  1. Registration is now closed. Brackets and schedules will be coming soon! SATAL is coming! Get excited! Also, all team lists have been updated here on the forums. Updates to The Merge website will be coming this weekend.
  2. I should add that our server is located in the same data center that the 104th server is in. Because of this, if you get a decent ping to 104th the same should hold true for ours.
  3. Welcome to the Ravens and the new additions to the already registered teams rosters! For anyone that has requested adds to their teams I have updated all of the rosters locally here on the forums and am finishing up adding all the new additions to The Merge site. I have also setup a discord. This discord is for SATAL only and can be used for anything in regards to communication with the event and the staff/eachother. We will be posting updates to schedules, rules, and streaming there as well as here on the forums. We would really like as many of you as possible to join there and not just team contacts as it will greatly help our communication with everyone and make this event run as smoothly as possible. This is especially true as this event is almost a year long and communication throughout will be paramount. Look forward to seeing you all there. https://discord.gg/Q6P9Auz
  4. I actually just went through calibrating my folding trigger and I couldn't agree with you more. Documentation is pretty poor. If you need help with the folding trigger let me know and I'll hope on voice with you if you need it. I was having major problems with it before I figured out how you needed to calibrate it.
  5. 51st PVO would like welcome Tacview to SATAL and thank Vyrtuoz for his generous contribution. Tacview is already a staple in the competitive DCS World scene and having Vyrtuoz and his amazing Tacview platform with us will make SATAL that much better. Vyrtuoz has graciously donated 9 licenses of Tacview Advanced as prizes for SATAL; 6 for the winning team and 3 for the runners up. Get excited guys! SATAL is shaping up to be one great ride!
  6. I know several guys that have good luck using VPNs to lower their pings. I know that sounds strange, but it does work for the people I know in both India and China. My guess to why it works is that the VPN that they are using is using a different route/path from their machine to the destination host. Ive seen the VPNs reduce pings by more than 50 in some cases. Worth a shot if you haven't tried it already and are looking for possible solutions.
  7. Squadron Air to Air League - Starting February 2018 Squadron signups are closing soon! Signups close January 24th. If you would like to sign up or would like more information, click the link below. Prizes include Heatblur modules and 500 Euros cash! SIGNUP FOR SATAL 2018

  8. Not much in DCS is done in a realistic way. Yes, there are 2 missions on 104th that are East vs West, but they usually result in a 1 sided mess where either the East or West has all the pilots. Having all the aircraft on both sides makes for a more player balanced fight. Not to mention you don't have to worry so much about weapon balance with AIM120's for example. When you go East vs West it can turn into one massive mess with people complaining about balance and player numbers. Just go read the Blue Flag threads to get an idea of what it can turn out like. I never said it was always Mirages. Ive been TK'd by F5's, Flankers, Eagles, 21's, really any module in DCS. What I said was it's mostly Mirages. Its this way on Blue Flag and Dynamic Caucuses as well. Hell, its that way on really any heavily populated PvP MP server. Most people that fly a lot of DCS in PvP MP will agree that when you get TK'd it is almost always a Mirage. Its normally because they forget to turn on their IFF functionality. So, even if they get someone in radar its going to say they are a bandit because their IFF is off. After the Mirage it is very likely a Flanker because they shoot at you from IRST without IFFing you. Saying that, I have no idea where the F5 and 21 discussion came from. Most of the IFF issues are from modern jets which is why I get so peeved about it. They have no reason to not IFF targets they are shooting at. When me or my buddy get splashed by a friendly F5 or 21 we get it. You don't have an IFF. Still sucks and I think they should be punished, but I get it. The modern fighters.... No excuses and that is where I get upset as again it happens way way more than you seem to think which is way the 104th are having to take a harder stance on it IMO. Harriers don't normally play a part in the TKing as they are segmented more to the A2G part of the map and don't normally partake in the air quake. Second the Mirage is an advanced flight modeled aircraft. So is the F15 an Su27. Saying that, I assume you mean you like clickable cockpits. The Mirage again is a fully clickable cockpit so I'm not sure where you're going with this comment. All I'm trying to bring light to, which I think others are understanding, is that there is an issue with TKing on the server. Just because you've only been TK'd very little does not mean it doesn't happen to others more. Ive been TK'd 3 times in the past week and the guy I fly with is up to around 5. I know that is hard to believe for you, but it happens more than you seem to believe. Maverick has already said that they are taking a harder approach against it which I am very happy about.
