  1. Thanks for getting the upgrade version compatible. Been looking forward to flying the Ka-50 in DCS World... i was pretty gutted when i did not think it would be include until the end of the beta process which i suspected would take some time. Nice surprise to now see it available. Good move, support for original customers is appreciated.
  2. Really need some seeds for World.. been painfully slow over the last hour.. 10kB/s.. download eta is being measured in days. Please seed if you can. All other modules being seeded.
  3. I have H60.. dead quite.. most noise issues with the range of coolers appears to be incorrect installation methods. Which fan headers you use is important an varies on different mobos.
  4. This really is a awesome combination... automatically overclocked via Asus 'auto tuning' to 4.5Ghz, with the combination of Asus Fan Xpert2 and the H60 everything is running amazingly cool, CPU often under 30° C under load... gob smacked at the performance, ease of overclocking, temps & stability. Not one crash, lockup or blue screen. Lovin it. :) Thanks for your help. 5. Decided to go for the lastest cpu & chipset. If i'm gonna upgrade i might as well get the version that should last the longest. My present mobo & cpu has lasted over 4 years.. i hope this does the same. Asus P8Z77-V Motherboard Intel 3rd Generation Core i5-3570K CPU 8GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-10666 RipjawsX Series for Sandy Bridge (7-7-7-21) Corsair CWCH60 Water Cooler Still awaiting 'cheque in the post'.. so any feedback would be appreciated. Cheers. EDIT: I pulled the trigger today.. ordered the above but swapped the RAM due to a 3-5 week wait for the above version. Got this instead. Corsair CMZ8GX3M2X1600C7R Vengeance Red Memory 8GB 1600MHz CL7 DDR3 With my superclocked GTX 480 and SSD this rig should be a beast. Gonna aim for 4.5Ghz overclock. Looking forward to this build.
  6. Great work...very impressive. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Not using a HUB.. TIR direct to mobo, x52 into a usb port on a front panel multicard reader. Using Windows 7 (x64), mentioned above. Thanks for the suggestion, i'll try switching usb ports about. weird.. been using TIR & X52pro for many years with this button setup and never had this problem before.. :hmm: This problem just suddenly 'appeared'. EDIT: As a workaround i'll have to program my mouse buttons to some random keystroke and setup TIR accordingly..
  8. I need some help lads... i have a problem that has arisen and i can't figure out how to resolve it. All of a sudden my PC (win7 x64) sees my X52pro & mouse as the same device it would seem in game. Let me explain. I use my mouse (razer copeprhead) thumb buttons for TrackIR pause & precision, mouse buttons 4 & 5. Have done for years. Now when in game if i press buttons 4 or 5 on my x52pro it pauses or puts TrackIr into precision mode. Very annoying, as trackir pause & a10c autopilot are now the same button! If i press the offending mouse buttons with the Saitek X52 pro Flight Controller 'Test' tab up it does not register as an input. i.e out of game the mouse and controller are not seen as the same. And pressing the x52 buttons 4 or 5 does not act as mouse buttons 4 /5 out of game either. So far i have reinstalled drivers for both mouse and x52. Out of game they seem to be working fine. But it is affecting all DCS products. I don't know what the hell to do... or what caused it in the 1st place. Any help or input would be much appreciated. Thanks.
  9. Done some testing...It would appear my cpu/ram has meet its match with World. Dual core E8400 @ 3.6Ghz and 4GB Ram (1066) is simply not enough any more. They are both maxing out, roll on an upgrade.
  10. Thanks again Speed for all your hard work, I have been out of the loop for some time, it looks like i have quite a lot of reading to get back up to speed.
  11. DCS World is almost unplayable for me. Don't have any freezes in standalone versions. Game is on a SSD, so its not HD issues. Running a GTX 480 with 1.5 GB RAM, i'm sure that is not the issue. Might be RAM, only have 4GB, but i've never seen it reach capacity. Shortly going to be upgrading. I think World needs optimising... fingers crossed for the next version. (it is not a problem with mission size / active units either, testing a mission where all AI is disabled.. get stutters between 35fps, trigger all AI on at the same time, 200 units, fps is the same and stutters the same too, no increase or change.)
  12. Yeah the H-60/80 does look tempting.. Think i'm gonna switch to the ivy bridge chip, after further research it would seem to make sense. Very little in it, but low power usage is the main factor for me.
