I've spent the last 18 months learning lua and the scripting engine/dcs to build a superscript, designed for mission creators and campaign creators. I think we can all agree that DCS is SEVERELY lacking in Civilian Aircraft/Animated civilian humans/Ships and other assets, but civilian aircraft primarily. There are some truly amazing modders out there making amazing work for free that really enhance the kind of missions DCS can run. Here are my favourites in no order: Military Aircraft Mod Civilian Aircraft Mod CJS SuperBug AI Tanker Civilian Objects, Ships, Vehicles and Farms Mod Infantry Unit - Animated Pilot Mod My question is how many of you use these mods, or others to enhance your missions?

BOLD CHEETAH (current version 2.9.A001a) VERSION 2.9.A001a - Updated Oct. 26, 2023 - Mission 04 - Fixed Briefing - Mission 12 - Fixed trigger so certain aircraft are not invulnerable. VERSION 2.9.A001 - UPDATED OCTOBER 19, 2023 - Unlimited Fuel for AI Wingmen, Scritps/Triggers updated, Silenced Wingman in Mission 3 (eliminate spam) Welcome to Bold Cheetah, a realistic and challenging 13 mission campaign for the DCS F/A-18 Hornet that will test both your and your aircraft to the limits. DOWNLOAD LINK: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3326679/ Before we get into the details, there are some requirements that you need to be aware of before downloading and flying this campaign. • You MUST own the DCS F/A-18C Hornet Module • You MUST own the DCS Persian Gulf Map • You MUST own the DCS Supercarrier module. NO LONGER REQUIRED • OPTIONAL: For realistic Iranian F-14 markings, download this amazing skin (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304485/) by sadjad_vosoul on the DCS User Files section. Mission documents are included in the zip file. Please read the Bold Cheetah Campaign overview for more details on installation. ******************** Bold Cheetah is designed for a player who is proficient in the use of the DCS F/A-18C Hornet module and its weapons systems. You will also require knowledge of US Carrier operations and how to conduct operations off both aircraft carriers and land bases. Examples of challenges you will need to be able to perform include: 1. Case 1 and Case 3 operations, day and night 2. Ability to meet time over target requirements 3. Dynamic re-tasking in a fast-paced combat environment 4. Advanced targeting pod and weapon system employment 5. Formation flying. In addition, familiarity with US military terms and abbreviations is helpful to understand what is happening once in flight. A glossary of useful terms is located at the end of this guide to help you out. ******************** INSTALLATION This campaign is designed and tested for DCS the latest Open Beta version.. I will endeavour to keep it updated as new Open Beta versions are released. I highly recommend players use the Open Beta version of DCS to get the most from this campaign. This means it will not work well on any version of DCS that is not the latest. Unzip the contents of the download to your C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Missions\Campaigns\en folder. Since there is not currently an Iranian F-14 skin in game, I have used the amazing IRIAF Blue-Grey skin by Sadjad_Vosoul, which can be downloaded here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304485/ Download and extract that file into your C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Liveries\F-14B folder. If you do not have a folder named F-14B, then you can create one in that location, then extract the contents. If you do not do this, the Iranian F-14 in-game will visually appear to be an American Tomcat. Once you download and install the campaign and skin, you will find it in the “My Campaigns” section listed as F/A-18C – Bold Cheetah. ******************** SITUATION UPDATE JUNE 1, 2013 The USS Abraham Lincoln and its task group have taken up station in the Gulf of Oman, and will soon commence air operations in support of the invocation of Article 5. The objective of our presence is to deter the Iranians from any military expansion in the region, and to show our allies that we are here for them. Our goal is to provide support to the UAE governments in fighting the growing insurgency on the peninsula. US, British, Canadian and French special forces are now on the ground, helping advise the UAE military in counter insurgency strategy. The air wing will provide assistance to this effort, including Close Air Support over and on UAE territory, and air defense of UAE and Saudi Arabian airspace. At this time, we will not be commencing any military action against any regular Iranian military force, nor will we violate the 12-mile Iranian territorial waters or 12-mile airspace boundary. However, we will be ready to strike, if and when called upon. It is hoped that once the regime in Tehran gets a taste of our presence in the region, cooler heads will prevail and they will de-escalate. ******************** More information is included in the Docs folder inside the .zip file. ******************** Author’s Note As you may know, the release of Bold Cheetah has been delayed for quite some time. In fact, the campaign has been completed for well over a year now, but due to some real-life challenges I had to put off submitting it as an official, 3rd party developer. These challenges are continuing, and I foresee them continuing into the near future. This situation has, unfortunately, caused me to pause my pursuit of releasing Bold Cheetah as a 3rd party, paid DLC. At the same time, I’m aware that I’ve been promising it’s been “coming soon” for far too long. I have decided to release the campaign, for free, into the User Files section of the ED website. I started working on Bold Cheetah back in 2018 and finished it up in 2021. It’s been a lot of hard work, and I’m really excited for you to finally enjoy it and I look forward to your feedback. Hi all, I hope this post finds everyone well. I'm not really a big-time poster here on the forums, so apologies if this post is in the wrong area or not the right thread. With the pending releases of the Afghanistan and Iraq maps and the introduction of Global War on Terrorism ground unit participants (insurgents, insurgent-type vehicles, etc.), I wanted to offer my experiences as a USMC JTAC to any of those who are looking to get a more realistic experience with JTACs in their campaigns, missions, or even to Eagle Dynamics (who I'm sure have a long list of individuals with a wealth of knowledge regarding this topic). While DCS does an okay implementation of an AI JTAC, it leaves a lot to be desired. Ranging from Air Control Measures, actual communications and their meaning, the execution of the 12-step process for CAS, rotary wing 5-lines, to Gunship/Apache Call for Fire, I'd be more than happy to advise on the implementation of such unit types to get the highest level of immersion. Having completed my first campaigns (FIWOS and Debden Eagles Campaigns) and seeing how much room there is for customization and scripting, I think there could be a lot to explore with JTAC implementation within campaigns and missions. I'm sure there are more JTACs/TACPs/CCTs in the community that would also be willing to chime in, but I figured I'd get the ball rolling as I haven't found any sort of posts for advisement/implementation. In short, I'm here to help the DCS community get the most immersive experience when flying campaigns and missions. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. Thank you for your time and happy flying!

