Question is, what about those who don't want to do additional homework. And let's not forget another hurdle: Language! Sure somebody living in the UK or US probably has no problem joining a Teamspeak where most likely English will dominate. But what about the many players from other countries? Our community consists of a lot of players who didn't learn English at school, and even if they learned, they may not want to hurt your ears with their version of English ;) What would you do, when you were forced to join a German or French TS in order to play online? Would you really join such a server? Honestly?

IMHO a built in communication-tool should have a very high priority in a complex simulation like DCS. Today games live through multiplayer - and DCS is no exception from this rule. However, to bring the arguments to a single point and back to topic: IMHO we, as a community in a narrow segment of the gaming market, should invite all people onto our servers, show them what communication and teamwork can do with this wonderful simulation and convince them this way to join our comms or squadrons. Not the other way around.

IMHO this is one of most devastating thing happening to DCS-multiplayer. There is no better way to turn new players away INSTANTLY. Only a tiny minority of players looking at playing this game online by joining a squad right away. IMHO in fact nobody does before playing under a different name on an open server, just to get a feeling for what he is up to. IMHO the number of people jumping freshly into multiplayer and join a TS enforced server right away is just as small. The result: 3 Servers out of 14 on a saturday night are without password. These 3 servers are filled to the max, 3/4 of the passworded servers are completely empty! If you don't want to play with "noobs" on your server, it would be by far better to have servers running without password, possibly with easy missions, until you and your teammates join the server. Then you can still ask players online, if they'd like to join you on TS or rather leave before locking it. But you would give interested players a chance to learn the game online, instead of forcing them in a runners-team, just because they want to go out for a walk.

Depends on when you played BC2. When it was released, you at least had a chance to kill a helo with a tracer and a Anti-Tank-rocket. Now the helo reloads chaffs to remove this tracer faster than the guy on the ground can lock on or even reload the tracer. No chance to lock up unless you really team together with 3 or 4 people. Sure, possible still, but if you have to group up with 3 or 4 players to kill a single guy in a helo, expecially in such a basic-realism game as BC2, there's something gone seriously wrong.

As long as they don't overpower aircraft like in BF2 or BC2, I'll be happy with anything they come up with. I'd at least vote for a needed landing to rearm your jet... I also wouldn't mind a helo that takes less than 3 direct hits with a 120mm gun to at least scare it away...

I doubt they'll do it on foot as well.

Well, officially Pakistan is "working together" with the US against terrorism. :music_whistling: If you check the news regulary, US-aircraft and helicopters were flying over Pakistan for quite a while already. So far, they just concentrated on a few miles around the border-area.

...or the government, that built this fortified villa in 2005 just 200m from that elite-traning facility? In a strongly controlled garrisson-town?

Not sure if this has been posted before. If it has, it surely deserves a bump :D

I really hope this is not your original serial-number. :music_whistling: Please remove it ASAP.

Did you try changing the page with UFC- and CDU-Keys?

The difference between an X65F and the TM Warthog is about 40 Euros. But it's worlds apart from both, the G940 and the X65F. Definitely worth saving more now than regretting a hasty decision.

Please help me choose a HOTAS
Feuerfalke replied to Invisibull's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Agreed. The X52 is a good bang for the money. With the precision/sensitivity-Mod described, it's even better. Sure other sticks can do more, but they also cost a lot more! And if you buy a new stick, you should definitely consider where you want to put it. The TM WH, for example, is nothing you can comfortably put on a desk. It's a replica of something at hip-height. And that's where you should put the throttle-unit. CH-Products still one of the best HOTAS. Fighterstick with ProThrottle is a good combination to put on a desktop. While they are not really close replicas of anything in look and feel, they are very ergonomic (especially the throttle) and very easy to program. You can also increase functionality a lot, if you fiddle around with the advanced programming. Th G940 seems to have improved. They're still not flawless, it seems. If you want a force-feedback, I guess there's no way around. Big plus is the included rudder-pedals. If you don't have them already, that is! Well, my 2 cents. I have/had the X52, the TM WH and the CH Fighterstick + ProThrottle. IMHO each has it's pros and cons. None is flawless. None is perfect. It depends a lot on the sims you fly and the style you fly them with. -
Actually it seems Gandalf, Dumbledore and Yoda are the same guys.

Poll, did you like your stock TM Cougar? Yes or No
Feuerfalke replied to Sticky's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Too stiff for me, just as the TMW. If I'm fighting with aerodynamical limits I don't want arm-wrestling with my joystick. I want precise control. What is fine for jet-sims just sux for WW1/2 or helos. -

Yes. And it does recenter, even if you release it fully pushed to either limit. -

I don't have a problem with the plastic. CH makes plastic all over and their sticks are all very high quality. Something that you don't get guaranteed for a metal joint. Besides that, I've already modded my TMW. I'm simply not a friend of 400 Euros Arm-muscle-trainers. As a friend of mine said: Planes have to be flown with two fingers, not like a constant fight with white knuckles. I was pretty sad they didn't make the spring for the stick adjustable, but I simply removed it. Instead I moved the 4 smaller springs on top of the ring. Now the friction along the steel tubes is largely minimized and the stick is very smoothly move-able to all extends. No center play, no uneven resistance. Very comfortable. And you don't need to be Schwarzenegger to make little precise adjustments in a dogfight. Besides that, it eases the pressure on the plastic balls. Works nice for me. -

Just make sure you buy 2 sticks, not 3 or 4. The i5 has a dual-channel controller, so it will most benefit if you have 2 memory-sticks installed. -
Yep, that's the trick. The throttle is not at all uncomfortable to use. But if you have the throttle on a desk, you should put something under the far end or you will break your fingers, when moving the TAD with full throttle. In this regard it's the exact opposite to the CH Pro Throttle, which is entirely shaped for desktop use, completely disregarding any realistic shape.
