  1. also use the throttle. you know dropping gear and flaps is going to increase drag so increase throttle to compensate. to keep the nose up. then when you have it on speed, reduce throttle to control rate of descent.
  2. its the way ASW dupes frames to keep at 90fps, rather than have the system draw every frame. the system draws 45 fps and ASW tries to insert dupe frames every other frame. you get graphical corruption especially in things that spin. or items moving along a conveyor belt etc. a constantly repeating image. so ASW off in helicopters and ww2 birds is kind of mandatory. with ASW off tailor your settings to stay over 45FPS and most of the issues go away. you might notice more of an improvement with the shader mod :) as it makes a difference here :)
  3. in the Russian aircraft don't forget the r27 T in BVR fire one of those first before you lock them up with the radar and fire a r27 R then if they turn away from your radar missile (to notch) they will show their hot exhaust to the IR head on the T you launched first. make them face radar and IR missiles in BVR.
  4. double vision is usually when the frame rate drops below 45fps. and it happens the worst when you look 90 degrees from the direction of travel. ASW can help. but its best to adjust your video settings so you stay above 45.
  5. it used to be that you needed oculus home running for the try tool options to work. so if it is not turning of ASW do you have oculus home started? I run DCS with home disabled so use the ctrl-num1 to turn off ASW.
  6. ASW? that usually causes it
  7. the harrier glides like a brick :) that's why it does not need hydraulics after the engines fail. it has little stubby wings and is reliant on a scary thrust to weight ratio to stay in the air. you have enough control after engine failure to point it somewhere safe before you eject. so why waste any more money on it?
  8. also when a tracer round deforms on impact the chemical tracer can become detached. so if you hit a rock you may see the tracer bounce up. when the round stays deformed in the rock. the tracer component is light and wont penetrate much, so is more likely to bounce. if it detaches. so a lot of the splash of tracer is from deforming rounds. because bullets don't stay bullet shaped after impact. they tend to break into pieces.. so don't imagine whole bullets bouncing away with the tracer. although a few whole ones will bounce like sharkku says. cannon balls were more deadly when the ground was hard because they would bounce through column's of infantry.
  9. good answer. turn CCIP into CCRP just like I was saying :)
  10. the warthog is great, but you have to take the return spring out to make it stop hurting your hand. the throttle works great for planes and reversed Axis it works great as a collective for helicopters. (pull instead of push)
  11. flying DCS for a couple of hours is the best way to stress test :) it sure beats watching a BM number crunch for hours.
  12. the mirage is not the only aircraft to use the mk82 and the snakeye. so airframe does not really matter. my Vietnam example was thundercheifs and phantoms which none of us own. but it does work in the harrier and the a10c. although the a10c is a bit slow for low fast CCRP. those options for mirage do not fill me with confidence though. i can see why you cant hit anything. in every other plane i would do it the opposite way round.
  13. CCIP is the most accurate form of bombing. but its also the most dangerous. dive bombers are easy to see and engage. CCRP is the least accurate but also the safest for the plane. you fly above MANPADS and AAA one way to increase CCRP accuracy without decreasing its safety to much, is to CCRP from very low altitude. ie 50ft instead of 15000ft. and at 50ft you can terrain mask to hide from anyone shooting at you. but the mk82 you drop will kill you if you drop them at 50ft. so they invented bomb retardation. the snake eye. try CCRP bombing from 50ft using a ripple of snakeyes. using terrain to mask your approach and egress. you are supposed to flash over them and release before they even know you are there. you just have to look at most of the Vietnam war footage. this is the tactic they use in all the bomb video. snakeyes and napalm CCRP dropped on a treeline from 50ft. snake and nape baby. blow up anyone in the open and suffocate with carbon monoxide, anyone in hard cover. you cant run and you cant hide. you can CCIP with snakeyes but why would you want to? a slick mk82 is just as accurate and you can drop it from higher, which is safer.
  14. I did say none of the sims gets it right :)
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsp0kGrwXW4&t=5s that I assume describes the 2nd crash with an interview with the pilot. yes its a documentary :) has interviews with a few guys who survived mach ejection.
  16. in the SR-71 example. I think the guy who died ejected. and the guy who survived didn't eject. and survived the total disintegration of the aircraft without a scratch. to find himself in freefall.
  17. ww2 fighters have very thick armoured glass upfront. and 5 inches of glass acts both as a prism and a lens. and none of the flightsims model it correctly. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/printthread/Board/366/main/390182/type/thread here is a guy with a block of armoured glass showing some of the issues. and you will notice the glass is slightly green. yes it is for a fw190 but the spit is the same.
  18. you need a bigger mask size because you see a bigger area than in the vive. I use 0.605f and yes its the line you highlighted.
  19. you need to land near the farm stead near the river. not near the farp. beside the town. head down the valley towards Georgia about a KM. from where you took those photo.
  20. get into a stationary hover and note the degrees of blade pitch needed to maintain it. because this is the amount you have to have to hover. so when coming to a stop and the vibrations start, raise the collective till you have the same blade pitch on the blade pitch indicator. if the rotor starts to slow down and the generators fail then you raised the collective too quickly.
  21. sometimes you will get a big slow down in missions when you do something for the first time. for me I got a massive pause in the harrier when I dropped my first bombs. and its all to do with the continued rebuilding of the shadders. lasted long enough for me to take off my HMD. the next time I dropped mk82 everything went fine. so if you zoomed in on something and it went into melt down. I would have waited to see if it finished. because I zoomed in just as my bombs hit and got a 20 second pause. the OP does mention this as well as the length of the first load.
  22. are you waiting 3 minutes for the IRMV seeker head to cool down? after you first select the maverick you have to wait till its says RDY. you cannot access the view when its not cool.
  23. I have a set of noise cancelling headphones that cost me £350. I use the rift audio :) because its just as good and I don't need another wire to get tangled in when I use the rift. wires that you cannot see are a health and safety tripping hazard nightmare :) not such a problem if you sit and fly. but if you room scale....
  24. windows may report the program as having stopped working on first load because it takes a long time to rebuild the shaders. so it takes an age to get into the hangar with the mig 29 and menu. and it takes an age to load the first mission. but after that all is good. so start it and go make a coffee :) if you are having issues with it loading.
  25. great mod. works well. I can turn the view range up and MSAA on. Thank you. Persian gulf looks great.