We are looking for Veteran DCS Pilots as we build our initial cadre. For our purposes, a Veteran DCS Pilot is defined as a pilot who is proficient in basic airmanship and all of the combat systems of their aircraft. If you meet this requirement, please continue. Air Combat Command is a newly organized Air Force group of dedicated virtual Pilots that are looking for disciplined, humble, persistent, and selfless candidates. We hold ourselves to a high standard in basic airmanship, procedures, tactics, and knowledge. Air Combat Command offers an in-depth, detailed training pipeline to give students (of any skill-level) the best chance of succeeding in our ever-evolving complex missions. We value teamwork over a lone wolf, surviving over killing, following procedures rather than winging it, and assessing every situation with the intention of winning. You will be tested and evaluated at each step in the training pipeline. We are looking for pilots who want to perform at a high level. We will be asking for more than the bare minimum from each member, in and out of the jet. If you want to surround yourself with like-minded individuals who come together as a team, this is the place for you. Current airframes open for recruiting: F-16C, F-15E, A-10CII, C-130, HH-60 Please message me with any questions you may have and I will get back to you as soon as possible. "Mil-Sim" Rating 1-10: 8 *Age Requirement: 16 *Active Participation: Required The link to our ACC Application: https://forms.gle/jP6iojrgdykeXF2z5

As of late August, any mission either from mission menu or the campaign menu will randomly end to the debriefing screen with no cause. Can be flying around casually, and poof! Debriefing screen. Does not appear to be confined to any one module as its occurred in every aircraft ice attempted to fly. I have Uninstalled and re-installed DCS, removed all mods, and checked game file integrity via steam, no resolution so far. Issue presents in both open beta and stable release versions. Any tips or info would be appreciated.

I am writing a set of missions depicting a low intensity skirmish between two fictional small African nations. It will take place in the north of Cyprus, with multiplayer slots for two aircraft, and playable from Red and Blue sides (probably as 3 separate .miz files, red, blue and both). Blue have taken delivery of a small detachment of ex-Israeli AH-64Ds. Their orbat is a mix of new/old mostly western kit. They have no offensive fixed-wing assets Red are equipped with ex-soviet kit, with the playable units being the MiG-21 and the Mi-8 The scenario back story is as follows... Bluefor: Equatorial Mirumba, thanks to revenue generated by recent coastal oil reserve exploitation has begun replacing its older military hardware with small amounts of modern western equipment. The relationship with their Southern neighbour had always been frosty, but never hostile, however the recent coup and violent tendencies of Field Marshal Kijambiya are well known and a cause of real concern for President Mutello. The Mirumban Volunteer Army has increased border patrols and all forces have been brought to readiness. The newly delivered AH-64 gunships will prove critical to maintain the safety and prosperity of the people of Equatorial Mirumba. Redfor: Having secured power in a military coup, supported in large by the population of The People’s Democratic Republic of Kzama on promises of economic reform, Field Marshal Kijambiya casts an envious eye over their small but wealthy neighbour to the North. Feeling pressure to make good his promise and wanting to maintain momentum, Kzaman People's Army troops have been harassing Equatorial Mirumba's border patrols with sporadic skirmishes and intimidation. The Kzaman Peoples Air Force's small fleet of mostly outdated ex-soviet hardware is primed and ready for further operations into Equatorial Mirumba's sovereign territory. However, aware of Mirumba's recent spending Field Marshal Kijambiya is worried that any delays will only make the job harder, and possibly not achievable at all. It is now or never. Decisive action is required if the oil wealth of their rivals is to be seized. The first couple of missions will be ready as soon as the Apache drops, six total planned.

