to add Just received My CV1 it doesn't like my founder edition 1080 either intermittent connections. See a lot of this going on on the boards :(

Thanks Guys. I am not gonna do a reinstall, and yes it whined about my old USB but worked for 30 mins as I said. If it was just USB I would just get another card but HDMI is another matter.

FWIW I installed a GTX 1080 today. Max GPU usage I see is 25% Max CPU Usage 70% Skatezilla has an explanation out there but If you buy a GTX 1080 upgrade vs a GTX 980 I see no perceptible difference. My GPU usage has just dropped from 45% to 25% Please see my later post . Upon more testing there was some unexpected bonuses

OK so after months of waiting the Rift arrived. I installed a GTX 1080 and a USB3.0 card USB 3.0 card doesn't work Rift connected fine for 20 mins while I was faffing then started disconnecting from the HDMI. It would connect for a minute then disconnect. Kept doing this continuously. I had DK2 it was great I have Vive it is great. Went online and saw a lot of people having similar problems. I mailed Oculus and have asked to return it for a refund. I figure I could buy a whole new Computer just to run it but don't want to with the Vive running fine. Very disappointed I thought being CV1 it would be more plug and play than DK2 but appears to be quite the opposite. If they had not removed the DK2 IPD setting form Home I would have kept the DK2. But I was getting a headache really quick since its removal. In summary the HDMI problem is really off putting so I am going to give up and return it.

Anyone is playing MP in VR without major stutters?
WindyTX replied to npole's topic in Virtual Reality
Fwiw I find the F15c seems to be the worse Aircraft for VR . I dont know why but the 104 server was not too bad if I was in a different Aircraft. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk -
Check the clock on your graphics card. It would appear that Oculus Home isputting the card clock down to 500mhz Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Thanks for the review I was just abot to canx my Rift as I already have a vive. Guess I will end up with both now. Wife and Family live the vive so no way I can lose the room scale stuff, shame ;) Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

But in real life if the air is really dry there are virtually no wingtip vortices. I guess we ask the devs to vary the vortices according to the weather. ;) Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

With a semi active missile if you lock your radar to the noise jamming you will basically have good azimuth and elevation. The TD circle should be over the target if you pull it live into the hud. If the target happens to be low level you can use your altitude to work out when it is in range and take a valid shot. Depending on the missiles programming and the target velocity the jamming may lower the pk however the missile will certainly track the ill reflection from the target. Some missiles will even HOJ themselves. Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Great Job thanks.

The Hawk is definitely too big for sure I reported it as a bug. The Hawk cockpit is really tight compared to an A-10 or F15 but it is the only one that I really noticed the difference from Reality. The rest feel about right. The other question is how you center your head position at the start of the flight it makes quite a difference.

Having used a DK2 for a couple of years the Vive is actually a step above. Personally I accept the fact that I leave the Labels on. Artificial yes however as you pointed out the rez is not quiet good enough for identification a lot of the time. There are some threads on how to make the labels smaller and once we get to version 2.5 I plan on implementing it. In the mean time enjoy it the rez is good enough to read the hud on the A10 finally just lean towards it same with the MFD's. If you want to play multiplayer with no labels its a problem but then again from my past life I would say welcome to the real world, Target identification has always been a problem. With VR you can fly realistic close formation, AAR and in close Air combat you can actually track a guy and fly some pretty decent BFM. Also the Russian HUD's are larger font and significantly easier to read so try some of those. In summary while there are some losses when you transition to VR the gains are enormous. With a good Hotas setup the sense of immersion is amazing (if only we had full motion for the g effects). Yes there is some loss of clarity but there is so much more to flying a military fighter and with VR you can get that much closer to the real thing.

Will DCS support the VR optimization of the 10xx series?
WindyTX replied to Kirin's topic in Virtual Reality
HTC Vive running a GTX 980 but it spends most of the time at about 66% usage with all setting turned to low. If I turn it up above low I get too much judder and the card stays at 66%. I dont think until DCS is coded for DX12 as explained by Skatezilla the graphics is limited by DX11. Would love to know if ED plan to switch to DX12 any time soon. Having used a DK2 for a couple of years tho, what we have now is light years ahead of where we were. Flying close formation and tanking is now almost as easy as real life, almost!!!!! Trying to read the comms has got to be fixed tho? -
Thanks Roy, I guess I will end up with both myself then. Thanks Andy

Check your room setup if you dont get the floor right it will start in a funky position. I had to update the firmware in my controllers before it would set the floor properly. Num 5 should also reset the seated position carefully.

Roy Thanks, in summary then you don't feel the better frame rate and vision for DCS is significant. cheers Andrew

KA 50 HMD works great in VR it is the easiest way to target anything. No I don't shut one eye the thing is just there and you sight through it completely natural and very cool as it follows all your head movement :)

+1 on the loss of focus causing a crash. I thought my Thrustmaster Warthog had failed once.

Thanks the You Tube video is semi useful tho I believe Vive must have been updated already as Elite Runs much better on my GTX 980. I will have a CV1 in Mid June just not sure if I should save the money, I will if DCS is not smoother on CV1 than Vive . Hence my original question which I will ask again. Is there anyone on here that actually has both Vive and CV 1 and if so how does DCS compare. thanks Andy

I am finding that my Vive framerate is purely dependant on the mission. If I am just stoogeing around teaching circuits then its great and even close formation is fine. If however there is a load of AI targets running around and I start shooting them the explosions can give me a massive frame rate hit and completely break the immersion. My DK2 could handle a lot more explosions however the definition was less so it seems like a fair trade plus the vive is a lot brighter and the colours are way more saturated. For now I limit the amount of AI tgts involved and stick to smaler missions and I find it a very enjoyable experience. The framerate locks to 45fps for a majority of the time to allow for Reprojection. I am still waiting for someone with Vive and CV1 to give a AB comparison. My Specs are in my Sig

Does anyone have both a Vive and a CV1 I would like to know opinions I have a Vive and there is definitely a Hit in performance compared to DK2 and the Gods Rays are bad in Elite but not so bad in DCS which is where I spend the majority of my time. I have a delayed CV1 due in June and am contemplating cancelling the order if there is no significant advantage to the CV1. Please only post if you have both and have used them with DCS. I like most have read summaries of the differences and advantages but I would like to hear from someone that is using both right now for DCS Cheers
