  1. Lastest OB, works great in SP, but when trying to sign on a MP server it stops at "mission load complete". If I wait a minute or two and hit ctrl + alt + delete, it shows DCS using a large amount of resources and "not responding." I did a repair, but still no go. Am I missing something? Thx
  2. I've read a couple IRL pilot descriptions, and the F-5 requires constant trim adjustments. Very hands-on, especially since there's no autopilot.
  3. After setting the curves like in the image, I haven't got stuck during a taxi. Yes, it takes a little practice, more than pressing NWS (which is my preferred method), but these settings make it workable without frustration.
  4. Please give instructions on where to install the folder "Iowa Class Late War - Korea" and its contents? Thx
  5. Because, to quote James Bond.... THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH! Seriously though, some aircraft have legitimate issues that need fixes (F-5 automatic wing removal, for instance) but are ignored for years.
  6. This happened to me several times, and caused me to look into YouTube pilot training videos (they fly Cessnas, but all flying problems are the same). You have to recognize you're in a spin quickly to give you and the plane time to respond. Cut the throttle (counterintuitive, I used to think one could just "power out of a spin"...no!) Apply neutral stick and opposite rudder, reducing pressure as the spin slows (again, counterintuitive, if your left wing is down, wouldn't you try to make it level? No! Use opposite rudder as a sort of a cup or aluminum parachute to slow or stop the spin). Gently pull out of the dive while slowly increasing the throttle. https://youtu.be/4LX2amQ7lzo?si=SGPHb-uFWvJ4e0Gy Yes, you're in a dogfight, but "slow is fast, fast is smooth". You have two options: fly as described to get out of the spin, or crash.
  7. Maybe everyone has got the "dash 1" manual already, but here it is.... (dated 1960)
  8. Remember, Israel did not exist as a state until 1948, that area was called Palestine (aka "British Mandate for Palestine")...might help with search results. Very interesting history in that region.
  9. I wonder if it'd be possible to have an "instruction" within a mission's internal lua's etc that would create a circle-shaped "effect area", centered on the jamming unit (maybe with concentric rings, each representing a reduction of missile effectiveness). Max radius would equal something like 1/2 of a missile's max range (I don't know which missile would be a good choice for this), and have a -10% effect on hit probability. (And/or a -10% reduction of weapons damage). Longer distance to jammer = more likely the missile will hit the target (assuming target is also at/near outer ring) Next circle would be 25% missiles max range (measured from the jammer aircraft), with an increase of effects to -50% (making it harder to hit the target). Last, most inner circle, would be at 10% of missile range (again, measured from the jammer aircraft), and would have a -90% effect on the missile (making it very unlikely that a hit would be achieved). Of course, the target could still use chaff to distract the missile. The concentric circles would have to move with the jammer aircraft. I'd use this only for dedicated aircraft (EF-111, EA-6B etc) but a much reduced version could be had for jammer pods on strike aircraft. Edit: OMG I don't think I've ever resurrected something this dead before....
  10. In the "Instant Action" missions, select F-5 and Free Flight. You spawn in just behind and to the right of Lead, who flies a pretty docile route to a landing on the coast. Typical airspeed is 375 KIAS, and is a great single-player training mission, if you apply yourself. It's easier if your Lead is sentient and can give real-tips, and for that I suggest Yappydog's training server. https://youtu.be/mJue31CUdII
  11. I'd much rather find myself in a squirrelly plane, than in a wingless ball of fire heading straight into the ground.
  12. Installed Enterprise to (name)/saved games/DCS Open Beta/mods/aircraft but didn't see it in Mission Editor. Any fix for this?
  13. I had a bit of difficulty steering the A-4, not because of the differential braking but because of the sudden hard turn to whatever side you're turning towards. It happens quickly, and once the hard turn starts you're on for the ride! There's gotta be some kind of adjustment to the braking system which allows sane turning....luckily Yappy's Training discord had someone who helped me out, and this method still works. I set this up a couple days ago. If you need help, just let me know and I'll see what I can do. DCS A-4 Steering Set-Up 1. Open Settings menu Tune Left brake and Right brake: Select “Slider”, “Invert”, and “User Curves.” Insert values from the left-->right 0, 0, 0, 0, 5, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 (I use a "5" for the fifth slider because it rounds off the sharp corner, it is optional) Save and exit Settings Menu 2. Arm spoilers 3. Full Flaps 4. Bring up Controls Indicator (Rt Contl + Enter) 5. Note the little yellow circle at 12 o'clock, that indicates to which direction the Nose Wheel is pointed. All set, let's roll... 6. Stomp on the brake pedals, this resets them to zero (sometimes they're full on). 7. Throttle up to a walking speed. 8. Slowly push on one brake when needed, watching the little yellow circle...when it starts to move, start watching the nose of the plane. Slowly increase toe pressure, but release when the plane is turning at an appropriate rate. 9. Slowly apply opposite brake to cancel, but again keep an eye on the yellow circle...when it starts returning to center, watch the nose of the plane and stop the toe pressure when the plane is pointing where it's supposed to be.
  14. I've tried to snap the wings in several other modules, never did it. Get in the F-5, and it's remarkable how quick they snap. Must be made out of graham crackers or something...
  15. According to the discord, this mod is dead...."everyone has moved on to other projects."
  16. I'm not sure what happened or why, but this morning I did another install and this time it offered the location option. It took awhile, but now I have DCS OB again! Yay! Thanks
  17. Third page? The installer window doesn't show any method of choosing where to install DCS.
  18. My Open Beta was corrupted somehow, and tried to repair DCS but never fixed it. I decided to uninstall it and the release version, but now when I try to download and install it, it only goes to "C". C drive doesn't have enough space on it, that's why it was originally on "E", but now that DCS is deleted, I can't get it back on "E". Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.
  19. For me, the "flying" is the best part of DCS. I like FF, but I also like FC3, because the ability to roll, turn, dive and otherwise "aviate" can be done with all of them.
  20. When I was having difficulties with the F-5 bombing tutorials, I got a custom mission (made by someone else, I forget who at the moment) which put me near the target roll-in point. This way, I could bypass all the talk etc of the takeoff and the navigation to the roll-in.
  21. I just got the SA map today, and wanted to try out the western edges of the map....I think it looks real good! With all the little inlets and such, it seems to me it resembles something like Norway's fjords. I could see many WW2 scenarios with Mosquitos or Lancasters (when it comes out), as well as "knock out the radar/missile facilities. Or navy bases! Lots of nooks and crannies to keep out of radar tracking, old-school navigation would be a b!tch, but who doesn't like b!tches? LOL!
  22. I am able to download the F-5 checklist, but had to go the link mentioned on the page you posted. Thx
