  1. Thanks Bozon . . somewhat frustrating news for me unfortunately. It's going to be hard to justify including the DCS P47 in multiplayer scenarios that focus on the normandy campaign it seems. What a shame . . . building anything other than a furball/ free for all seems all-but-impossible with the DCS plane/ maps and assets set.
  2. Hi poeple who know about the P47. Can someone point me to a compairson of the D-25 versus the D-30? I've been told that the D-30 wasn't operational until "late" 1944. It seems that the D-25 was operational by May 1944. Does the D-30 represent a significant jump in performance over the D-25 (i.e. does the D-30 suit a Normandy scenario)?
  3. Just seen some new screenies of the WiP channel map. Thought I'd dump a link to this very large visible feature here, in case it gets over-looked:
  4. DCS SERVER: Missions have started migrating to V29 this week. V29 missions include more variation in AI, particularly their response to human activity and their un-predictability via the use of randomisation.
  5. The first WW2 wim to properly implement night interceptors (with all the accurate kit -both ground based and in cockpit - and interception aids from, say, 1944) will have access to my bank account.
  6. 1. Does the 'text' option for MoTD messages work now, or is only the 'chat' option usable? 2. Can so,one provide an example with correct syntax to use as a MoTd message, to replace the "nil" that is there by default?
  7. Fixed IP address now implemented. This means that SRS Auto-connect will now be triggered. SRS address is sowdcs.ddns.det V28 of all missions now added. - added more flak around German airfields in the south - confirmed Fuel supplies for various bases/ aircraft - minor updates to mission text - changed some aircraft skins SL-Mod now running on the server in order to allow stats collation Official change-log here: http://stormofwar.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=7049
  8. I often wonder, if the playerbase/ user community can mod certain things into DCS, is it not then possible for ED to construct those things also and add them to the core of the game? In particular, 1. A seafire (granted that the modded solution does not ahve a hook) https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4180625 apaprently the functionality was achieved int his mod with just a .lua update to the existing spitfire. 2. Making the wooden WW2 observation/ watch-towers "manable" in Combined Arms or similar. Suntsag did this with a mod around a year ago. I'd love to be able to place these wooden watch-towers on airfields so that players can "sit" in them and use them to observer airfield traffic AND to then conduct ATC roles for busy airfields.
  9. All missions on the server have been updated to V27. Changes: 1. Some more mission briefing errors corrected 2. Added more allied aircraft in France to enable a couple of virtual squads to field all their pilots (by request) 3. Added some new low-level AI patrols over friendly airfields to add to the atmosphere 4. FW190 A8 should be available at rear bases for Germans now too Official change-log here: http://stormofwar.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=7049
  10. This is true.. but we don't yet have the map for it (aligning with 1945 or late 1944). For me right now, Normandy with the removal of the MW50 for the two later German aircraft (190 A8 is fine as it is) is a close as we can get to a sensible performance/ geography mix that looks like June to August 1944....
  11. Ironjockel, I don't doubt that people use this argument, however, I find this argument from players of other sims/another sim to be somewhat disingenuous. I've played on a good few servers in other WW2 sims over many years and I've noticed that, with some regularity, almost every flyable aircraft has to be added to every match simply because the player-base (in whatever sim) always seems to demand more. We end up in the situation where 1941 to mid-1945 aircraft from Germany are pitted against Russian, British and American airframes also ranging from 1941 all the way to 1945. It is quite rare that a server has the guts to put up a specific plane set from a specific date, and when they do, those missions often result in a player exodus to other servers. I've seen this play our for many years, across a range of sims. The idea that people only (or even primarily) want to play on realistic geographies with realistic cohorts of aircraft is simply not true for the most part, IMO. I think the argument is an excuse for something else. Personally, I could fly (and in fact I have flown) just one single variant of the Spitfire for years. I'd happily play a game that was ONLY a spitfire simulator if it was modelled well . . .
  12. Indeed.. I'd love to see the Mission Editor trains working in Multiplayer on Normandy.
  13. Whilst the Spitfire 9 did use the 150 Octane Fuel later in its career, folks should be aware that the 2nd Tactical Air Force was not supplied with this fuel until November 1944. http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/150grade/150_Grade_20-11-44.jpg http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/150grade/trinder.html This is well after the breakout from Normandy/ Falaise. Players who are doing the "historically based" thing in DCS would consider to only allow English-based Allied fighters to use the 150 Octane fuel. Fighters located at bases on the French side of the Normandy DCS map should not really be using 150 Octane fuel.
  14. All missions on the server have been updated to V25. Changes: 1. Improved and increased the amount of information given to German side from the Freya system regarding where Allied bomber raids are 2. Corrected spelling etc. errors in briefings 3. Lowered altitude of some allied bomber raids to bring them below contrail height (might bring some FPS improvements) 4. Changed engagement rules for AI low level Jabo and fighter bomber attacks (they should react to hostile fire now more readily) 5. reconfigured some flak batteries 6. Re-routed some AI pathing 7. Minor weather improvements based on historical information 6. Updated some AI unit names to match historical units There are now 4 missions on rotation, from June 10 to June 12 1944. A 5th mission is in progress and should be added in the next week or so.
  15. +1 for this! Absolutely necessary IMO.
  16. Purpose is given by the players and mission makers. I can think of loads of interesting things to do on this map area.
  17. No. The channel islands are included in the existing Normandy map, and not really anywhere near this "channel" map.
  18. Thanks Fenrir, yup, this is basically what we see happening on SoW too. OK, so I was dreaming. BigNewy seems to have reported this already via that other thread. So, fingers crossed.
  19. Set of SoW server mission briefing files are here, which people can download and then have to hand, or translate. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1WCQOq5Rungi-eEJo-a58idxalE4qJVsN OP also upated.
  20. OK thanks Rob.. I will keep an eye on it. MODS, ignore this one for now.
  21. As per the title. running a mission with full render on a server, the flak fires running a mission with --norender operating prevents the big WW2 guns from firing at all. Small caliber stuff still fires.
  22. Bizarrely, I delete two ground units, and now the F10 maps work again . . .
  23. For some reason, since about 2 days ago, clients are unable to access the F10 map on the storm of war server. Loading the mission in single player on the server is not a problem. Loading the mission in single player on another machine is not a problem. Hosting the mission on another machine is not a problem. Hosting the mission on the server-machine IS a problem, hitting F10 does nothing. Here are the mission settings: And here are the server settings: Anyone got any ideas?
  24. The server is still in testing so it is on and off at the moment. I'm looking into the F10 map thing today
  25. The F10 map is not hidden for players. In any case, the targets are well described in the briefing, you can use a modern map to find them.
