  1. I also would like to thank Eagle Dynamics and all the other third party companies (maybe not VEAO and Razbam is coming to that status as well) for their hard work in making a complex simulator work. If I was to name a few things I don't think ED deserves praise is this: - Lack of refund policies, that clearly break local laws regarding consumer rights. - A "Beta/Stable" business model that doesn't work and needs proper reform. - A sense of mild passive-agressive censorship in these forums, not really by ED itself but from the users. Which just makes it even stranger. Other than this, I can't help but think DCS is the best combat simulator around. But, also, where's the competition anyway? Keep it up! :)
  2. Watch real F-16s landings (live or in videos). I used to watch them daily when I worked near an airbase. I have seen them both with and without boards out, most likely having to do with weight, wind conditions, etc.
  3. I actually think it's the other way around, the "gamers" flying the russian hardware with their "easy mode radars" seem to have an edge to other hi-fid NATO jets. If you are getting shot down, improve yourself, don't blame the sim. Also, I would suggest a lighter tone when creating posts in an official forum.
  4. Hi I am also feeling a slight frame drop (5 to 10FPS) and stutter when turning the flood lights. It's noticeable even without the FPS counter. I don't use VR, btw and I deleted FXO/Metashaders2 after the update.
  5. The only flaw in that process you describe is that they don't have a large enough internal testing group to try new stuff and debug, especially in MP. They rely on end users, actual customers to try out their additions and changes. And, yes, with some additions, others degrade. This is not the rule in the entertainment industry, at all. And I've seen this type of "public beta testing" backlash badly elsewhere. But, it is what it is. And you are not forced to use the Open Beta at all.
  6. Awesome, thanks for clarifying. I didn't know it could also ID units with Link 16. Truly awesome. I would assume this will also be integrated into the Hornet. Maybe the Warthog? Here's hoping.
  7. Hi Can I suggest you guys either extend your current Internal Testing Team or just create a distinct and experienced group of users to extensively test these updates prior to public launch? Something like a focus group, especially running MP servers as most dramatic issues seem to appear online. It's just a suggestion, no criticism intended here.
  8. This is purely based on curiosity as I don't know if the JHMCS on the F-16C Falcon Block 50 CCIP has this integrated. I do know the system is similar to the one equipped in the Hornet and that one presents this specific simbology. So the question is simple: Will the DCS: F-16C have the NAV (Waypoints, etc) and AG (SPI, etc) symbology integrated into the HMD? This would definitely be a game changer, as it will be, I'm sure, in the planned updated version of the A-10C.
  9. Can you tell the exact numbers on that negative curve and saturation? Thanks in advance.
  10. As modules go, in terms of completion, yeah, the Hornet is fairly equipped and complex enough to hook you for a long time. It's still Early Access so there are many features missing and/or bugged. But, it's a decent overall aircraft, with its multi-role aspect to it. I just hope ED doesn't disregard these bugs and missing features however. I was quite sad to see production halt when the Falcon was launched. Here's hoping both aircraft fair better in 2020.
  11. Come on, guys, stop trolling. Vulkan is a fairly recent API as an alternative to the currently used DirectX API. It is said to be faster and more graphically impressive on most machines. ED has been working on implementing this API on DCS, something that many think would improve the game's visuals and performance by a lot.
  12. Really looking forward to the Corsair as well. The Kiowa will be a day 1 buy, for sure. Considering how the Harrier is right now, I wouldn't expect much coming from razbam any time soon. If they do release anything, mind you, I would love some of that Soviet action myself. But I have the Mig-19, I know how they can mess up. And before they fix what's wrong... here's another new EA module... not a good business model, definitely not aimed for QA.
  13. Ah ok, thanks for the info. You're a bit far from my squadron's timezone. Good luck, this is a vast community. I'm sure you'll find a spot.
  14. Hi What region of the world are you from and what languages do you speak?
  15. Hi all I do delete both the FXO and Metashaders folders, yes. Every time either DCS or Nvidia updates something. As for my Core i7, it's a 4960X 3.6 (OC at 4.0 and stable). In Task Manager it's usually idle or at max 30% (measured) when running DCS. So running at near 100% GPU is ok? I shouldn't be worried?
  16. Hi I run a Core i7, 32GB RAM and have DCS on a SSD. But what really matters is that I have a GTX1660Ti graphics card with 6GB VRAM dedicated. Until the latest update, I sometimes entered Task Manager just to check on percentages. Now, I know this isn't a high-end card by any means, but I used to be able to run DCS smoothly with an average of 60FPS or so and on Task Manager the card was pushed to 60% more or less, peaking sporadically up to 80%. With the last update, however, it's constantly above 90%, sometimes reaching 98/99% on a normal flight in multiplayer. This didn't give me any stutters or lower FPS (maybe about 5FPS less on average), mind you, but it does seem exaggerated compared to other games (including other simulators I have). Does this mean DCS is now demanding more juice from the GPU? Or is it an optimization issue?
  17. Hey, what's up with the Harrier CTDs? No mention on a fix for them. Honestly it's a bit disrespectful from Rabzam at this time.
  18. Nevermind the cries in the distance, ED. Awesome map. I can imagine a few missions involving naval operations and helicopter incursions.
  19. 380+ MB for a hotfix on a crash caused by the TF-51? What's in it?
  20. Can someone confirm this was fixed with today's update 2.5.5.40603?
  21. So, is there a workaround for this? It sounds like there isn't.
  22. This discussion again. But it's necessary I guess. As the industry standard is to have a release version only, with some exceptions to a Public Test Version or Server, I can see where ED got their idea. As it is, however, it indeed doesn't make sense to have incomplete modules in a "stable" version when those modules by themselves are bugged. It nullifies the point of a "stable" or "released" version. And please don't try to split DCS from its modules. Are we really flying DCS without modules? Come on. I would say DCS Stable shouldn't exist unless it ONLY sports stable versions of ALL software. Only when a module is complete and bug free would it reach Stable.
  23. Not understanding who the OP is trying to lecture, maybe newcomers, probably. And that's commendable, I guess. But the "tips" are a bit weird, to be honest. I too make mistakes and have some long time vices and I always loved having someone helping me to correct them over time. But... Why would you stick your head down that you disregard your trimming losing control of your aircraft? If you do that and you "forget to trim" or have "spiky" axis, dude, you need some tips of your own! :) "Aviate, Navigate, Communicate" Aviate comes first. This is the only tip I ever needed to improve my cockpit work.
  24. Where is that video?
  25. I don't understand people complaining about having fewer or no updates in a product that was so "complete" at launch compared to other EA modules. I don't prefer a bugged new system, I want the full thing close to completion, tested to exhaustion. Let them work and test around. Also, by now they must me crushing smaller bugs to bring the Viper to stable. They need a stable version so they can fulfill the orders of those who bought the plane and can't fly it until now on stable. Until launch in this version, I bet there wont be any major additions.
