  1. That's the chappie I was looking for. I had that set on my old rig and could not for the life of me remember what word replaced auto. I have been using " force application to always run at half frame rate with motion vector reprojection". It works ok, but the cockpit can get a little jittery when sat on the ground. Thanks Secoda. :)
  2. Gun jam. Reverb is VERY sensitive to USB drivers. Go into device manager and find your new card on the list then /update driver / select driver from list on this PC. Find one ending with (Microsoft) and install that. You will likely find one named something like fresco logic FL1100 usb driver (Microsoft). As opposed to plain vanilla fresco logic FL1100 usb driver. Which is what you likely have now. Avoid ASmedia drivers like the plague unless they have (Microsoft) at the end.
  3. Tried various ways to get it up to 5.0GHz and eventually tried the official gigabyte version. Upped the Clock ratio to 50, ran through every other step, volts up to 1.3 and in every case, when saving the profile it shows [AUTO] - [AUTO] as the change. Clearly it didn't stick. XMP profile 1 and every other setting has stuck. Any ideas what is going wrong?. I'm starting to think someone put a 9900 in a 9900k box, but Task Manager is showing it as a 9900k @ 3.6GHz but running at around 4.8GHz.
  4. Motion smoothing does not work with WMR headsets. They use reprojection instead. I ended up enabling force half rate with reprojection instead of reprojection auto. It gives good results, but still tweaking on my new build. I still do not have the butter smoothness I had on my old rig, so something is awry. Early days yet. Goes to show once again, it does not matter how great a rig you have, the main bottleneck in VR is not CPU or GPU, it is DCS VR optimisation.
  5. Answered via PM,
  6. As above. Having a clear out of stuff from previous upgrades. So FOC to someone who wants them. Seems a pity to throw them out as junk when someone else could make use of them and I want no truck with "ebayer" shysters who say that the stuff did not work in an effort to get them free and have me pay the shipping for the privilege. Much rather gift them to someone deserving. All I ask is that you want the stuff to use yourself, not to resell. I am fully aware that the sidewinder 2 sticks in full working order are fetching a lot of money on eBay, but I'd rather help a fellow simmer upgrade his kit. All were in full working order when decommissioned. So. Corsair CX750 PSU - non modular so all sata cables and the like attached. Hyper X Fury DDR3 1866 RAM modules. 2x 4Gb sticks in original packaging. Corsair H80i AIO water cooler with Intel motherboard fittings. Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals. Microsoft Sidewinder 2 Force Feedback joystick. Sorry no power supply, probably been tossed out in a previous clear out because it has an odd connector (believe it is a C8 ). Hunted for it without success. EDIT: looked at tech specs underneath the stick. It does not need a power supply, it is a std C7 power cable at one end and a 13A mains plug at the other. I will throw in a brand new one as I have several kicking around. EDIT #2. Stick has been tested with the cable and works fine. I'm between Selby and Goole in North Yorkshire UK. Strictly collection only. PM me if interested.
  7. What you are seeing is poor VR optimisation within some maps. Normandy is the worst, followed by PG and Caucasus. NTTR is by far the better of the bunch, performance wise. I have no problems in the air, but struggle with performance on the ground, particularly with the F14 and heavily ground object populated air bases in PG. I find it to be an oddly transient thing, some days are better than others.
  8. I can see a little SDE in my Reverb on consistent, light coloured backgrounds like the cliff house walls. BUT I really, really have to be looking for it. It is certainly not like Rift, it's more like almost seeing each pixel lit up brightly, rather than seeing the spaces between them. Not noticeable 99.9% of the time and certainly not a problem for me.
  9. It has been discussed at very great length in VR circles.........in fact before I change the system specs to my new rig, in my Sig, take a good look....
  10. Can confirm that Reverb will work on a USB type C port using these connectors... https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MYPX7Y8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Unfortunately, the PSU powered PCIe card with the USB type C connector I bought to provide this service does not work because it has shitty ASmedia drivers that WMR will not run on, and despite many strenuous efforts, Windows will not allow me to change these crap drivers. Luckily my motherboard has a type C port.
