  1. Thanks a lot for all your useful input here, guys. I'm glad I wasn't going mad! I'm going to study this in more detail now.
  2. Yes, but that doesn’t really help with your issue. Encoders are not good for things like radar antenna. As button-to-axis they work well for things like HUD brightness or HMD brightness. As axes they can work for radar antenna, but not so well, as the range constantly goes up or down, depending on which you have chosen, when you do one click and then you have to one click in opposite direction to stop it. I personally use the up/down buttons on the hat under the 2nd finger for radar antenna. re zoom, I would highly recommend the ‘conventional’ axis, i.e. the z axis under the 3rd finger. It works perfectly for that purpose.
  3. Sorry to be pedantic, but how can it be a pitch reference on the ladder when it’s not at zero in level flight?
  4. Ah ok, thanks. What is the point of those wings then?
  5. I don't ever fly the F-14, but I thought I'd give it a quick try tonight, and apart from not being able to get the auto-pilot working, level flight seemed odd. Do the attachments look right? I mean when the the velocity vector is level, the vertical velocity is showing quite a big negative value and level flight shows the velocity vector higher than I would expect. Sorry about the basic question!
  6. I know you will disagree, but I feel you're trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist. It seems perfectly logical to me that the hat would drop the button in corners. What would be the point in the corners activating a button. If you went straight to the top right, for example, should it register up or right? Or, if you were moving round, should it go U - U - R or U - R - R? I think I'll leave this discussion now as I feel it is going nowhere.
  7. I worked it out. In fact, GameHub 2.6 automatically adds both DCS exes to the settings file. The user doesn't have to do anything!
  8. Well, I wouldn't use that for radar elevation, but I did try it out. Yes, one click - as button to axis - sends it moving constantly. However, it worked OK for me by just doing one click of the dial to make it move, then one click in the opposite direction to stop it.
  9. The hats are shaped, so it’s easy to orientate the direction regardless of throttle position. But, that’s just my opinion.
  10. Never had an issue with that either. You need to make quite an effort to move to a corner if you are holding a direction.
  11. Honestly, out of all the Virpil devices I have owned over quite a long period of time, I have NEVER had an issue finding U/R/D/L with the hat switches.
  12. I really don’t see what the problem is. If you move the 4 way hat through 360 degrees, it shows U 0 R 0 D 0 L 0 U, which in my eyes that is exactly what I would expect!
  13. Fair enough, but, personally, I would say that is wasting the use of encoders. Any button can do that.
  14. Don, do you use virtual axes at all? I presume you would for the CM3 encoders.
  15. Well, 20220208 is on the main software page of Virpils site, but I don’t recommend that till a couple of bugs are fixed. despite the title of the thread, 20211201 can be found here https://forum.virpil.com/index.php?/topic/5472-vpс-software-setup-20211101-release-candidate/
  16. The live version has got a couple of bad bugs as discussed on my thread on Virpil forums. The 20211201 version ia solid though.
  17. Firstly, Stuart (SOH) is absolutely correct. Never look at VPC Config to see what is happening in Windows. Always use JoyTester. When I look in Configurator, I see the same behaviour as you. However, in JoyTester if I rotate the hat clockwise or anticlockwise, the buttons show up correctly, one at a time. The only issue I have had with Virpil devices hats is that if the centre press is bound, then occasionally that will action in-game when I am trying to get another direction. For that reason, I tend to avoid binding to the centre press. (BTW, Stuart, you're using very old software/firmware from November 2020. You've got a CM3 haven't you? Well, the latest RC 20211201 has the new method of coding the detents and lots of other new features that are well worth looking at. Avoid the one that was released recently, i.e. 20220208 as it has a couple of bugs which will be fixed very soon, I believe.)
  18. Not totally sure, but I think it's because you have not set a reset button. If you look at my graphic, it is set to 70. (Which is a dummy button.)
  19. I read that it was now possible to get both DCS versions showing in Tobii GameHub with the new 2.6 version. Can't see how to do that. Anyone managed this?
  20. Got it working, but no idea why or how!
  21. I bought a Tobii ET5 yesterday, and I had it working nicely with DCS until earlier today. I did uninstall/reinstall gamehub and tobii experience earlier and now DCS doesn't work with it. Elite Dangerous is working fine. Any ideas?
  22. It’s not random. It’s that DCS takes any buttons that are in an active state, i.e. on, and actions them. So, for example, if your canopy button is in the open state after landing in a previous mission, then if you are in mid air in the next mission, the canopy flies off!
  23. As you can see from my earlier posts here, it’s not just axes, as my canopy flies off and my gears go down in mid air!
  24. You wouldn’t want this problem when on mission start your canopy blows off, or your landing gear goes down in mid-air!
