You know what, it might be too early to tell, but their method might have worked for me. Are you sure you did it correctly? You need to do it with winwing plugged in, otherwise it might not appear on the device list. Make sure you go over every entry in HID and USB devices, and turn off that sleep mode.

I feel you. I use mods in other games, but in DCS I mostly gave up on them. I will have a random game crash, and the first thing they tell me- uninstall all mods. I think it is because DCS is both buggy, and in constant development. So mods will sometimes cause crazy bugs that you would think are completely unrelated to their function, or they might at any point in the future, and most mod makers understandably will not provide support forever. Making a curated modpack specific to the campaign seems like the best way to do it. Do you have any public missions/campaigns out there to try?

I don't think you realize the mess that this would create. Firstly, people do not expect and are not willing to install a mod manager and multiple mods to play a mission. But even if they did, imagine maintaining it. Your campaign is then dependent on 3rd party amateur mods. What if they stop working? You have no control over this. Mods also cause weird bugs and crashes all over the place. Campaigns don't. And if you're talking about a paid campaign, will you be refunding or otherwise taking actual responsibility if any of these issues occur? My experience with free campaigns that require mods is that none of them worked for me, as the mod was defunct or caused some issue or crash. I am personally willing to try installing mods for a good campaign, but it spells trouble for me - something will not work, so is it even worth it?

I like the gear too, but it is clearly an issue that is unique to them. They were also unable to suggest a fix for 5 months! If I need a hub, then tell me clearly before I buy the product. I have wasted so much time and frustration on WW that I am unhappy with them either way at this point.
-
This sucks to hear. I agree with you completely, but simply at this point it is more worth it to try the hub than waste time dealing with them and a chargeback/return, then buying another more expensive set.
-
PS, WW support just replied to me with a possible fix. @PluckyUnderdog you can try it as a last resort before you chargeback . It seems that buying a powered hub could be circumventing this, so I will see if it helps before I buy the hub. 54.Procedure for troubleshooting intermittent lagging issues.docx
-
Thanks, I will try this, although I think It's BS that I need to spend $40-80 dollars on hubs to maybe fix it. I will start with a single hub and see if it fixes anything. Should have bought VKB and saved myself all the headache.
-
Sorry, not sure where your "sig" is. Do you mean that you have 2 individual powered usb hubs, one for joystick and one for throttle? Or you use just one hub? I have tried using my Pimax powered hub and it didn't help, although the headset is also using it, so it might be maxed out on power. Honestly, I would just buy the hub to try it at this point.
-
Just to report that my problem is not fixed, I must have been lucky for a while. Interesting, I also bought new cables, and IT SEEMED to fix the issue for a while, but it has returned. It might just be placebo, and we simply did not encounter the random event after the cable swap. It also make no difference where you plug it, hub or not. I am strongly considering asking for a charge back from my CC and just not bothering to deal with this issue. I've tried a 100 different things.
-
I also have these disconnecting issues. Support is not helpful. I'm not sure what to do about it anymore, either put up with it or try to return/chargeback. I like the hardware, but it disconnects every few hours on both the stick and throttle independently. In SP it was tolerable (I can pause and wait), but I've started to play more MP and here it is not, it's not acceptable that I die every few hours due to $600 joystick disconnecting for 30 seconds. If somebody manages to resolve this issue with WW support or otherwise, I'd appreciate it if you let me know. They claim they never heard of it happening I have also reinstalled a fresh system, bought a new motherboard and CPU, still happens all the same.

Thanks for keeping things updated and working! Just finished the last mission thanks to this fix. -
not planned Easy/Medium/Hard/Realistic refueling options.
PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
OK, add AAR assist after these features. This will be never, so I'm fine with that. The problem is that the feature proposed is quite complex, so it will definitely take time from something else. >Also what if a large portion of people disagree with you? Does that mean your desired features should be barred from the game? Most people disagree with you, though. I care more about making an argument from first principles then how many people agree either way. >I think it's fine to give your opinion, but if someone else says that their ways work better for them, well people generally know themselves better than strangers. They don't know what works for them. It is clear that they gave up on learning AAR too early, and cope by imagining some feature that will make it all better, but people who learned AAR have more authority to say that such feature will harm learning more than help. You just refuse this opinion because you don't like it. -

PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
OK, so you're just admitting that you don't want a training aid, you want to circumvent learning AAR and just have AI do it for you so that you can continue in a campaign because you can't do a necessary task. So when you can't win some fight, will you also ask for a refund? BTW, don't all F-14 campaigns have a way to avoid AAR? I think only the training one needs it once. I think it is the last task in that mission, you can just skip it if its' such a big deal. -

PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
As someone who learned AAR, I believe that these aids as proposed here would not help anyone, and just be negative training. I am fairly new myself, so I don't know what you're talking about, but yes, it sounds like I would not be a fan of whatever that was -

PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
>You didn't answer the question. What purpose would those serve? None, just as AAR aids would serve no purpose. They would just trick new players into learning to do thing wrong. That was my point. >So ED should no longer create any add-ons? Again, you point about the definition of "needed" is tedious. >That said, the one I went in certainly could. Otherwise people would have crashed a whole lot more when they tried to land… Sound like you went into some gimmick for the general public, and not something real pilots would practice in. Did you do AAR in it? > The key difference is that while unlimited ammo helps you learn bombing, unlimited fuel has no impact on learning AAR Unlimited ammo saves you time, it does not change the way you bomb. Same as unlimited fuel allows you to practice hooking up indefinitely, without running out of fuel. -

PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I am against these ideas, because DCS needs core upgrades such as dynamic campaign, AI, damage models, SAM, etc. If this feature could magically appear for free, I would not care, but this is meaningless, because that's never the case. It would be done instead of something much more important, so I do care. I am also genuinely trying to give what I believe is a much better solution to newer players struggling with these skills, which is to actually practice without training wheels. Now that you say that, I would actually prefer no Mario banana peels in a flight simulator, even if they are optional. -

PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Your analogies lack logic. Unlimited fuel is analogous to unlimited ammo. Unlimited ammo is trivial to implement, so it can be there as there is little dev time cost. How is AI skill relevant to anything here? It doesn't change game physics, which is what you want. You want a bigger basket? This just doesn't make any sense man... A bigger basket would not only look silly and unrealistic, but collide with your plane before you hook up. Just go practice it instead of coming up with this nonsense. -

PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
>What purpose would those serve? What purpose would AAR aids serve? Plenty of people can't dogfight or hit a dumb bomb. The solution is practice, not changing the game physics to make it easier. >those things can actually be done already AAR can be done already also. > Plenty have been listed. At no point has anyone been able to demonstrate any fault with them. Yes we have. They are not needed, not worth implementing, and would be negative learning instead of helping anyone. >In simulators where you can layer in the difficulty. Do you have any source that professional simulators for AAR have such options as changing the flight model or using partial autopilot to "layer the difficulty"? -
not planned Easy/Medium/Hard/Realistic refueling options.
PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
What else should ED devote dev time to? A bombing aid where physics change, and some partial autopilot takes control of your plane to hit the target? A dogfighting aid where the bullets magically hit the target? And should there be 3 or 4 stages where you can gradually turn this stuff off? This is ridiculous to expect from a simulator. While it is true that DCS could use more detailed training missions on some concepts, what is asked here is different. AAR is 90% a motor skill, and you just have to practice it until you get good. The theory is quite simple. It is entirely optional and not necessary to enjoy most of the game. There is no reasonable aid that would make sense. How do you think real pilots learn to do it? They practice... Some people expect to get all the satisfaction of flying a real aircraft in a simulator without putting any work into learning and practice. OP is clearly a new player, and he throws a tantrum because he doesn't immediately master an advanced and optional skill that professional pilots occasionally struggle with IRL. Sorry, the devs will not and should not implement a custom magical physics modification to satisfy your specific arbitrary need. What is the justification for refunding the game, that it's too hard? That the devs will not implement your personal request? Hello ED I want to win every fight and always succeed in all my endeavors, make it happen or I refund, lol. -

PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
This is the most ridiculous thread I have ever seen on this forum . The request itself is maybe reasonable in itself, but OP's logic, attitude, and unwillingness to take good advice that solves the fundamental problem is not. The arguments just don't make any sense, it's difficult to be less "toxic" when faced with such nonsense. -
DCS: F-4E - Episode IV - RADAR Pt. 1 - Basics and Theory
PawlaczGMD replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Very impressive radar simulation, although I will probably not fly the back seat, it still gives me some satisfaction that this stuff is modelled correctly behind the scenes. Not sure how this kind of stuff works with HB as a 3rd party, but it would be great to see this tech migrate to other modules. We also need a core rework of DCS flare and chaff systems to match the level of this radar. -

PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
You're playing semantics. Yes, in the broadest possible interpretation of the word, nothing is really "needed", so does this justify implementing every feature imaginable because either everything is needed or nothing is? Arcade AAR is not needed, because it is not in the spirit of the SIMULATION, it does not provide anything to most players who know how to AAR or simply don't use it, it is negative training for those who think they want it, it can already by circumvented by simpler unlimited fuel cheat, and it requires a relatively complex implementation that takes dev time away from priority features. The answer to this feature request is practice. The game gives you everything you need to do it without such aids. If it doesn't exist in reality, and doesn't serve a purpose that is strictly to do with the fact that DCS is a computer simulation and not real life, and limitations that come with this, it doesn't belong in the game, and doesn't justify time spent on implementation. -

If the proponents of this feature would spend the time practicing instead of flaming on the forum, they wouldn't need the aids. -

PawlaczGMD replied to PhantomHans's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Unlimited fuel/ammo/inv can be used to set up prolonged practice dogfights to get better at dogfighting, or to replenish your bombs to get better at bombing, etc, without wasting time to reset the mission. Easy refueling will not help you learn how to refuel, quite the opposite, it will teach you bad habits, and give an easy out to avoid learning it. Not to mention what you propose is a complete waste of dev time, while we have so many pressing issues that we eagerly await.