  11. You have or will have pretty much the same setup as my old rig (sig below is still the old rig) and it handled both Rift and Reverb fairly well in DCs with high settings on most things
  12. I suppose reading my post again from someone else's point of view it does come across as a bit terse and high handed. It was not meant to be and I apologise for that. It was meant to ardently convey that most of the issues can be overcome with a little diligence and from reading various forums, many, if not most, gave up at the first hurdle which is a shame. From my point of view, the Reverb is most definitely not perfect, and really should not have been released to the public in its present form; that is without question. However it has a three year warranty (pro version) and subsequently a three year window for any unsolvable issues to be claimed against. Someone on here once wrote that he considered this version of the headset as a loan against a better version that will be released later with modifications. I also take that view. When the finished product is released and has been out in the wild for some time without major issues, I will remove the cable ties and make a claim for all the subsequent flickers and blackouts, but in the meantime I will enjoy using it. I consider it getting a brand new and improved headset for free, having had much use out of the old one. Of course there are some faulty units out there that cannot be fixed, the foremost seeming to be the ones that seem to get excessively hot in use and thermal throttling takes place, but faulty units getting past Quality Control and escaping into the wild is true with any mass produced product. Buying stuff is always a lottery. I am on my third 2080TI after two previous failures and I had a couple of warranty claims against Oculus with the Rift (headphone failures), so I am well acquainted with unsolvable hardware issues. Once again, apologies for seemingly getting on my high horse. The outside temps have been in the mid thirties all week and I am lacking in sleep. I dare not even consider strapping a large box containing two warm screens to my face....
  13. It depends on how much effort you are willing to put in. Are you willing to spend a couple of weekends tuning stuff to have a great experience. Or are you going by the advice of people who put it on once, using a 10 year old PC, who complained on a forum and returned it after a day, and are disappointed because it has issues due to not being plug n play? If the former, buy now; if the latter, wait a couple of years. Reverb is not perfect, nor will the next reiteration be perfect, for any tangible reward, some effort has to be expended in reaching that reward. I and a few others gnashed our teeth at the obstacles presented, overcame them, and are now super happy with the results. If you don't exactly enjoy a challenge, but are prepared to roll your sleeves up and fight it every step of the way, great. However, if you expect everything handed to you on a plate, buy a rift S and make do with second best.
  14. Indeed. Track replays are worse now than ever. One time you could replay a start up, Taxy out to runway, take off and fly the mission, getting more and more inaccurate. These days you can't make two turns on a taxiway without running onto the grass.
  15. Agreed. My pilot body in the F18 is mapped to the autopilot on off button on my warthog throttle.
  16. Confirm DCS does model ground effect. Best way to see this is in the helos, esp the Huey. Fat Creason. Thanks for the insight into your day to day world. You have brought up issues that likely no one on here would have ever thought of. Weapons drag being controlled by DCS for example, however I suppose that is fair, it levels the playing field for everyone, no matter the aircraft. Just goes to show how amazingly complex, detailed and accurate all the devs are striving to make it.
  17. Yes a few people were kind enough to offer this advice when I was weighing up which way to go with either upgrade or new build. In the end, due to past problems of being unable to recover the files already on my old rig after my original 2080TI blew up and I really made a mess of everything in my efforts to fix the BSoD, I decided to play it safe. I know it would be easier to share and copy files across, but I do not have the confidence to fix it by delving into command prompts and registry changes should something go wrong. I chickened out and decided to go the conventional way :noexpression:..... But if anyone asks, I will tell them I wanted a fresh install.:music_whistling: I got DCS World up and running now, logged in and am now downloading some of my more used modules. I doubt I will bother with Normandy. I will bring my ready made missions across however.
  18. Stay with it. It does take a LOT of setting up but it is worth it. I just flew a couple of hour and a half missions this afternoon and the experience was flawless.
