I asked a similar question and assumed that the lack of response means no one knows how. So I will be looking at reporting this ass a bug once I see how.

I am finding that my VR mouse cursor is permanently in view. Reading these forums it sounds like I am not alone, but for most people the cursor disappears after a few seconds, and then comes back on once the mouse is initially clicked. While others are experiencing the same as me, I haven't found any solution to why it stays on. I tried LAlt + C to turn off and then back on but it doesn't fix the issue. Thinking of reporting this as a bug, but before I do, does anyone have a solution?

Copy that, thanks guys

dburne how have you managed to set the crosshair to be off, and then come on, on first press of button? I have set the mouse to throttle button, but crosshair is always on.

 Brilliant, thanks dburne

Is this different than selecting full screen in the settings menu?

Thanks for taking the time to put out the live stream wags, very informative and both the map & assets look great.

Best Way to Show-Off/Show-Case DCS VR to Someone Who Does NOT Fly?
crowebar replied to Gnat's topic in Virtual Reality
When I got mine I put the demo on from the oculus library tab within the software that installs during setup. That was enough to wow them, particularly the city view from the top of the sky scrapper. Then later I set the spitfire up in free flight, set the throttle for cruise and paused it. Put them in the pit, numpad 5 to centre view, took off pause. Let them use joystick but gently move it yourself to keep it airborne. All 3 girls in my house wowed. -
Can you fly high tech very well in VR? I flew F16 for many years before converting to DCS a10. Found it a bit slow so jumped in the spit, which coincides with going VR. Having had MFD's extracted to 2nd screen, not sure how clicking on MFD in VR creen would compare particularly in those air or ground action moments when mode and settings changes are needed so fast. I'm thinking F18 in straits of Hormuz when released, provided thereby is some kind of 'hands inside' technology by then, and as long as I haven't got hooked on ww2 and joined a squad. Which is also a possibility. So how are you finding flying high tech in VR

Snails161, if you also check posts by fitness88 he recommends setting the graphics settings for the Rift HDMI port to Nvidia controlled & and Vibrance setting within the nvidia control panel to 70 - 80 ish.

Nice article on VR - Royal Aeronautical Society

Thanks for sharing this with us dburne, makes good reading. I am a new face around here because I have come from the Falcon community and so must agree with the author that Falcon 4 BMS in VR would be the ultimate. But one of the reasons I have jumped ship to DCS (I have been a 1 sim guy most of my 30 ish years in virtual skies) is the introduction of new technologies such as VR. I had a go in the A10, but have fixed on the Spitfire because it needed less interaction outside of VR. And I am enjoying it so much that I have pre ordered the Normandy map and asserts , and can't wait to be good enough (in my mind) to join an online squad and head over the channel in a 4 ship, part of a 12 ship package to give jerry a bloody nose. I enjoyed falcon and had the 2nd screen with TM MFDs, and was as long time member of 185th etc and so enjoyed modern jet combat but I couldn't see me getting on very well in VR with a modern jet cockpit. My TM MFD's wouldn't be much good if I have to fumble for the buttons by touch as quick selections are required both in air to air, and air to ground combat. Before I got my Rift I was looking forward to the release of the carrier based F18, but now having flown in thee VR world I can't see me flying another jet before there is some sort of hand inside system introduced that will allow me to podge buttons on MFDs, CDUs and UFCs ( by which time I may be hooked on WW2) At the Cosford flight sim show last year they had a Vive system setup demonstrating both the Vive and leap motion hands inside system on Microsoft flight sim, flying a Cessna. This was brilliant you could move all switches, throttles and even flight yoke within the VR cockpit. This technology is also new, and is coming. Hopefully ED will adopt one of these technologies and the we really will be rocking and rolling, and that will be the trigger for me to strap myself back in a jet. -
I hadn't even noticed the goggle effect until I looked for it last night after reacting about it. Now I can forget about it because as others have said before, you arevso immersed in the 3d world that it is not noticeable.

What aircraft are you going to be flying in normandy and why ?
crowebar replied to silenteye's topic in DCS: Normandy 1944
Once I nail circuits and bumps, my beautiful spitfire, as long as you guys throbbing around in Axis aircraft promise not to hurt me! -
Thanks, a great response.

Dino Might, if you live in the UK anywhere near Stamford, Lincolnshire you are welcome to come to my house and take my spit up for a spin in the Rift.

Looking at getting some lenses, problem with wearing my glasses in the Rift is that I have verifocals . Reading up on them it looks like blue guard is worth having to protect your eyes. Does anyone have any feed back on blue guard and in particular is there any noticeable distortion in game colours?

I'm with you on that Phantom88. Within 3 weeks of buying rift I have sold both my trackir and my 2nd screen with MFD's attached. Looking back to early 80's and my first spectrum 48 flying 'Spitfire 40' on a 14" screen with a 'quickshot' joystick, after the endless wait for game tape to load. With every new innovation for the gaming market we wondered in hind sight how we ever managed before. I wonder what our flight sim experience will look like in another 30 years!

Surely it makes perfect sense to sell the assets pack separate simply because the Normandy map can then be used by the whole DCS community, both WW2 and modern without there being a mix up of era units in mission planner. The asking price for ww2 assets is quite negligible for those that intend using the map in a ww2 environment. Have pre-ordered both map and assets!

Ok thanks dburne. Agreed NeilWillis, there are a few avenues under developement, I guess as you say, we will have to wait and see what comes on the market, and what works in DCS.

re-understanding control settings>controls tab using VR
crowebar replied to fitness88's topic in Virtual Reality
Hi fitness88, someone posted on another thread to lean forward in the pit, press numpad 5 to re-center view, and then sit back. -
Those of you with touch controllers, can they be used in DCS to control joystick, throttle levers, trim wheels and various switches?
-
Thanks for sharing, due release anytime now and in the scheme of things, not that expensive! http://www.captoglove.com

Just had my first VR spin in DCS spitfire, OMG!

I tried the rift with my glasses on, fit was OK once on, but was as little uncomfortable due to pressure pushing the bridge of glasses down onto my nose. If I had to, I could wear them with the rift. However it was a FAFF to put the rift on, and a faff to take it off. I tried it without my glasses and found that I could see better. This was because I wear verifocals so the lower half was a bit out of focus viewing in the rift. During setup you are given dimensions for glasses frames that will fit within rift, I should think these will also be on the oculus website somewhere.
