I know this is late, but coincidentally I just did that a few days ago (except I changed my position to farther from the instrument panel, instead of closer, but also increased my zoom). First you need to go into the DCS Options screen, into the Misc. tab and enable User Snap-view Saving. Then you have two ways of changing your position inside the aircraft: A) Start a mission, use your mouse (or TrackIR) to move your head to the desired position and then hit RightAlt + Num0. This will save the new position (write it as default position in your SnapViews.lua file). You might need to hit Num5 after that to activate the new default position (don't remember if this was necessary). B) Instead of the above, you can edit the SnapViews.lua file manually: Go to this folder: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\View Open the file SnapViews.lua and find the part that refers to the UH-1H (shown below). Find the value that I marked in red below. Increasing this value will shift your head forward. Increase it (I would start with 0.100000), save the file and test in DCS until you reach the desired position. You don't need to restart DCS each time you modify the file, but you need to restart the mission. I'd say there's a good chance DCS will still be around in 2050. And maybe with a few competitors, if we are lucky...

AIM-7 Performance

Have you tried to evade the current AIM-54 in DCS yet? Last time I tried it was MUCH harder to evade than the AIM-120C... -
Which full sim modules you'd like in FC3?
PeaceSells replied to Katmandu's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
Ok then. -
There are some additions that I think should be simple to implement but would yield a huge benefit to multiplayer: - Misssion Planner Screen: single player has it, so why not multiplayer? I guess currenlty the mission planning is done by the mission creator, he defines waypoints for all units, etc. That would be enough for simple scripted missions, but nowadays we have servers that run these dynamic PvP campaigns that evolve across the whole map. A mission planner for players and commanders is kind of indispensable. On top of that, if commanders could draw commander stuff on the map (request CAP locations, escorts, strikes, etc) and players could see that on the Mission Planner Screen, it would be nice. Or something like that. - Option to hide what aircraft and airfield each enemy player is using from the Choose Role Screen. If you are on Blue, you see only Blue, if you are on Red, you see only Red. You can only see the quantity of players on the enemy team. If you are spectator, you see nothing, except quantity of players on each team. And you don't read their restricted side chat either. Don't have to be exactly how I'm saying, but please give us SOME planning option. AFAIK ED intends to add a much requested dynamic campaign system. But what's the only one thing that's better than a dynamic campaign? A dynamic campaign where you fight against human players instead of AI. It also has the benefit that you don't need to code and implement all those AI to behave in a dynamic campaign. Just give some simple tools to the misison designers that are already doing an excellent job in those popular dynamic PvP servers!

Which full sim modules you'd like in FC3?
PeaceSells replied to Katmandu's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
I said a 3d model doesn't make an aircraft, I didn't say all non-fidelity modules are the same, they are very different among each other. Still the F-15C is not an F-15C and the A-10A is not an A-10A. And they aren't the same between each other, that was you. Stop ingesting hallucinogenic substances. -

@Flogger23m: You can't be serious. I say "Using the 3d model of an aircraft doesn't make it be that aircraft" and from that you conclude that I said "if the module is not of full fidelity the only difference between the two are the 3D models". Don't you think you're stretching my words to your convenience? Yes, you are finally seeing it. -

Dude... what are you smoking? Anything different from the current FC3 ones would perform different from the current FC3 ones. Again, what are you smoking, I didn't understand anything you said. -

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
PeaceSells replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Blue Flag is the best server from the ones I've played, but DCS multiplayer (and DCS as a whole) is not in a state for that IMO. I've gladly invested in hardware and modules (and don't repent a single bit), but currently don't play as often as I would like. That initial awe from those incredible aircraft now gave place to the realization that I have nothing to do with them... So I've postponed the purchase of the Hornet and the Persian Gulf (hopefully not for long), and would have done so even if I wasn't in a such "delicate financial situation" like I currently am. Anyway, I can't thank you enough for putting in all the effort (and money), I certainly don't have the right to "demand" anything (like I jokingly did on the other post) but it's all just limited by DCS's own limits right now. There's time to invest and time to wait, and I will wait this one out. -

When you implement the Persian Gulf map, you will still keep a server with the Caucasus map, right? I DEMAND a server with Caucasus. -
AIM-7 Performance
PeaceSells replied to HawkDCS's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
I've heard ED is redoing the AIM-120 for the F-18, so it will be more realistic than the current F-15 one. I suppose then that the AIM-7 given now to the F-18 is also a new one and not the same as the one on the F-15. -
I know sometimes the credit card operator wants to be sure it's the actual owner of the card that's making the purchase. Once on a purchase I did on another site, the credit card operator phoned me asking those kind of questions you described, before authorizing the payment.

Transcendental profound questions: If you don't have the info to do an Eurofighter, will that be an Eurofighter? Using the 3d model of an aircraft makes it be that aircraft? Does flying something like that really scratch your itch to fly an Eurofighter (or another plane) in DCS? -

Move FC3/4 aircraft radar to the newer model?

Move FC3/4 aircraft radar to the newer model?
PeaceSells replied to StandingCow's topic in DCS Core Wish List
What I'm asking is have you guys actually experienced differences in locking, etc, in the F-18? Don't forget that it's not an air superiority fighter like FC3 and it's radar is supposed to be weaker. And that FC3 will also lose lock on maneuvering targets. Regarding the antenna beam, I guess all modules simulate that in one way or the other. You can notice even on FC3 that contacts aren't detected automatically when you point the aircraft to them, you must wait the antenna to hit them. You can see the antenna movement on the screen of the F-15. BTW, how did you make that beam show up? That was cool! -

I don't own the F-18 and I'm curious to know the difference between it's radar and the FC3 radar. -
Smart scaling is just one of possible solutions and, although I have defended it, what I want is SOME soltion, not necessarily smart scaling. My impression (I could be wrong) is that ED is trying a different solution: increased contrast between the aircraft and the world. After a good time not doing any close range dogfights, I recently installed 2.5.2 and let the gamma at the default value of 2.2, instead of lowering to 1.6 - 2.0 as I was used to. I also don't use any AA (in-game or external) and use a 1080p monitor. I'm now seeing aircraft get dark and contrast not only against the sky, but against the ground too, which was impossible some time ago. Also, it's happening not only with "dot" aircraft, it's happening with medium and close range aircraft too. I started the mission "F-15C Agressors", where I always had difficulty seeing the enemy (F-5 plane with desert camo over the Nevada desert) and now I can maintain visual contact on them for about 80% of the duration of the dogfight, while before I couldn't see them for about 80% of the duration of the dogfight. I don't know if it's the effect of gamma or if something changed with 2.5.2, but visibility is definitely different. Also, not using AA causes the aircraft to shimmer, making them more visible.
