  1. It depends on the size of the the fighter doesn't it? The Mig-21 is pretty small, a Mig-31 should be picked up at a longer range.
  2. I just tested it 0.88 mach at 1500ft, 0.92 mach at 17000ft and 0.92 mach at 30000ft. Both AFC and ALT Hold worked perfectly every time. Are you trimmed properly when engaging?
  3. > This doesn t happen at F18, where u can pull as hard and as long as u like. The Harrier doesn't have fly by wire, there are no computers sorting everything out for you or preventing you flying out of the envelope. It's harder yes but more rewarding when you get it right, same deal with the F-14, F-5E, prop planes and helos.
  4. That’s how it is in real life. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=243377
  5. It only happens to me if I try it before I have taxied 100 yards or so. Seems to need a certain distance from the init location. Whether this is intended or not I don't know.
  6. Seems to work as expected in the latest patch which has patch notes for various ALT functionality. Inverted at 3000 ft the HUD altitude shows the flashing B and goes back to R at 45ish degrees angle of bank.
  7. So why doesn’t ED offer a server license for the carrier module? Obviously at a premium price, once installed on the server everyone who joins the server can use it. Individuals can buy the module in the normal way for personal use as well.
  8. Guess the journo just picked the first stock Growler photo he found.
  9. Thanks Baltic. I've been flying the Harrier since release and have only started trying out the training missions in the last week. They are awesome, they are a proper learning experience that puts all the other modules' training to shame. Really well structured, educational and I've learned much more about the Harrier and it's systems than I thought I would.
  10. I’m not sure why that might be, I’ve flown a couple of missions successfully as “Devil” using ATC and tankers. I haven’t tried other callsigns yet though.
  11. Update on this modifiers seem to work fine for me if using a keyboard modifier button but not a joystick button.
  12. Is anyone else having problems using modifiers? I fly VR so map extra buttons to my Warthog with the pinky switch as the modifier button. For example pinky+DMS down brings up the kneeboard. With the F-14 I have to press the button combination twice for the kneeboard to appear, releasing the pinky switch between button presses. I use pinky+the weapons release to switch labels on/off but just now instead of dropping my bombs it turned the labels on without the pinky being pressed. Two attack runs failed this way and I could only get the bombs off by unassigning the labels from the modified weapons release. I don't see any issues with the FA-18, Mirage, Harrier etc. just the F-14. Short track on the ground showing this attached. First time kneeboard opens correctly, then needs double-press to close and another double-press to open again. NWS (pinky+uncage) also requires double-presses to engage and disengage. f14.zip
  13. So based on this when I change: callnames( country.FRANCE, 'AWACS', makeTable('Cyrano','Roxanne' )); callnames( country.USA, 'Tankers', makeTable('Texaco','Arco','Shell','EXXON','CHEVRON','DRAGON','HESS',)); to: callnames( country.FRANCE, 'AWACS', makeTable('Cyrano','Roxanne')); callnames( country.USA, 'Tankers', makeTable('Texaco','Arco','Shell','EXXON','CHEVRON','DRAGON','HESS')); It loaded successfully with the additional callsigns showing in the ME. I think only the second line makes the difference but there was a tab or extra spaces at the end of the first as well.
  14. Hi Jaybird, No crash log that I can find, relevant lines in dcs.log could be: 2019-03-17 09:09:35.092 ERROR SECURITYCONTROL: Manifest size check failed for file './Scripts/Database/db_callnames.lua' 2019-03-17 09:09:35.092 ALERT Dispatcher: Error running Scripts/Database/db_scan.lua: [string "./Scripts/Database/db_callnames.lua"]:120: unexpected symbol near ')' 2019-03-17 09:09:35.092 INFO DCS: application shutdown and possibly: 2019-03-17 09:09:35.306 WARNING EDOBJECTS: lTypeObjectManager::Create() doesn't exist. 15. Unfortunately it does the same for me. Either following the readme instructions or using JGSME. Strange it works for some people and not others. Regardless, thanks Jaybird for your work on this a greater variety of callsigns is badly needed and I'm sure someone will work out the issue some of us are having.
  16. Yes, Heatblur mentioned this on the Alert 5 Podcast interview, I think they said it cut the align time to like 2 or 2 1/2 minutes.
  17. After today's OB patch the KC-135 MPRS has both drogues streaming before you declare "ready pre-contact". This is more realistic from what I read around the forum. After clearing contact I couldn't make contact with the right drogue (probe went straight through it), so I guess you will still need to be a multiplayer 2-ship to use the right drogue. It would be nice to use the right side occasionally when flying solo but I guess the tanker logic is controlled by ED rather than RAZBAM.
  18. RW03 for takeoff and RW21 for landing is always used at Nellis regardless of wind. This is to avoid flying over a densely populated area (doubly important with live ordinance)
  19. A fan of the movie Hot Shots by any chance? “Yankee Doodle Floppy Disk, this is Foxtrot Zulu Milkshake”
  20. The fusing and security of a nuke need to be pretty precise, you don't really want them being dropped unauthorised or on the wrong targets...... Nukes have a few extra requirements than your typical dumb bomb. The ballistic challenge of getting one in the correct place is the easy part.
  21. No, the British free fall nukes were retired late 1990s.
  22. You realise you are in ED Forums at the moment? It's not the impression you would get from reading most of the threads.... The silent majority agree though.

    AV-8B+

The Sea Harrier FRS.1 was pretty much brand new at the time of the Falklands Conflict rather than old. The FRS.1 had the Blue Fox radar so they had onboard BVR (just about) sensors. The Argentinians did not lose any Etendards in the conflict but Pucara, Mirage III and C-130 can be added to the the Sea Harrier kills. I guess its arguable why the Harrier pilots were so dominant in 1982. I don't think the Harrier is intrinsically a great dogfighter. It's likely a combination of a superior weapon, better training, not being at the edge of fuel limits in the combat area and significantly training in DACM with French Mirages before heading South.
  24. Agreed there is no place for the BL755 on the AV-8B NA. There are some pretty big differences with the the GR.7/9 and I suspect software/wiring differences were not insignificant. The GR could carry Sniper XR and TERMA pods on the belly gun pod stations for example had the Zeus ECM suite, always fitted the outrigger pylons and also commonly used British 540lb dumb bombs, Brimstone and CRV-7 rocket pods. I would love to see all of this in game but we need a GR.7 or 9 which RAZBAM have said previously they would do if they can get the info.
  25. 2000ft/min is 33ft per second, so actually 3.6 secs for 120ft.
