Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
exray replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Just got the email from VKB about pre-order pay dates being pushed to Dec 15... I guess that's official. Sucks though, was hoping to have the McG before all my time off for the Christmas Holidays. Don't see them getting in hand before the new year. -
Is this going to be an FC3 module? Because if not, why no clicky F15C?

So the December 1 release date from the website is now incorrect? Any chance these actually get shipped to North America in 2017? -
Holidays are coming: Warthog or VKB

If you want it before the holidays I'm not sure about VKB. -
Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)

Is this thing going to make it for December 1? It's a week away so I'd hope they know by now. -
If possible could we get a screenshot in the WIP 2.5 build of a view of the Hornet from the cockpit of another aircraft about 2-3nm away? I'd like to start training my eyes for what to expect when looking for the bug in the skies at distance. Thank you!

I hope we get a skin like this: -
The fact that we are getting the LHA and that Razbam also did a KC-130 tanker for the module might have something to do with the price.

Strong nay - this just isn't the right platform for these types of aircraft.

Well for example, Chizh said recently in the RU forum that the new Russian carrier would be slipping to next year so clearly things are fluid. Would be nice to get that in an official release. Maybe a "what not to expect in the next few months" list? :)

In November 2016, ED officially announced that 2.5 and the Hornet early access weren't going to make it by the end of that year as originally planned. It wasn't good news, but it was good to be able to temper expectations and get some idea for what the current progress was. Could ED perhaps do a similar update soon? No dates, just status report and set expectations. All of the marvelous videos coming recently (thank you so much for that!) are doing an amazing job of building hype for 2.5... would be nice to get some sort of update on that.

Having a problem with mission 4 - the UH60s with the SF troops won't move in even after the area is cleared of targets. Initially thought maybe I missed a trigger because I flew below 13,000 (briefing says to stay above) but tried it a second time at 13,000+ and no joy. Thanks for looking!

After a number of attempts (lots of problems with going out of bounds, or shooting from a restricted zone) I finally completed mission 2. Instructor says land, find an appropriate place to park, and shutdown for rating. I park at an empty spot, shutdown, then nothing. Exit mission -> fail. What's the secret to finishing it?

Wow it worked, nice catch. Thanks

No it looks the same to me on my computer at home, my iPhone, my computer at work, etc. Maybe I'm just too fussy

2.5 won't happen until Normandy is out. They aren't working on Caucasus until Normandy is done. I don't think I've made any mistaken conclusions. From ED: "We have determined that the DCS World 2.5 update will not be available in 2016 as we had earlier hoped. This is mainly due to additional work needing to be done of the Caucasus map update, and we don’t feel it can be accomplished within the next two months at a high level of quality. Before we can complete this map update, we first need to finalize and release both the Nevada map update and the Normandy map. Those, along with the Spitfire, are now our highest priorities. Once the Nevada update and the Normandy map tasks are complete, our map team can return to the Caucuses map and move the 2.5 closer to an Open Beta release." So the ED map team isn't working on Caucasus now, and they didn't think they could do the work in 2 months... so you've got at least what, 3-4 months on Caucasus before 2.5 is possible? I'm sticking to my Q4'17/Q1'18 prediction.

I don't strongly disagree but a couple of counterpoints to consider that I made to someone considering the F5E as their first module. First of all, within DCS there is no cost to operate or any real danger. It doesn't matter if your jet costs $30 million or $30 thousand or that flying something might be more "dangerous" than flying something else. In real life, this is a huge part of why trainers are important. Training in DCS isn't like training in real life. There is no real instructor teaching you, watching you, correcting you (outside of some bog standard training missions) unless you have a mentor online, which not everyone has or wants. It can help at first to have some assistance. Trainers (and the F5) lack some of the assisting systems like autopilot, moving maps, and a HUD that can make learning how to fly in DCS much much easier. As you get more proficient, you can take the crutches away. I would say that it is far easier to learn to fly something like the M2000C than a trainer (in large part thanks to the wonderful campaign that teaches you essentially everything in an entertaining way) and that is a better learning tool. Just food for thought.

Thankfully Razbam has recently announced that they are doing the A29 Super Tucano (definitely not a trainer) instead of the A27 Tucano. Interest revived for me.

Here's my guess. ED stated that they won't begin working on the Caucasus upgrade needed for 2.5 until Normandy is done. I believe that ED recently added more content (Southern UK) to the Normandy map, thus more development time for it as well. I don't think Normandy will release as planned in Q1 (6 weeks to go). I'll say May release for Normandy and then they get to work on 2.5 I'm thinking Q4 2017 or Q1 2018 for 2.5, based on what ED has said, some speculation, and release schedule history. For a bonus guess, F18 Q2 2018.

Yes I've tried absolutely everything. When the view isn't moving, everything is smooth. When I pan with trackir it does something weird. It's pretty evident if you look at the canopy frames or gauges in the cockpit. Here is a video I shot - look at the cockpit frame as the camera pans and you will see it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Wl2Ebpy_JZI