DISREGARD I was messing around randomly trying things and I noticed that the year was set to 2016. Then I remembered that SCUDS were a big deal during the Gulf War in 1991, so I switched the year and that gave me the option to add them. I can delete this post if the admins want. ### Hello everyone, I just installed Combined Arms into the latest version of DCS. I see existing available Combined Arms missions but I don't see any way to add units (a SCUD for instance) to my own missions. I watched a video and it seems there should be a "missiles" category in the ground units section, but I don't have that. I haven't tried any other kinds of units. Am I misunderstanding what Combined Arms is supposed to allow me to do? Is it just that I haven't found the right way to do it? Am I experiencing a bug? I did a search here in the forums and ended up with a thousand returns spread over 40 pages, so if the answer is in there and I didn't spot it I apologize. Can anyone help? Dave

I'm sure this has been covered but I just can't find it: Specifically, all red Air Defense units cannot (do not) target Allied air units under Advanced Actions / Triggered Actions > Perform Task > Attack Group. HOWEVER they can/do target ground units. Is it me - am I doing something wrong or is this a bug? I just can't believe this hasn't been discussed before now. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, John

add setCoalition fuction to match getCoalition function
Drofseh posted a topic in DCS Core Wish List
There are a lot of requests already on this forum in support of the idea of having additional sides or coalitions beyond the existing Red, Blue, and Neutral, I fully support these requests, and they should also include functions to set the hostility of the different coalitions. In a similar vein adding a command that woud allow units or nations to have their coalition switched would be a welcome addition to DCS. My use case for this is that I am making a mission in which the players will be primarily operating inside one country (UAE on the Persian Gulf terrain). I would like to have AI air patrols in adjacent countries (Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia) that will only become hostile only if they players stray into the airspace of the adjacent countries. My current work around is to have the AI flights always as Opfor set to Late Activation, and then activate them with a triggers shaped to the airspace of the adjacent country. If I had a way to change their coalition I could have them set to Neutral and actually on patrol, then use a fuction like setCoalition to change them to hostile if the players stray into their country's airspace. Possible implementations of a setCoalition command could either change the coalition of the entire nation, or just of a specific unit, or add a command for each option. Examples: Change unit's side CoalitionObject.setCoalitionUnit(coalition.side) myPlane.setCoalitionUnit(RED) Change nation's side coalition.side.setCoalitionCountry(countryId) RED.setCoalitionCountry(73) -
In other words, although I understand the Campaign Builder interface, I don't quite understand how best to use it. It seems to me that persistence from mission to mission would be what really makes campaigns work best. Right now it seems that the missions in a campaign are relatively unrelated - the outcome of Mission 1 doesn't drive the situation for Mission 2. So does anyone have suggestions about how to squeeze the most out of the Mission Builder? I know it's a wide-open topic, one that could easily take dozens of written pages or a few hours of video tutorials. I see small parts of the whole being addressed, like the nuts and bolts of using the interface or the little finishing touches that can add to the realism, but has anyone done much about the actual logic behind creating a campaign? Thank ya'! Dave

There isn't a single thread about it here? Ok it's not a campaign but the pedigree is obvious. Yesterday we flew it with a few people (6 to 8), wow, I haven't had so much fun online in a long time. We were all impressed and thank you Reflected for this mission and work. Very well done! Other ideas: 1/ is it possible to have something like this but for Normandy 2.0 map in the future, in a larger area including the new Normandy 2.0 features? 2/ maybe you can create even payware campaign for multiplayer (10-15 missions) a little more expensive, with the possibility of replacing a human AI possibly and vice versa 3/ pls do more enemy! (can choose from the menu at the beginning of the mission a/ easy, b/ medium, c/ hard - quantity.) Thanks again for Fortress Europe!