  19. No, it is just an artefact of the track file replay. It is not operational. However, whatever he is, he appears to have a deal with some aircraft breaker or other because he sells all the switch panels in the rear pit. Just console frames and wiring bundles left after his "little deal". Amazing how detailed the Cat is under the visible switch panels actually.
  20. Any news of a toggle on off pilot body being implemented for VR users yet? It is there in the rear pit if you jump in the back seat, when replaying track files; trouble is Jester needs beheading. Hard to get in the right position. Either too far forward or you are looking at the inside of Jesters oxygen mask.
  21. Completely bare bones at the moment, but it has a pulse and is taking steady breaths. Was just going to upgrade the RAM, Motherboard and CPU on my old rig, but that would have meant being without it a long time due to my ridiculously slow internet connection, so I decided to start afresh and leave my old rig in full working order until the last second. Just need to pull the GPU. Currently running on internal graphics, so not much use for anything yet apart from the internet. The radiator fans have not even been spun up and the CPU temp is steady at 30 degrees! it must be gasping under the strain. Glad I did because I have started downloading 33GB of fresh DCS World and its been grinding away for 18 hours so far with a giddy 29% as a result. Some of that time was updating windoze though. Lots more to apps to download yet. i9 9900K Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Ultra motherboard. Thermaltake 360mm cooling. 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200 RAM. Corsair 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD. EVGA G3 850w modular PSU Thermaltake View 71 case.
  22. Hello Ozark. You sound oddly familiar but I don't know why. Back to the question... DCS World will take up maybe 30GB. Each terrain will take up maybe 25GB and each module will take 5GB. For best performance, all needs to be on a SSD. As for the rest, who on here gives a rats ass about family pics and the like. That's out of our perview. Put your intimate pics on a separate storage drive via a drag n drop process or a copy all. But from your system specs, you did not buy that from your local market and you know the answer already.
  23. Interesting card. I'm usually an Nvidia guy, but I'm building a new PC while planning to keep my old rig in running order, other than stealing the 2080TI out of it for the new rig. If the 5700xt is as good as it is claimed to be, this might be the answer I am looking for to get my old rig back into full working order for not a lot of cash in Nvidia terms. My 2080TI blew up twice and I do not want to be left without a decent rig for months ever again.
  24. Good to hear about the effects of the 1TB M.2 NVMe drive over SSD. I have one sitting among a large and rapidly growing pile of boxes in my man cave that will all come together into a glass box containing machinery specially designed to cause much cursing and consternation; and being a faster upgrade, cause this angst much more rapidly than ever before. Looks like this weekend is going to be wet, before a red hot and sunny week after that, so hopefully there will be no demands much on my time this weekend. The dogs will have to make do with short, wet and miserable walks. Just waiting for my 360mm radiator to arrive and it's time to get the screwdrivers out.
  25. This. Reverb is certainly not a plug and play device, it is a pain to set up software wise and hardware wise. Once you have it right though.... wow. Vega is going through the Reverb growing pains currently.. ;) Excitement. Oh it doesn't work. Yey it's working. Oh it's gone off. Yey it's fixed. It's uncomfortable. I may send it back. I'll give it one more go. Wow the clarity is amazing. What happened to my mouse cursor. Wow the clarity is amazing but why is the tracking jumping. What happened to my audio. What happened to my clarity. I may send it back. I will give it one more chance. So that's why it felt so uncomfortable. Ok now. Why is it doing that. Finally.... it's just like the Rift CV1 with high res screens. Yey. :) I have to go through it all again with my new build... Edit: Just ordered this expansion card to run Reverb from in the new build, again it gets its power directly from the PSU or failing that via a sata connector. Also ordered a usb type C to type A adapter to see if Reverb will be happy with running through a straight pass through connector. If so, running from type C will get me an extra half amp of power over the type A socket. Since Reverb only draws enough for a type A plug to handle nominally, should be no problems with things getting hot in the hardware. I'm hoping the extra power is available if needed, just as a little stability insurance. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073NZZ6TG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
