My favourite is the OTTO P1-1 I grabbed off of eBay. Not cheap though.
-
It would still have been compatible - the Cougar grip is compatible, and it doesn't have push on the CMS.
-
Nice! Looking forward to seeing your progress and eventually the design files.

@Stang, that "other stuff" link leads to an empty imgur profile... Might be why they don't show up in the previous post?

Sorry for your loss. I have a question on the ABSIS. Is it only usable with DCS-BIOS? I play other games than DCS where a simpit would be neat, even though not tailored 1:1 to the aircraft. Could it run as a normal DirectInput device (input only) or better yet switch between them?

A PS/2 (mini-DIN6) connector or cable will work with minor modification. You'd need to pull one pin from the male and drill a hole in the female connector, but they might still be easier to get hold of than mini-DIN5. Edit: here's one that looks like it might fit, US source. https://www.showmecables.com/mini-5-pin-din-female-panel-mount-connector

7-8 port USB 3.0 HUB recommendations
aniron replied to mdee's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
After frying the main board of my Warthog throttle, I bought an Exsys "industrial-grade" 7-port USB 2.0 hub for my flight peripherals. It makes me rest a bit easier knowing the lack of protective circuits on the 'hog throttle. I got it for some 400 SEK from ELFA/Distrelec online. Ex-1178 There's an USB 3.0 version as well, which costs a fair bit more. Ex-1189HMVS I'd probably upgrade to that should I ever have the need, but the vast majority of my devices are 2.0 anyway. -
Jrsteensen, I saw on another forum that you are - or at least were - building an F-18D pit in order to press-gang your kid into playing WSO with you. Did you give up on that (part of the) project? I'd also be interested in some 5-yo-proof designs.

Sounds good to me (Sweden here).

To be fair, it's not cumbersome. It went in very smoothly and it functions much better than the TM screw-on mechanical interface. With this interface it's not out of the question to simply swap back and forth between grips according to which plane you want to fly. I would never consider that with the Warthog.
-
Yes. TM Warthog released in Oct 2010 DCS: A-10C released in Feb 2011

I found multiple local (Swedish) sources of 19mm and 6mm mdf, as 2440×1220mm (8'-and-a-tiny-bit by 4'-and-a-tinier-bit) sheets. Hopefully the last .05mm won't be too much of a problem on the thicker grade :-) . Am I correct in that the .25" grade is used as cladding only and thus would work acceptably as .236" as well?
-
Totally read that as "Baltic Hornet Campaign"...

The VKB adapter goes inside the Warthog grip, replacing the stock threaded interface. There is a small possibility that it will not fit the F/A-18 grip or that there is no room for the electronics board.

Is it possible to detach cursor motion from head motion?
aniron replied to Hippo's topic in Virtual Reality
Oculus Touch gives independent "laser" cursors with options for left/right click and scroll wheel. Problem is you have to put them down to use your HOTAS. -
Looking sweet! Could you give approximate footprint dimensions for the full pit (or just the console) as currently envisioned?
-
As you state that "this will NOT be a 100% accurate representation of the F/A-18C. We expect to capture 98% of the functionality of the real bird, and very, very similar visuals" I'm wondering whether these differences will prevent immersive VR use, i.e. reaching out and actuating the VR switch will not cause me to miss the physical switch when properly aligned. (of course, this is contingent on hand/finger tracking without holding a controller in the hand, but the next generation VR is expected to have that)
-
Will the physical geometry, switch use etc. be tested in VR before release?

You can use software such as JoystickGremlin to output keystrokes or DirectInput buttons when an axis reaches a certain level.

F-18 cockpit default view is too close
aniron replied to rokomah's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
On Oculus Rift CV1, you can press one of the buttons on the left Touch controller to recenter your view according to where your headset is currently positioned, so play with the position and orientation of your head until your body coincides with the pilot body (on planes that have it). The other button on the left controller will toggle VR zoom. -

DCS BIOS: Different modules in one arduino and others
aniron replied to marques's topic in Home Cockpits
To ask a related question, would there be any reasonably easy way to use the same panel (and preferably also arduino) both for DCS-BIOS and without DCS (I. E. as a generic directInput device). -
Very true. Looking forward to seeing more progress.

It looks like the HTC Vive Pro might use Displayport 1.2 as well as a USB3.1 (type C). As I understand, the Vive comes with a "link box", so it might make sense to just integrate that into the panel instead. I'm not sure, I myself have a Rift which uses HDMI+USB3.0. It is a bit finicky about using hubs, USB expansion cards and extenders. The upcoming "Windows mixed reality" headsets appear to use the same connectors judging from concept images. For any other upcoming headseats your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps make the panel modular or with several options to choose from according to the needs and tastes of the specific user? If you are using a VR HMD for instance, you'd use its in-built audio and then only need a mic port, not headphones.
-
Not sure exactly which panel that is, but here goes a couple ideas: HDMI+USB3 for VR HMD. 3.5mm mic/headphone jacks for headset.
