  1. The Pro Flight pedals are great so if you want to save some money give those a try instead.
  2. Well for a tight space Metal, you need a first surface mirror to increase image size. I have a 8' area to throw the image so my projector beams at a mirror on the wall from about 2' away and gains me 4' of throw distance. With my set-up I get a little over 100" in screen size. And I totally fit your description of someone who has gauges on a secondary screen but even still it was fine for flying before having the sec. screen.
  3. I can confirm that TrackIR can work with a projection setup. It just comes down to finding a place for the camera to be mounted. In my first simpit layout I had a pc. of square metal clamped to the framework. That design worked but the metal bar did get in my viewing area (although you didn't really notice it). http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2712940/Re_A_Good_Joystick_to_Hack.html#Post2712940 In my new layout I have a monitor panel w/ MFD's so I just place the camera on top of the monitor. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=77961&page=4 (post #37)
  4. I've used projectors for years now and won't go back. Currently I'm running a Dell 5100 HD proj. I don't have the room for three screens and I'm satisfied with the one screen for now. If you do go the three proj. route make sure you buy three of the same type so you don't have any differences in image quality. As for the TV try and see what its like (especially if you already have the TV).
  5. Well the ipad would make for a pretty damned big UFC don't you think? I have another question to anyone who uses the iPhone UFC. Do you have any issues with the key command set-up. I get erratic behavior when I press buttons on the phone UFC. For instance if I press the master caution button it jettisons my weapons. I used all the files contained in this thread and I've even tried re-assigning the buttons to something else and then I get input errors. Any help to get this working right would be appreciated!
  6. Gadroc just saw this need to talk with my finance minister about resigning amid austerity measures. Very cool that you're offering this stuff you've been busy!
  7. Droz - There are custom input products out there that can do that. I have an XKeys 128 keyboard encoder I'll be using for my pit to start. I'll probably add to that with some other boards as time goes on. Clr4ils - Thx for the kind comments. Unfortunately I don't have the $$$, hardware or space for a large wraparound projection set-up but I agree that would be cool. Speaking of garages I might be moving all this out there as my baby girl needs a play room (undecided though yet).
  8. I hope someone makes a pit for this, I know a few pit builders where this would be right up their alley.
  9. Well EB you couldn't possibly get feedback from anywhere other than the forums here could you? GASP!! I've said this in another thread that we forum members aren't exactly the only customers of this sim just the most vocal online.
  10. Would be cool! For someone else that is, I rarely find time to fly yet alone work on my hog pit. That's life when you have a kid, job and home to look after, but I wish I could build stuff like this all the time.
  11. If you're plunking down the cash for a Cougar or Warthog a twist rudder shouldn't even be on the same planet no offense. It's like a buying a bad-ass race car and complaining it doesn't have automatic shifting or A/C!
  12. I think we should sticky that comment given the amount of people that are going to keep asking!:pilotfly:
  13. Just wanted to follow up on this issue. Has it been fixed yet? Yes or no will be fine for answer, I know you guys mentioned you're working on it.
  14. I think its a common misconception to think that ED's customers and fans, loyal or otherwise, only come here to this website to voice there opinion. We are only a small part of ED's customer base I'm sure and given that we went thru the trouble of signing up and coming to this board just means were a little more vocal but no more a customer than anyone else.
  15. Well it might not be the GFX card but in fact your available RAM and processor speed holding you back. I get the same results turning the GFX settings on high or low, not much difference.
  16. Well to be honest your arguments for not wanting it are even weaker. Third party add-ons huge for FSX and yes they range in quality but I see no reason for DCS not to get involved in that market. ED has said in the past any official 3rd party add-on would have to meet the strict quality standard of ED and the DCS series. You don't know that developing 3rd part A/C for the DCS series will proverbially open "Pandora's Box" thats just an opinion. As for your concerns that servers will have to cater to Mustangs to gain traffic that's just nonsense. Most servers are hosted by individuals and populated by friends/squad mates it's another case of "to each their own". If someone on one of these servers you describe wants to fly a P51 into a modern combat environment then go right ahead I say. If your so big on keeping things real you'll host your own server or find one that meets your needs. As we used to say in a gaming clan I was in "our server, our money, our rules".
  17. No, but you can....... To each their own I say, and if you're not into the Mustang, by all means don't buy it and you won't have any issues. As for third parties, no one will force you to buy. But as a simmer if you ask me if I'd like options I'll say yes please! After all it's just an option therefore "optional".
  18. It will be out when its ready Smurf. Its a totally different beast than it was in the A10C beta days. Everything I've seen that ED has released tells me it's worth waiting for.
  19. Is that manual in English? Forgive the ignorance but the d/l site is Russian....
  20. Looking forward to the possibilities coming to us not only with this add-on but where the DCS series is going in general. The last few years have been good to flight sim enthusiasts.
  21. Well other than the MFD cut-outs (built for TM MFDs) the other cut-outs are just good faith guesses on size. I had to take some liberties as to fit everything within the confines of the monitor but the great thing about HELIOS (thanks GADROC) is that all the gauges can be re-sized and made to fit. In other words I just loosely based my layout on the real A10 panel and swapped out a couple gauges for the flaps & fuel gauge on the small bottom left 4 cluster of gauges. I could measure everything for you but unless you have the same monitor I'm not sure it will end up the same. When I go back to my final front panel I may have to re-draw, re-cut and re-do some of the gauge layout for the new monitor I'm using. As well I have to take in account some design changes for the arming & landing gear panel. Since now there will be a monitor behind I'll have to raise up the sections for the latter two panels so I fit switches and such behind and in between the monitor. Always happy to answer questions so fee free to ask.
