SU-33 Heavy Sky campaign delete it
skliff13 replied to Iskra's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I mean that before PFM they did manage to take off easily (however, overall takeoff procedure was half-scripted). Now AI's can do it only with minimum fuel. -
SU-33 Heavy Sky campaign delete it
skliff13 replied to Iskra's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Carrier seems to be already at its top speed (~60 kph) in these missions. I think the main issue now is that with new FM AI's simply dont know how to take off correctly :) -

Yep. As expected, with new PFM Su-33 AI wingmen simply fail to take off from carrier - they just fall into water. And you're left alone to complete the task. Hoping, this will be fixed in future. Some existing workaround for now is to reduce AI's amount of fuel: for AI at takeoff position #2 - to 20% (otherwise he failt to take off), and for AI at position #3 - to 60%. -

SU-33 Heavy Sky campaign delete it
skliff13 replied to Iskra's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Fist of all, thanks for all the work done! But did you test this campaign with new Su-33's flight model (available since September, 22)? Things seem to be a bit different now :) -

Low performance
skliff13 replied to guilhermemtr's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Because on Nevada and Normandy the things are even worse. And in the future on the updated Caucasus 2.x it will be worse as well :smilewink: I also have similar troubles since I'm using a damn laptop. The best thing I could do is to reduce screen resolution (from available 1920 to 1600). The overall picture doesn't look good, but at least it's pretty playable in DCS 1.5 :) I'll stay in this thread for a while, maybe I'll see some useful tip or trick here :book: (One of the advises i saw before was to turn off mirrors if possible) -
Low performance
skliff13 replied to guilhermemtr's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Just interested, is this all about old Caucasus or newer Nevada/Normandy locations? -
Also had this problem. Finally, JTAC answered somewhat after almost all the targets were destroyed.

Mission 02 - Instructor Airspeed
skliff13 replied to PinkyandBrain's topic in A-10C 16-2 Red Flag Campaign
Yep. As soon as the instructor got close enough to Nellis AF (several miles) 'MISSION SUCCESS' popped up. Thus, there is kind of a workaround which makes life a bit easier. You takeoff and fly together with the instructor for a while, and after WP2 (or maybe earlier) you push 100% throttle and fly through the rest waypoints alone, leaving this bugged loser behind. No need to maintain close distance. After flying the route you land, park and then go cooking/sleeping/fishing/watching youtube videos/etc. for approx half an hour. Once the instructor is back, the mission must be finished successfully. Or, maybe, you don't even need to visit any waypoints, I don't know. Maybe developers will make this clear. -
I dont think so. Just level flight several meters above the sea surface for reasonable time (accelerating from lower speed, without diving from above). Trimming also applied. However, with shutters closed I could achieve 375 mph or very close to it. With 'automatic' shutters the result is ~15 mph lower. I'm aware that with radiators closed I can overheat and break the engine, but at least this way I can surely outrun Bf.109K at low alt. The time before overheat is usually sufficient to gain significant distance when pursued by a Kurfurst.
-
I'm not sure of course, but don't you need to close radiators for maximum performance? It seemed to me that I managed to gain the desired 607 kph at sea level with radiators closed for minimizing drag.

Mission 02 - Instructor Airspeed
skliff13 replied to PinkyandBrain's topic in A-10C 16-2 Red Flag Campaign
Yep, bug still takes place. Just right now, as I'm writing this message, my instructor is on his way to Nellis at speed of ~130 kn. Whilst my A-10 is already waiting at the airfield. Just wondering, will the mission succeed when the instructor finally lands? (ETA ~30 min). -
F-15C: 16-2 Red Flag Campaign Briefings
skliff13 replied to Wags's topic in F-15C 16-2 Red Flag Campaign
Just wondering. In \Doc\ game folder I found briefings for 10 missions. However, the campaing was marked as 'Completed' after finishing mission #9. Just wondering, is it a bug or a feature of some campaing update? Anyway, it's not a big problem since one always can (and I've alrady done this) lauch mission #10 through .miz file. -
Through The Inferno (Dynamic DCS) - Public US Server
skliff13 replied to deadlyfishes's topic in Multiplayer
Hi everyone! Just wanted to ask. The fact that i need to waste time to refuel from sractch every time after spawn - is it a bug or a feature? -
Imo it's not only about AI. Say, I could never overheat engines in Kurfurst or Mustang as quickly as in Spitfire - not even close. In Spitfire it's pretty easy to get from ~100 degrees to fatal 130 just within several seconds. In DCS, Spit's engine temperature seems to drasticly depend on airspeed. Temp starts to rapidly increase when your airspeed is very low. It feels like engine propeller does not create any airflow that could make radiators work at all. In contrast, in the case of Bf.109 or P-51, when you stall with full throttle the engine temperature does not increase so rapidly.

Just sharing some thoughts... Recenlty I've been watching a random video where the guys are fooling around in DCS and one moment made me laugh :) (roughly from 10:12 till 10:37) Bf.109 accidentally took five hits into his right wing from allied MiG-15: four 23-mm hits and one 37-mm hit. And 109's pilot did not even notice a thing untill he looked at his wing. Hopefully, introduction of new damage models will make Bf.109 a bit more fragile. At least more fragile than a B-29 :smilewink:

09:30 "If Mustang goes into a spin it takes 9000 feet to get out of it." Gotta check this in DCS! :D :pilotfly:

Надо же! А я слезно упрашивал ребят из SteelBalls, чтобы они свой сервер временно вернули на 1.5, чтобы на Кавказе хоть какой сервер был.. Что ж, будем тестить.
-
Hi guys! I was just pleased to fly SteelBalls server in DCS 1.5 Caucasus map. Since I can't have Normandy right now (weak computer) and no new WW2 servers appeared in DCS 1.5 recently. And seems like I'm not the only one who's happy :) I would like to know when else SB server will be available on Caucasus. Will you be toggling between Normandy and Caucasus? Is there any schedule for that?

Spinning the Spit (and other warbirds)
skliff13 replied to philstyle's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
I restored the pitch saturation and carried out some minor tests of spin and recovery. Small video: And the description: * Test #1. Only pitch used, no rudder. The behaviour doesn't look like a spin at all. No visible tendency to Autorotation. To recover - simply release the stick. * Test #2. Pitch + 50% left rudder. The plane spins nicely. Pushing the stick forward leads to an immediate recover. * Test #3. Pitch + 50% right rudder. The plane spins. I released the stick and after 3-4 turns the plane recovered automatically. * Test #4. Pitch + 50% left rudder. Same as in (3), the plane recovered by itself after 3-4 turns with stick centered. -
