  1. From my understanding this is part of the reason for fps drop, but not the only reason. But in principle as eye candy is increased people will need to lower their settings to maintain fps unless they have horse power to spare.
  2. I'll try again tomorrow.
  3. Cool.. i had already done this accidentally. They were already deleted. No shortcuts live on my desktop :) Good to know.. thanks.
  4. Is it or will it ever be possible to disable the auto updater? Much prefer manually updating when it suits me via the start menu. I suppose i could do it via my firewall.
  5. Fortification Group is back.. i.e armed buildings :)
  6. God aren't you full of the joy's of string today... bad nights sleep?
  7. To get the default one all you need to do is delete or move the input folder from the saved games folder and launch the game.. the defaults files will be recreated.
  8. Here are the changes in A10c, Ka50 & Su25T These are from my 'Saitek X52 Pro Flight Controller {7345FCD0-C170-11e1-8002-444553540000}.lua' file. which should be them all.
  9. To be fair that is a little beyond the scope of ED's remit in my opinion. I'm not saying its not a pain having to redo controller setups, it is. Hopefully this will be the last time we need to do this with the auto-updater now present, fingers crossed anyway.
  10. Fixed that for you :P
  11. Indeed. I personally have not noticed a unreasonable drop in fps. Admittedly have not flown enough. But after just firing off a number of Mk1 rockets i did not notice any significant fps hit. More eye candy = more strain on system = lowering your settings. Unfortunately the final part of that formula can be very hard for people to accept. (understandably)
  12. Using this system I just reset all my controls for all modules in about 10 minutes. Only thing i had to do in-game was add the modifiers. I can highly recommend it. The trial version on UltraCompare might well work... But i can't verify that.
  13. Glad you got it sorted. Just a curiosity.. i never run anything 'as admin'. But i am on an admin account of course. Is the reason i never have a problem that i disable UAC for Windows?
  14. Its a pain. simple overwritting from old to new will cause these problems. What i plan to do is. Backup saved games folder, then delete. Load game, go to Options add any new command to make a new key profile file. Use UltraCompare to copy old line to corresponding new lines in newly created file. Add the extra new key commands I already own UltraCompare.. with UltraEdit its a very useful app for this kind of thing.
  15. What prompts? the prompt to activate it? Have you read my post. It may seem stupid to you but the prompts make no sense to me.. as per my screen shots. :idiot: EDIT:never mind.. i need to click on the 'deactivate' blue text. sigh i knew i was being thick :( Didn't realsie that was a button. :idiot:
  16. Cool, forgot about that.. not used that since i played Silent Hunter 3. :)
  17. Over the years i have had numerous unexplained issues with the SST profile software with DCS. I now only use it to override the mini mouse functions. Apart from that i use in game key setup. Not ideal but has saved me numerous headaches. Probably not what you want to hear.. but i'd suggest you use the in-game options as much as you can.
  18. This should be of interest to you.. very informative
  19. Being a bit slow this morning and not sure of the on screen directions. Navigate to your DCS World/Mods/aircrafts/A-10C/bin/x86_64 (or x86) folder and open. Find the a10_protect file and double-click. Gives me the below popup. Then i receive the below popup. Am i deactivated at this point or do i need to click Next? Which i would have thought would activate it again. A pop up saying 'deactivation successful' would be really helpful. :idiot:
  20. Nice thanks for the heads up.
  21. Really? Do you have a source for this info? (curious)
  22. How do you manage your tweaks & customisations? I always end up with a large number of customised files in DCS. Over time I add new tweaks & customisations as they crop up on these forums. When it comes to a fresh install, pretty frequent due the patching / updating process that DCS has been going through I often feel rather dispirited. This is exasperated by often needing to reset up the key configurations. The combination of these two tasks will often lead to me not playing for considerable periods of time. Setting up multi-monitor settings, numerous mods & key configs, especially as i use HawgTouch profiles for numerous modules can take me a lot of tedious hours to do. How do you deal with this process? Do you have any advice? How do you keep track of your mods? I have keymaps/key cards for my HOTAS for each module that i can refer to to help with the key assignments.. but the process is still a ball ache. When FC3 arrives with its numerous airframes all with their own key assignments the whole thing will be even more daunting. I could simply not bother with any customisation... but they do make a massive difference to my enjoyment of the sims. Where is modman.. :( Any tips, trick or the like would be much appreciated.
  23. i never said it was not valid.. i just don't see the problem. I assume ED will give everyone a extra activation. Surely no one has used all 10 of their activation up already! I ran out of Black Shark 1 activations.. i asked for more and had another full set 2 days later. I guess we had different experiences with ED support.
