[REPORTED]su25t sead weapons bug
Pocket Sized replied to salling772's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
That would make sense. If you fire a heat seeker at a parked airplane it behaves in the way described. It goes in the general direction then seems to go stupid at the last second. -
Apparently they made some changes to refueling, something to do with collisions. Anyone tried this yet or knows what specifically they changed?
-
Every movable nose mounted radar in dcs does this, and the real documentation says it should.

Opinion time: What aircraft has the best control set up?
Pocket Sized replied to Braeden108's topic in Chit-Chat
My favorite is the F-15, albeit more because of what's under the stick. The control system is an amazing piece of engineering as it doesn't have anything digital, it's all analog or hydromechanical. Despite being totally analog it still auto trims, coordinates, and limits lateral control when necessary. The only thing it lacks compared to modern FBW is a true G limit system (12G is grounds for an inspection IRL) In fact, I much prefer the snappy, instant control response you get from an analog control system over the dampened response you get from FBW. Worth noting that the control system in the F-15 is surprisingly well modeled in DCS. No discernible differences between real documentation + pilot reports vs the simulator. -
What good is a ram air turbine gonna do on the ground? I did see some mechanical goodies (gauges) in the cavity it's stored in, is it opened to allow for easy access to those?

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2970821&postcount=869 If I understand correctly, the Mi-8 is coming out of early access soon. (Out of early access = door gunners) Does soon mean today?

AARGM-ER... How exactly is that pronounced? :P

BUG: ACS (AP) oscillation at high Mach numbers.
Pocket Sized replied to DarkFire's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
The speed limit I'm describing is artificially added by the FM, so I see no reason it couldn't be based on TAS. Plus, 1500 is a pretty round number but it very well could be based on Mach. -
Impostor! :P Welcome to the forums! Very nice to see somebody who has hands on experience with an aircraft in the sim, I look forward to hearing more :D

Tips for Mi-8 aerobatics.
Pocket Sized replied to Pocket Sized's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Not sure about other Temps but I think the EGT was brushing the red, which was probably the limiting factor (RPM was about 98%). The Mi-8 has a little vertical scale to the bottom left of the front panel which measures engine pressure ratio. It has a red index mark with 3 tabs on it. The tabs represent max takeoff, max continuous, and cruise power. This is your ultimate "horsepower" gauge that shows how hard the engines are being pushed. The Mi-8 does have an engine damage model. In the mission editor there's an engine life slider that changes how "old" the engines are. When they're old they will degrade very quickly with overloading, when they're brand new they won't complain for quite a while (mine were brand new). In the video you can see the beginnings of it in the EGT gauges, which were starting to desync slightly. -

Oh, I know. I wanted to see how quickly I could get her airborne at the cost of doing a very unrealistic startup. Usually I will start both engines and once they're both stabilized at idle I slowly spin up the rotors. Not to mention the near constant overloading of the engines, for most of the display they were well over max takeoff EPR. -
[TRACK] Engines spike to 190% RPM after restart
Pocket Sized replied to Pocket Sized's topic in Bugs and Problems
Also, the fuel flow is WAAY higher than it should be in MIL, which would possibly explain the super high temperature/RPM as well as the insane acceleration despite the afterburner not being lit or selected (all fuel was going to the core engine) -
BUG: ACS (AP) oscillation at high Mach numbers.
Pocket Sized replied to DarkFire's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
I think the speed limit is based more on ground/true airspeed. I've reached it at a variety of altitudes and it always seems to be bang on 1500 knots true, despite mach number changing with altitude. I'll have to do more testing though. -
Totally random question: Am I the only one who has never gotten a missile launch warning from a friendly maverick? I've gotten them numerous times from friendly SEAD missiles, the Gazelle's ATGM's, and any Foxes within visual range (the sensitivity of the system never ceases to amaze me!) But never a maverick, despite being in close proximity to dozens of them so far. Come to think of it, I'm curious as to how the MLWS ignores your own missile launches...
-
Also because the B was backwards compatible with A launch rails IIRC, they just weren't utilized on the Viggen IRL.

Again, it depends on the circumstances. Remember the radar has ZERO resistance to ground clutter. If your target is between you and the ground the chances of getting a lock decrease proportionally with their altitude and inversely with range. In other words if the target is a long way away and very low the chances of seeing or locking them are tiny, even more so if you're diving on them. That's not to say it's impossible to lock somebody below you. If you're in close and at high altitude the radar will easily be able to pick out the target.

In the AMA a dev mentioned "CCIPish" release mode for the bombs as well as actual CCIP for the high drag bombs. Anyone have more info on "CCIPish"?

Tips for Mi-8 aerobatics.
Pocket Sized replied to Pocket Sized's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
I made a thing. Cold started in 1 minute 45 and demonstrated various aerobatics then brought her down for an autorotation landing with both engines out. I've gotten a lot of practice since my last attempt so the maneuvers in this video are a fair bit more aggressive. My engines were not happy with me afterwards :D -
After going inverted and having both engines flame out (as expected) I tested the air restart capability by advancing the throttle to afterburner then back to MIL once they lit off. The engines accelerated to about 90% RPM then stagnated. The EGT shot up and pinned at 1200 degrees. I throttled down and there was no initial response. After a few seconds the engines RPM went off the scale and upon checking F2 they were at over 180% rpm and the aircraft was rapidly accelerating. I'm currently uploading a video of the incident I got from the TRK, which is attached to this post. This is probably some tiny quirk in the engine/fuel control code, I've only had it happen to me twice, the other time the engines spiked to 130% but that was many many updates ago. Moon shot missle 1.5.5
Pocket Sized replied to zxarkov's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
It would be trivial for somebody who is good at math (not me) to figure out the max altitude the missile could theoretically reach if the atmosphere didn't exist. But all of my intuition says that a missile fired straight up should go extremely high. Especially a 27E, which is a very fast, long range missile even at low altitude. Also, it would be very nice if we could make absolutely certain we're not interpreting "k" to mean "a thousand feet" or "a thousand meters." Please use km or ft to prevent confusion. -
BUG: ACS (AP) oscillation at high Mach numbers.
Pocket Sized replied to DarkFire's topic in Su-27 for DCS World
They should probably do what was done on the F-15: introduce an artifical speed limit at max allowable Mach. The 15 has been demonstrated ~0.1M over the DCS speed limit IRL and has similar issues with heating. -
With the F-5 out the door and in release status we're getting Mi-8 door gunners soon and, from what I've heard, multicrew for the Huey (however multicrew is likely quite a ways off)

I'd say to slow down with the assumptions there hamster...