  9. They didn't have IFF, but they could and would ask if there were any friendlies in the area over comms, which again, is why comms are so important. If other aircraft or coordinator said there were not supposed to be any friendlies in the area then they would engage the bogey. I know its hard that we don't have segmented aircraft on each side, but its just something that we have to contend with.
  10. As Maverick said, you need to ask in chat, TeamSpeak, SRS, or call the GCI and ask. Its one of the disadvantages of flying the older or less complex planes, but you need to know that going in and not just shooting the first thing you see because you're unsure. Comms are really important and need to be used.
  11. Registration will be closing on the 24th of January. If you need to register I suggest doing it before then so you can get a spot.
  12. Seeing the kill messages when I get TK'd? Im confused why you think I'd lie about this. I understand the occasional TK from an F5 or 21, but its starting to happen very very often from all kinds of planes that have the IFF capability. Furthermore, it doesnt matter if your plane can IFF or not. It doesn't just give you a free pass to shoot at whoever you want. Like Maverick said, chat, GCI, SRS are all options for getting information. Maverick, its great to hear the harder stance on things. Will be greatly appreciated. On a side note, are you guys going to reset stats at any point for this year?
  13. Thanks for the link, but I don't see a solution there. Is there something that I can do on those 2 screens on the configurator that can help resolve the issue?
  14. When the flip down trigger is in the up position meaning you cant use it as a trigger what is its proper behavior? Should it be activating a button? Im getting inconsistent results with it in its default configuration. Sometimes it activates button 25, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it activates button 25 when flipped up, but stays on when I flip it down and sometimes its the opposite, its off when its up and stays off when flipped down.
  15. This is just an assumption you're making. Most of the team kills are by people in Mirages. The Mirage is perfectly capable of IFF. Also, to further contradict your point, now that 104th has GCI, people flying the F5 and 21 should only do so in a2a combat when a GCI is on so that they can ask for a declaration of side before engaging as they should. I think it is a lot of new people. Maybe we need to add something to the briefing about IFF? One guy that TK'd me when he as in a Flanker thought that since I didn't show up on data link that I must be a bandit.
  16. Team killing become a major issue on the server. I personally have been team killed 4 times in the past 2 days and been shot at way more than that. Is it possible to make punishment more applicable than just a kick? It seems that some people just don't check IFF. A lot of these team kills are coming from people with guns and not your typical IR missile which makes it even worse as the time for IFF is through the roof.
  17. Is there a how-to on installing new firmware? Also, is there a change log for changes made in the firmware and Configurator?
  18. Is it possible to run a macro on a short press of a button and a tempo for the long press?
  19. I feel dumb, but that was it. New question. Is there literature on what the different button types are and what they do/mean in the VKBDevCFG? I know what 'button' and 'tempo' do, but all the others, I have no idea.
  20. I didnt see that listed in the instructions. Should that name be highlighted? Out of the house, but will check when I get home. Any reason why button 24 is not detected in wizzo? Everything else seems to be. Is it an issue with telling the black box what type of grip it is, i.e. the mcg pro and not just the mcg?
  21. Anyone else having issues with the VKBDevCfg-C and Wizzo? I am now having configuration issues with the stick. VKBDevCfg-C does not see the stick at all. I only have Actions Tools and Settings as tabs and all options in them are greyed out and unselectable. On top of that, my flip up trigger is no longer seen in Wizzo. Wizzo sees the full button pull, but when I flip it up Wizzo does not recognize button 24. This is what my cfg looks like as soon as I launch it.
  22. Fog of war should be working. There will be testing that occurs before SATAL start, but everything should be working just fine.
  23. 51st PVO would like welcome LotATC to SATAL and thank Dart for his generous contribution. Having Dart with us in SATAL will surely make this event even better. We, at 51st, are very excited for what is to come. As for the contribution, each team will receive a free client license that can be used for the event. This license has no restrictions and can be used outside of SATAL for training or recreation. I will be contacting each team soon about the free keys for LotATC. If any other registered pilot in the event would like to purchase LotATC for themselves, a 25% discount will be given.
  24. Mind if I throw this in my mod pack?
  25. All good. Glad you got it working!
