  1. Hi, Make sure you keep the weapon-release button held down until every bomb has come off. That is the main reason I find for stores not releasing. Cheers, P
  2. Very useful info, did not know this  Thanks
  3. In the UK, late nineties, I seem to remember a good flight sim (or any PC game!) would be about £40 (Falcon 4.0, EF2000 etc), or maybe even more. Adjusting for inflation, that would be somewhere in the region of £58 now (damn, where did that 20 years go!?). At current exchange rate, that is about $80 US. So from my point of view, although I agree it isn't 'cheap', the extra detail, effort and fidelity we are getting now is well worth it, and not expensive compared with good PC sims of the past. Can anyone remember the cost of Janes F18 when it was first released in 2000? Cheers! P
  4. Thanks for your input Dangerman, great to hear from someone who has really been there. Cheers Paul
  5. How did you solve this? I have had the same problem. Thanks P
  6. Ive found that in the final moments using throttle for vertical rate only, and nozzle angle for fwd/backward speed works best for me, keeping the witches hat on the horizon. I don't use pitch/AoA at all (apart from accidentally) The hardest part I find is the horizontal transition over to the yellow line, keeping bank angle stable is.... really hard. Forward speed can be scrubbed off very quickly with the nozzles around 90+ Watching the youtube videos I'm surprised how quickly they initiate the horizontal transition after getting alongside. It seems like sometimes they carry some forward speed into the transition, and only match the deck speed once stabilised in the hover over the deck. Very good fun I must say, well done RAZBAM. Cheers
  7. Thank you!
  8. Hi all, First off, thanks RAZBAM for an excellent Harrier module, definitely a classic in the making, love it. I know that there has always been an issue with mission tracks not always reflecting the reality of what happened, but in openbeta (1.5.8.12265) and the harrier I have found it impossible to record a track that actually reflects what happened in the flight. Just wondering if anyone else has found this? I have set up a simple (ha, yeah right) approach and land to the Tarawa (attached) and would like to improve by reviewing my performance, but the track normally ends with me crashing into the sea, even when I made a decent landing on deck. Anyone else, or just me? Cheers! P Av8B_Tarawa landing.miz

    AM2 - Takeoff

Very cool. GR7 Arctic/Norway skin looks great too.
  10. I *think* O/P means that waypoints do not have box or diamond over them like in other aircraft HUDs. This is something I have been wondering about also. Not sure if the real AV8B has this feature or not. I can't tell from the descriptions of the missing INS features if this is one of them. Cheers
  11. Very funny, well done!:thumbup:

    F5 multiplayer

I love flying the F5 multiplayer. Correct ID of friendly/foe is by far the biggest challenge in my opinion and there is no easy answer. I prefer to fly on the cold-war server where the aircraft are quite evenly matched and the visual ID is quite straightforward. Having said that, when your blood is up, the delta wing of the Viggen looks a lot like the delta of the Mig-21! I must admit that I have downed more than one blue jet, but so have a lot of other people :music_whistling: I have also been on the receiving end of plenty of friendly fire, that's just the way it is! So my advice would be to fly on the cold-war server and hone your visual ID skills. Flying against Su-27/33 and Mig 29 (or even red F15s) is very hard in the F5 (and in my case, normally quite brief :megalol:) Cheers,
  13. Wow, so easy to be misunderstood on the internet. No sarcasm, I was referring to the performance of my Amiga! As soon as the action started, my frame rate crashed:( I agree, a modern Tornado sim would be great. Anyway, back to the AV8B.
  14. Great news. I wouldn't even mind if the additional GR7/9 system performance was just 'best guess', don't shoot me for saying that :music_whistling:
  15. This is what I am planning to do with my Saitek X-45 (still going strong!). Will be interesting to see how well the axis maps to one of these rotary controls. Cheers
  16. JP233, at night, 600 kts+, frame rate in single figures:thumbup: Anyway, back on topic. Thanks for the great pocket guide. I'm really looking forward to flying this jet through the Nevada valleys, even with nothing but drop tanks I can see it is going to be immense fun. Interesting to see that only 2 different kinds of A2G weapon can be carried, presumably limitations of the weapon-control computer? Reminds me of the Su-25 (in real life, no such limitation in the DCS Su25) Cheers!
  17. Really looking to loft bombing, haven’t done that since flying ‘Tornado’ on the Amiga 500 about 20 years ago
  18. Thanks a lot, I'll start there. Cheers,
  19. Hi all, I searched the forum to see if this has already been asked (well, for a few minutes). I often use L-Win +Home to autostart the Mig-21, but then I still have to press a fair few buttons to get the jet ready (turning on all weapons pylons, the gun, countermeasures, TYP81 etc). Ok, I know that isn't exactly hard to do, but I would like to try editing the script (presumably a lua file somewhere) to add these functions to it. Has anyone done something similar, is it possible, and which lua is it? Cheers P
  20. I would like this, although I doubt it will happen. Would be great accompaniment to the excellent Brazilian AF skins that 'GDA Goes' made. P
  21. Hah, I just spent ages watching your track and was wondering what was going on, I was waiting for you to get the jet out of the dirt at the end, but never happened! Can you reproduce this problem? If so, maybe a screen shot of the cockpit switch positions would be as good? Having said that, it seems you have the obvious answers covered (gunsight mode, jettison switch) so I'm stumped. Any possibility you had a damaged jet? Cheers P p.s. the tracks often don't reflect what actually happened in your flight. Known issue.

    Depression sight

I too have wondered this, been meaning to ask about it for a while. See the document referenced in this thread for example: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=184348&highlight=depression plenty of pages with >200 mil recommended e.g. page 44. Cheers Mumby
  23. One problem I had before with unresponsive crew chief was when I set up a mission (in DCS 2.0, Groom lake, "start from ramp") and instead of accepting the default parking spot assigned to me, I changed it to another one before starting the mission. Whenever I do that, I get no response from the crew chief. If I accept the default parking spot, it's all fine. Cheers, Mumby
  24. Hi, Does it sound like radio static? If so it might be the TACAN. When you go outside the range of the TACAN beacon (80 -90 nm, something like that?) the TACAN-code beeping sound gets replaced by intermittent static. Next time it happens try turning down the TACAN volume and see if the hiss volume is reduced. If it is, you found the problem. Otherwise, dial in a closer station or fly towards the selected station and see if the hissing turn into the beeping.