  13. Eh? Not sure what your point is.. looks like a micro mobo with a monster cooler....you've lost me.
  14. In my opinion and many others, there is no benefit to use the i7 2600k over the i5 2500k. Here is one of many threads comparing them. I think you should be choosing between the i5 2500k and the i7 3570k. Between these there is so little difference... on a default stock setup the i7 3570k is a tiny bit faster, but the i5 2500k overclockers to a higher speed. So.. there is little in it. View this..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1bet2FGKRE&hd=1 I'm about to buy a 2500k rather than the new ivy bridge, newer is not always better. My motherboard of choice is the Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z68XP-UD3P...
  15. Instructions are on the 1st post.. Personally i don't use this function.. but what problems are you having.
  16. I very much doubt it. Build your own desktop, much cheaper, much more powerful, upgradable, flexible, far more bang for your buck. In my opinion i'd build a system around a i5-2500k and overclock it to over 4Ghz. With a view to upgrading in 3/4 years. If you want portability, get a cheap notebook or tablet, let the desktop do the gaming. :)
  17. I'm pretty sure it does, but not 100% certain.
  18. Hey lads.. due to an expensive few months.. my upgrade went on hold. Should have the spare cash this month, so...here is my present shopping basket. Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z68XP-UD3P (Rev 1.0) - £117.21 8GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-10666 RipjawsX (7-7-7-21) Dual Channel kit - £43.00 Intel Sandybridge i5-2500K - £157.18 Total: £317.39 I'm looking for a little advice on RAM.. and cooler for overclocking. On the RAM front what do you make of my choice?.. TBH my eyes glaze over looking at all the choice & options, so many variables. So I would appreciate some reassurance that i'm getting the best for my money. Regarding overclocking & cooling, I have an "Arctic freezer 7 pro" that has served me well, good cooler. But quite cheap. The ones suggested above retail at about £60, do you think they are necessary? This is my Arctic freezer 7 pro.. Ideally i'd like to be pushing towards 4.5Ghz... not sure if that is reasonable with this cooler. I do have a Cooler Master CM 690 case that is well cooled and i keep it clear of dust etc. it has 5 120mm fans in it. Thanks for any advice. (As soon a my juicy cheque from the tax man arrives, that has been promised this month, I'll be going shopping!, Nothing like paying too much tax!) :hehe:
  19. I have no intention of having a pissing contest with you Peter. And my annoyance has nothing to do with 'vanity'. Its a simple thing about politeness. I have no problem with you, i have a lot of admiration for how you bend over backwards to help folk on these forums. However I do find your posts here pretty discourteous, not to mention your assumptions about withholding info & my vanity. If you had simply said, 'I have an alternative guide if you are having issues with the one here...' I would not have found your posts rude. If you don't understand this, fair enough, it seems common courtesy to me.
  20. This normally occurs when you forget to select the correct custom setup file under Monitors. Are you sure you are not mistakenly using the default 1 monitor option?
  21. Wow, Maybe i should post in your guide.. to tell people to follow my guide. That's pretty rude peter. I spent some effort to make this a concise and complete guide, you may think yours is the dogs bollocks, other may prefer my version. All i ask for is some common respect, posting here to say 'follow my guide' lacks that. :( You could have PMed me and i would have happily added your guide to the 1st post on this thread as an alternative version. But no, shame.
  22. Knowing that FC has been capable of more than 32 players I was thinking that DCS was somehow different. I don't recall any player limit being referred to in regards to Flaming Cliffs, but it is clearly stated in DCS World, so i was thinking there was a difference somewhere.
  23. I wonder if anyone knows or if ED and prepared to chip in. Is the 32 player cap a hard limit or a suggested cap? Is it due to data synchronisation requirements? Is it purely dependant upon users upload/download speed & quality or a DCS software code limit? Are there any short term plans (within 2 years) to increase this 'limit'? With DCS World including A10, Ka50, Su25, Mustang, Combined Arms and hopefully soon Flaming Cliffs 3 it would be great to have the potential for much larger scale battles in the near future. Thanks for any info.
  24. I'm sure I spent $60 on Blackshark 1 & $30 on the upgrade and $60 on a10c, can't remember what I paid for flaming cliffs 1 and 2. No complaints, but higher pricing would hinder sales, pricing is about right. Look at it's competitors, all cheaper.
  25. I'm getting similar, big fps drops for a second or two. Defiantly an issue for me compared to silky smooth standalone modules.
