  1. The A10C is far too new for this time period isn't it? Didn't the C come out like 10 years ago?
  2. The problem we have at present with human controlled GCI is their ability to see all missile launches. If that issue was not present I'd be all for human GCI.
  3. Maybe instead of shilka you should switch to zu23 open aa? It makes more sense during that time frame and is easier to kill.
  4. It really seems like the issue involves civilian traffic. Ive never seen it on until the past couple of days and this directly relates to when the server started having massive issues with warping.

  6. Yeah something has changed from a couple days ago. There is a lot more lag now and the server is in a constant state of failure. At the airfields Im getting 15fps and that is with a 1080 ti. In the air Im getting under 50 which is under half what I normally get. Its been this way on every mission that has been up today.
  7. Is SARH september starting today? Missions still look like they have active missiles on them.
  8. I really appreciate your openness to my points whether we agree or not! Regardless, the event was fun. I don't mind doing ATC or consider it boring. I was just butt hurt I couldn't do GCI. In the future though, I really think we should try to get all of the aircraft out of a single airfield as it would improve ATC and make airfield traffic more realistic for missions.
  9. I dont think LotATC is a possibility as I think it bring in lag. Im just regurgitating what I have heard. I have no first hand experience with it.
  10. I really appreciate you guys putting these things on, but I have a couple of things. 1) Why does 104th get 8 pilots in the event while everyone else is limited to 4? I know its your guys even, but it gives a massive advantage. Flying with people that you always fly with gives you a big boost. Move that number from 4 to 8 and it gets worse. It was like this when I was in high school with sports. High school teams were only allowed a certain number of players from the same club teams outside of school because it was unfair for other teams to have to compete people that played together year round. 2) Why was the missile limitation not in the briefing? On top of that, it really seemed like the missile limit on 120C for the red did nothing as they were still using them 4-5 hours into the event and firing a lot of them. 3) You guys can disagree with me all you want on this point, but as I was ATCing I was trying to keep a general tally on what planes were getting kills and with what weapons. Id say 90% of all a2a kills in that event came from Eagles with 120Cs. That in and of itself should show you what an overwhelming advantage having active missiles is with an organized group. It may have been a little different had the flankers had data link or if we had GCI, but for some reason people think that is taboo even though the real plane had it and the Eagle, though a decade newer that is in DCS did not in real life. Also, there is no way that in any modern air engagement that any side that has AWACS capability would not use it. 4) The lack of GCI is baffling. We are playing a modern combat sim. We had GCI for the Saber vs MiG 15 event, but not for modern gen 4 fighters? I understand that JTAC doesn't work with it, but I don't really think JTAC is all that needed. It was really evident how uncoordinated blue was and I think a lot of that has to do with pubs coming together. There is really no way to keep it organized without outside help from a GCI. 5) Though blue won most of the ground war I know a lot of people were very disheartened in the a2a scene. Its really not fun to take off and get slaughtered. At the end before I left, after 4 and a half hours, blue had 4 fighters left and red had 13 still with 120Cs even though there were supposed to be limited. I know its not all about winning, but it is still about having a good time as this is a sim and not real life. 6) People really need to show up when they signup. I know 51st is just as guilty as a lot of others as we had a couple not show, but it does cripple the event. Blue was supposed to have 30 fighters and we ended up, I think, starting with something like 22 (could be wrong on that stat). Red started with 19 or so. That means the air fight was even, even though blue should have had more pilots given how it was laid out in the briefing on the forums.
  11. I stand corrected on my fuel assumption. It carries 100kg more than the Flanker. It just weighs more. Not sure if the added weight included weapons though. I agree that it's a cool plane. I just want to see how it performs. I've stayed away from it mostly because of it's simple flight model at this point. I think that will change when the new one releases.
  12. Pretty sure it doesn't carry more. I thought 9 tons and it's 1000lbs heavier, but I guess I could be wrong. I'd wait to see what the 33 is like with the knew pfm too before we make a decision to scrap the Flanker.
  13. I'd still like to see both. The 33 doesn't carry near as much fuel if I remember right. I think it's also less counter measures. Maybe split the numbers? Just cut the current number of Flanker in half?
  14. Talking in absolutes, and acting like you're speaking for the BF team is kind of a crappy thing to do and I don't have a problem calling people out on it. Second, how can you even say that the Harrier will just be on blue and then follow that up by saying the Hind will be a on red. The Hind does not even have a release date and could be years away for all we know. If you want to have a conversation about balance and things of that nature why doesn't everyone talk in the forums in a civilized manner instead of acting like they are the next Maverick or Goose and responding to people like they run the server. If the ER is given to the Flanker for some reason I really think the Mirage should go blue only. Yes, I would like separated air frames as much as the next guy, but one of the biggest problems in DCS I think is our lack or different air frames, the era gap between those frames, and the imbalance of weapons because of that era gap.
  15. I do like the idea of lengthening flight times and moving the server further away from air quake. Makes budgeting fuel, time on station, and distance to ao much more important.
  16. Why DL over ER? While I would like the same, but I think we would have to test again what server performance would be like. maybe it was not confirmed that DL was the culprit.

  18. I'd like to see what would happen if the mirage was moved to blue and the Flanker given the ER with no data link since it seemed like the admins were saying data link was causing lag.
  19. You can launch the updater manually and a lot of times that is what needs to be done. Open a command prompt in the bin directory of DCS by opening a Windows explorer window and navigating to the DCS root directory and finally by holding shift and right clicking the bin folder. Select the option for open command prompt or power shell. If you open power shell you will need to first type CMD in the new power shell window to change to command prompt mode. Once done, type dcs_updater.exe update This will start the updater and update DCS for you.
  20. I think the issue smokey is talking about is more people jumping on the steam roller while its in motion. When there is a 3x1 or 4x1 or even 5x1 on the server actively playing, on red or blue, people have a tendency of joining the side with the much higher numbers. This is something that was happening when RvE was more active on Blue Flag. There would be 30 people on blue and 5 people on red and every new person that would join during that restart while the number were like that would go blue. I really don't think there is a way to fix it, but I think that is more of what smokey was referring to.

  22. You need to remove a set of files if you are using a pack I uploaded a few weeks ago. Go into my mod pack and delete /Scripts/UI. Delete the entire UI directory and it will fix your issue. Make sure to reload the mod pack if using OvGME or Jsgme.
  23. I think a lot more of it is the complexity and scale of blue flags scripts and the sheer number of ground units it has. Maybe I'm wrong though as open conflict and through the inferno both have a lot as well.
  24. You can increase smoke from destroyed targets, but contrails and missile trails are a bit different. Smoke passes IC, but contrails and missile trails do not.
  25. There was a mod that you could use before I that did just that so I know it's possible. The reason it's limited is I think it adds to the strain of the gpu.
