Same here.

Update: Even with just the throttle plugged into my new powered hub, it still disconnected.

In M2, two times in a row something goes wring with triggers. Once, Smoke extended, but never called the fight, and just stayed 40 nm from WP4. Second time, he didn't even separate at WP4, even though the dialog about it triggered. In M3, there was no triggers after radio calls for the second refuel. I rejoined the tanker, tried flying formation, then just refueled by myself and RTB. No other dialogues were triggered after the call to join the tanker. Track for M2 attached. M3: too large a file. raven.trk

I will try again, but just now Smoke did not initiate his fight. I stayed around WP4 waiting, he just kept orbiting around 35 nm away. No other story events happened for 15-20 mins and I gave up. Any ideas? Is it possibly caused by me moving away from WP4 too far away?

Yeah, I get it... I started a case on paypal. I think I will ask for a partial refund and live with it. Maybe it will be fixed one day. I really can't be bothered with returning <profanity> to China and buying a new set right now...

What kind of GPU would you need to drive the super? I have an RTX 7900 XTX with the crystal, and it barely cuts it... The original Crystal has local dimming, it has to do with the display type I believe. It makes dark scenes look better. It is nice to have, but I wouldn't say it's worth the price upgrade for the Crystal light, especially since most people don't do a lot of night flying in DCS. For other games, maybe.

Is the default F18 campaign decent/worth playing?
PawlaczGMD replied to PawlaczGMD's topic in Missions and Campaigns
So I passed this mission by loading LGBs for my flight. However the following mission I am also getting killed by strelas around the target. Does anyone have any tactical advice on how to deal with this if you have to drop dumb bombs on target? I will be within the strela range, and I won't spot it without labels. It seems like the attack has at least 50% chance of me dying to a random IR missile. I could of course load maverics and jdams, but let's say I want to try completing the mission with close to default loadout? -
I am really struggling in mission 2. It seems impossible to do with the loadout. The Strela at the target point is wiping everyone out, and it's extremely difficult to take it out with dumb bombs or guns. I've resorted to editing the mission and loading one maverick for it, although it feels cheesy. Still, after killing it, my wingman can't even kill a single vehicle, and I can barely kill any. The cluster bombs are very unreliable against the BMPs. I've loaded just GP bombs, but the BMP snipers are annihilating me when dropping... To kill half of them, I need almost perfect accuracy. You get the point. This doesn't seem to be designed well for how the game works currently. Is every other mission going to be like this, or is it worth playing this campaign?

OK, but I also got a high quality hub, (Anker 36W, $40 USD), and it has not resolved my issue, and that's a fact.
-
Interesting. I have owned them for about 6 months, so it makes sense that I had the disconnects from the start. Did you try to ask in a ticket?
-
OK, so with one 40W USB hub, with both joystick and throttle plugged it, it still disconnected. So do I need 2 separate hubs? This is ridiculous. I will try one device in the hub, and one in the PC for now. I will open a dispute on paypal.
-
You can set up both scenarios of course, but it's usually a huge handicap to fly with heavy bombs in air to air. Loadout for a2a: as many aim-120C as you can fit, plus a couple of aim-9 for close-in. A2G: you have a large selection of weapons, TV-guided Maverick is probably the smartest and easiest to use.
-
Yeah I can post the result, give me a week to see if it still happens properly. I also have around a week left on paypal, but I don't think I will bother... I might try to milk WW for a coupon for my troubles and having to buy a hub.
-
I had one disconnect since messing with this, but I think the frequency has reduced. I also think it might matter where I plug it in on the PC. Since things point to this being the issue, I got a 40 W hub and will see if it cures it completely.

The rockets are awful because DCS lighting, especially at night, has serious issues. Bombs are not going to help.

RAZBAM Situation Post Archive (will be deleted)
PawlaczGMD replied to Rhinozherous's topic in RAZBAM
Why are so many people like high school girls, gossiping about who said what for hours here? We know nothing concrete about the incident. Let them work it out instead of bringing up some speculation and drama every day. -
No, but we're looking into it, it was mentioned in another thread...
-
Probably have to wait until they implement raytracing. This is just a symptom of a general issue with lighting in DCS. I hope they rework the system completely rather than just patch the carrier. For now, the best thing to do is max out gamma, and use NVG.

AI ignores hard deck
PawlaczGMD replied to CrispyRoboChicken's topic in MiG-21bis Constant Peg Campaign
Yes, this is annoying. The other BFM campaigns (Maple Flag) just remove the hard deck, which is much better if the AI cannot behave. They still occasionally crash into the actual hard deck -
Getting Shot by Baron 1 right after takeoff
PawlaczGMD replied to PeakPaladin's topic in MiG-21bis Constant Peg Campaign
Same problem here, there were multiple times where the AI was attacking me when it shouldn't have. On takeoff, while landing, and during BFM before I press space to initiate it. This is over missions 1 and 2 so far. -
You are conflating the shortcomings of air AI with the fact that there is no AI assistance in some multicrew modules. The general air AI shortcomings are being worked on, and it is currently OK for most AI planes, so it's not fair to attack it in this thread. On the other hand, the Mossie should have a rudimentary AI pilot that at least flies straight and level when you jump to the navigator seat, I am surprised that this was not done. The navigator seat is fully modelled, but it is basically unusable in SP, which is how most players will realistically interact with it. So it is a lot of wasted work.

Bump for this. For me, the problems are, from the most serious to least: -Basket has no real physics, it simply follows the tanker in a fixed position. Not affected by aerodynamics or collisions. I don't think we need damage modelling, but the basket should have a collision model. -If you don't request refueling properly, the basket will have no interaction at all, and the probe will just pass through it. This is especially bad on tankers with dual basket pods, as you have no way of knowing which one is "intended" for you. A real bummer. - The hose also is missing good physics, it looks and behaves in a really basic way. This is mostly a visual problem.

Tomcat is much harder to do aerial refueling than hornet
PawlaczGMD replied to Ddg1500's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
It's probably too easy in all navy planes in DCS, as the basket has no physics, and goes out of its way to plug in for you if you hit the probe anywhere inside. I would like to see realistic basket physics one day.
