  1. Indeed, for me if it disappears it does randomly in the first 10min or so. Most of the times it happened to me was online on Burning Skies server.
  2. I am all for a compromise as that is what a simulation is, afterall. Revisited 3d model to simulate what pilot sees is good enough and will be as a whole closer to reality. What pilot sees is part of the whole package and is as important in recreating a plane's experience as is its FM (which was, is, and will be always a compromise; yet people ignore that fact for some reason).
  3. Nice logic there... if mistake is repeated multiple times it makes it a valid solution :lol::lol: And no, this lack of understanding of basic physics dates well before 2004 and it was always an issue which was expressed... it's just you who were unaware of it.
  4. While you do not see the point, others do... plus you wont lose anything by ED including it.
  5. Dietrich, R2 has extra armor (chk attached pic). However due to icing/foging problems addon glass armor was not used most of the times.. As for armament, instead of outer mg151/20 it used mk108. Regarding the numbers produced I do not know. However it was primary plane for units like: IV.(Sturm)/JG3, II.(Sturm)/JG4, II.(Sturm)/JG300
  6. We need at least R2 (with and without extra armor) as it was the most common Sturmbock. Also an option to turn A8 into F8.
  7. Indeed, I wonder where did they get the idea that clear glass was tinned as in A8... even more why such difference when they have exactly the same revi16b in 109k correctly tinless :/
  8. If this is your first dcs ww2 module, I would advise to get some other plane first as A8 might turn out too frustrating in PvP. It is the least effective plane in whole set and requires a strict discipline to be remotely successful with it. Also note that it is still in very early access state so some things are still waiting to be ironed out.
  9. Haha... :D Well Grimes can reproduce it, so I think we are set :)
  10. I noticed AI flying in reverse in a A8 free flight mission on caucas.. one of the planes which takes off infront of you makes a turn reverse in level flight :)
  11. This would been acceptable if all planes followed such pattern. Indicating that only Germans did not know how to maintain their planes is a bit too stretched fantasy (I am not saying that you are implying it). P51 and Spit perf in DCS are within 1% error for max setting while A8 is much worse and that is not right. Personally I am not about hitting every number square on, however relative performance must be in check for realistic PvP to work. ED has shown with other planes that they can do it, so I am optimistic that A8 will get some love in performance details...
  12. OK, I made now tests at 0, 2, 4, 6km and plotted on the graph you have provided.
  13. grafspee, yes TAS. Also note in screenshots that I used info bar with TAS.
  14. I did a trial at sea level to see how does engine performance match the performance charts and I have found out that A8 is underperforming in DCS. I have used manual rpm control as auto did not allow for proper power settings. Test were done at 4300kg and w/o pylon 2300/1.2 - DCS: 480 - RL: ~507 2400/1.32 - DCS: 511 - RL: ~532 2700/1.42 - DCS: 537 - RL: ~557 It looks like in DCS A8 is around 20km/h too slow at sea level.
  15. But they are and they are not a straight climb either... operationally you want to be at some desired speed at the time of the intercept thus programs involve accelerations in your climb profile. Also available Ps changes with G, and you need G to maneuver, which again influences how to climb for minimum time. You can say that -1 manual have general profile (whatever it was desired) but you also have tactical minimum time climbs...
  16. it is important to notice that 350 is until you intercept 0.95 mach then you fly mach number. That being said there are for sure (based on the existance for other planes) tactical manuals for specific climb programs which are not public.
  17. in mil jets manuals... military power climb is tabulated for fuel efficiency, while max AB climb is minimum time.
  18. Here are few photos which show A8 from july 44 onward with indication of "erhöhter Notleistung":
  19. Yes, I've proven how silly your point is :)
  20. @NineLine I got that from ww2 luftwaffe ace Meimberg who is unfortunately now deciesed.. so I cannot give you a definite confirmation you look for. You might have more luck checking book like: http://users.skynet.be/Emmanuel.Gustin/index.html
  21. But dont you see how silly that idea is? Fact is that button size and position is to not be able to trigger it if you are not really trying hard to get finger into a hole... it's as silly as my nail comment. Safety function should work as intended -> to not activate guns by mistake. We can not do that now, and that is wrong.
  22. I agree with Wulf. The excuse written above is laughable... it's like saying, we should be able to shoot 20mm with safety on, because you can use finger nail to push it...
  23. MG/FF - yellow (late blue) MG151 - blue MG131 - blue MK108 - yellow MG17 - orange
