  1. Thanks Greekbull these ones are next level IMHO!
  2. No problem, PLAT movies are my favourite and I am really looking forward to seeing lots of squads making them.
  3. I wish it were that easy! I spent a week trying to work it out but am not smart enough and in the end started offering some talented friends payment to spend some time helping me remove it. It took the input of three of those guys to eventually remove the effect totally. It’s not a simple fix but it’s incorporated into the mod we will release.
  4. Hi guys, there were some difficult changes which I have been working through for the last couple weeks with a great team. We have succeeded in making the view clear TonyG. We are close to releasing our new LSO mission and mod pack to the community, hopefully this week. You can see it at the end of the second video link but we also have a new improved VR view.
  5. Thanks guys! Currently having an amazing time with the rest of the Stingers in the new bird. We are all on cloud 9 at the moment. Have spent the last couple of weeks on a new set of LSO assets and carrier mission which we will release to the public next week. We have created a total package for everyone which caters to airwings as well as squadrons and enables everyone a PLAT overlay for VR and monitor users. You can see a sneak preview of some of it in my first landing attempt video I just uploaded: GUmSYvYU-Cg
  6. Got an exciting email today but I’ll leave it to the CO to announce ;) 14th_Spike picked on everybody. I remember him wanting to argue that sushi isn’t technically raw fish.
  7. A group of us Janes F/A-18 guys got together at Virginia Beach in 2002 for the NAS Oceana airshow weekend. I was in VFA-14 Tophatters but we were very close friends with VMFA-531. Pictured Left - right: ‘Mike’ , 14th_Gator, Habu, CO 531st_Gator, 14th_Prowler, 531st_Hound and me (14th_Jar). 531 Gator was an awesome CO and I am very pleased to hear you guys are starting up again. All resources of VFA-113 Stingers are at your disposal to help get this fine squadron up and flying and we would love to do some missions with you guys.
  8. Thanks guys I’ve got some stuff running for 2.5.1 but am waiting to see what arrives with Hornet / Stennis before I go too far with it. Teetwo the VFA-113 PLAT cam overlay I make is no longer relevant for the new LSO view incorporated into DCS, am working on new ones.
  9. Everyone seems to have found my stick photo but here’s the throttle as well.
  10. IRL I am lead to believe the PLAT cam is primarily a line-up only tool with glideslope being judged by the waving LSO purely visually. This takes viewing hundreds of approaches and many hours of training at sea and at the field. I think the grading is purely based on how much deviations the LSO saw and how good your corrections were. To emulate this with fellow squad mates could be achievable but would be a huge time investment and I don’t know that the current visual clarity in VR is up to it. We have a hard time spotting FAST (low AOA) aircraft in VR (the nose gear AOA light might change this). It would also render the grades ‘subjective’ and that quickly leads to bruised egos amongst virtual pilots in my experience. Once we had a pilot yell ‘B—S—-!” at our old fully virtual LSO when he disagreed with a line-up call. Swearing at our LSOs is a guaranteed one-way ticket out of VFA-113, they are god behind the boat.
  11. hMRiXDw3ogs Having created the PLAT cam mod back around 2010 and developed the VFA-113 grading system with a real USN Hornet pilot I highly recommend squadrons consider adopting a similar grading system to ours. Pilots react badly to grades less than OK and you really need to be able to define the difference between an OK or a FAIR. I have seen so many people become resentful during Carrier Quals because they assume there is some sort of bias against them. Before the PLAT cam VNAO used to have regular ramp strikes every week back in the late 2000s. Since we started PLAT cam grading I can’t remember the last time a Stinger planted it into the fantail. The LSO shorthand you see is real USN LSO shorthand and excellent for trend monitoring. This particular video really hammered FAW because I was tired of typing that next to the same names every week.
  12. Hi Robert, That’s very kind of you sir, thank you. But we are happy to just get F/A-18 and F-14 at public release and start from there together as a squadron.
  13. Thanks for posting this Razor. This Meatball mod was created by Anubis and integrated to the CVN77 mod by CDP Kobra. VFA-113 (and others) have used it in VR successfully for the last couple of years. Thanks again Anubis, I’m hoping the ED meatball will be as great as yours!
  14. Awesome video! It’s very popular amongst our pilots, thanks for using the VFA-113 paint scheme :D
  15. Thanks MWD, ha ha yes finally we can make cockpit videos :D
  16. Hi guys, Apologies for the lack of videos lately but the DCS World updates have finally ended the use of our mods so after 5 years with that beautiful Hornet and a solid year of weekly PLAT videos I have taken the opportunity to have a break sit back and enjoy and watching gamer youtubers completely mess up landing the EA Hornet on aircraft carriers. We are obviously greatly looking forward to Carrier Ops in DCS and just hope it's as good as the amazing Hornet mod from Morkva55, the epic USS Bush mod from Tomcatz and the monumentally perfect Meatball mod from Anubis. Much appreciation to CDP Kobra for his hard work bringing these mods together. Thanks to the all amazing modders I was privileged to work with over the years and to all the fantastic pilots that swung by the Stingers ready room and flew the mod with us. Looking forward to seeing PLAT videos from all the squadrons/air wings and hopefully greenie boards. It'd be hard to do worse traps than what we're seeing from the EA youtubers!
  17. Thanks it has been with me for a long time now and it’s just so awesome to climb in there.
  18. This week we flew a combined mission with VFA-34 and VFA-103. It was a huge ALPHA STRIKE and we had 14 F/A-18C Hornets on the flight deck at once for the brief and launch! hMRiXDw3ogs
  19. Includes a sneak preview of my upcoming home Hornet cockpit video... AlvogEMpudE
  20. Ha ha do you mean the “you’re a little low” sounds like his voice? That’s Curveball, the guy is hilarious. He also made the “anyone find my contact” (blind LSO) joke.
  21. There were a lot of aircraft from VFA-34 Blue Blasters, VFA-103 Jolly Rogers and VFA-113 Stingers in this recovery! g1ryXEepXYg
  22. Nice, RN are awesome. Don't be afraid to take a real USN squadron if you like, there are plenty of them! :)
  23. Hi Gaz are you still wishing to be listed as a Hornet or Tomcat group? I’m adding you as “UK Navalops”, let me know if this isn’t right.
