Here are two pictures I've posted in other similar thread:

Dual combiners are used to increase FOV of the display with a single projector. To put it simple, each glass has different reflective wavelength. So half of image is reflected on lower glass the other on upper.

As Wags had introduced GBU24, does that mean we can expect the correct guidance method for Paveway II? As of now it is guiding as III (proportional) instead of "bang-bang".

Various ways for solving the triangle: p.s. that is how it is in rl... however in game it most of the systems are not simulated (yet), so it is simply cheating with perfect information

That video of radar is pure let down... a shame really... seeing how updates are not synced, no clouds, radar cell resolution of AESA, ... I really hope that the postponed release will improve these as else it will be a no buy from me... p.s. what's with cockpit illumination... flashlight in the middle of the day to see anything?
-
It can be turned off... you need to wait 2-3seconds.

YoYo explained to me, that they opted for not simulating this effect due most users not having FBB and as it is FC3. This however does not mean that SAS is not working behind the scene. I argued that why it is so as other autopilot stick movement is simulated, but there was classic "FC3" reply.

Here is sample from 29 manual on how the DLZ is calculated. It shows briefly how it works with enough detail to see what all is being calculated at Rmax1, Rmax2 and Rmin.
-
For me it depends how will they solve the fantasy radar of mig19... if they cannot do properly that radar, there is zero chance they are capable of correctly simulating mig23.
-
That is not the truth.. it is even more complex system. Prolly one of the most complex ... along the F14

We are talking about only the flight stick force.. not the actual forces on elevator, etc. Pilot interface only. And since real F18 spring is set to the force I've mentioned in its max deflection it is a valid metric in DCS virtual pilot strength. I would prefer that option as well, Voodooman.
-
Hmm.. might be misunderstanding here... we are talking about pitch axis of flight stick (enough space there). In F18 when pilot pulls max deflection the force to hold that position is around 18daN for the pilot. As this can be done w/o any constraints in DCS, my question was then, if virtual pilot is the same in both cases (109 and 18 (I am not touching FC3 planes here)), what is the force when virtual pilot cannot do that and starts lagging behind our physical joystick?
-
Thank you Yo-Yo for taking time... I am sure you know that kinematics of K elevator is different, but anyways.. even if we ignore this, the main question in this topic is rather about virtual pilot's ability for achieving rate of flight stick deflection - at what threshold stick force rate cannot be matched with our joystick's? The question which follows is, how come only WW2 birds have such pilot model while jet do not in DCS? I can pull instant 18kg (max pull) in DCS F18.

When someone says that is not how K4 should fly, it means primarly the piloting technique. Most of us understand the reason why ED choose their implementation, however the side effect of it is that once you start to deviate from the cruising flight into more aerobatic, the technique is less realistic than if there would not been as much lag. That is a fact either you like it or not. That being said, I doubt we will ever see a change on the implementation, so either one needs to get used to it or fly other planes/sims.

I concur with Кош and Vitormouraa ... from the video, cockpit is extremely dark to be usable during the day... a problem effecting all razbam's cockpits... hopefully this will be corrected at the release... which gets me to the radar. Is it considered done? As it has been observered above, the update rate is not in sync with an antenna sweep. Also ground noise return is quite strange. It looked like a fixed pattern of crt blooming?
-
This is the lag effect of the virtual stick as it is catching up and thus closer it gets to your joystick position the more it feels as a sudden pull... the reason is that most of the times we will miss the intended joystick deflection, setting it to far because pitch rate feedback was lower than wanted (because of virtual lag) and when virtual stick syncs with our joystick we are overshooting wanted pitch rate, even causing a stall. This is because when you go toward center stick, there is no virtual lag. Lag is applied only away from the center.

pmiceli, the 40lb is not a made up number as silly as it might sound to you. As for data... there are studies publicly available which have sampled data where one can see for each type of control what can be considered acceptable avg. However that being said, I agree with your assertion that when * hit the fan, all these fly thru the window... Personally, I would not bother simulating pilot stamina the way we have now, as having lag in controls introduces PIO and makes everything even less "realistic"
-
if anything it is way too conservative... but that being said, what I find strange is that only ww2 birds have this "simulated"... i.e. I have no problem pulling 40lb (max deflection) in F18, while in 109 even half that is already a big problem for a pilot.
-
A question regarding these... Since planes need to be kept within 70deg until first merge... what happens if both want to force merge to different direction.. above example gives a dive.. but if other pilot climbs.. who should obey whom? Or is 70deg limit only in horizontal?

Having RIO subtitles option should go well along the general DCS radio coms which have such accessibility feature already implemented.
-
while we are at it... I wish there would be none color chromatic aberration in the sight as it is BW crt..

Make sure to double check if there might be a problem with cross control mapping (it can happen that you get more devices mapped to the same function with default settings) Next one to try is dead zone setting. In my config I had a problem if it was set to 0.
