  1. Checked several aircraft (F-5, MiG-29, I-16....searched for "active pause" and manually checked the expanded lists. Ok fixed, a single press of "Pause" will pause your plane's movement, if you want to drop something be sure to release the object and then immediately hit pause. (Edit: Not sure if this is a proper solution, as I expected the dropped object to continue falling upon separation from the plane. This did happen in "Instant Action/free flight (F-5)" but did not occur like this in other missions...I'd drop bombs, pause, and F2 my view to outside. I'd see the bombs several feet from the plane, but neither bombs nor plane were moving. If I hit pause again everything would start moving.) Cannot find pause in controls, either.
  2. Found this during a Google "f-5 climb profile".
  3. Oh ok, never thought about airflow. Yeah that would starve the engines of power! Thanks!
  4. "Get to a mach number"...like 1.0+? Less than 1.0 isn't enough? Btw, what are the key words I could use for search engines (here and google)?
  5. Made it to 50,300'! I zoom climbed to about 35,000, then maintained ~400 until 47k, then found I could go up 1000' for a 50 kias trade, but could barely speed up again. By the time I made it to 50k, I was doing about 200kias....but I made it! Hit burners, dove straight down, and maxed out about mach 1.45. Pulled out at 12000-->10000, had slowed to 800.
  6. According to Wikipedia, the ceiling for the F-5 is about 51,000'.....I can generally climb to about 30-35k', but then the speed is so low (~250-300KIAS) that it has almost no oomph to climb over 15^....I generally lose patience at or just below 40,000'. Is there a trick or technique to achieve 50K+? FWIW, even the F-15 handles like a cast iron bathtub at the 50k'+.....Thx!
  7. Not really an aiming aid, it just helps locate the reticle for the pilot.
  8. I don't know about the F-5, but on the F-111 it helps the pilot find out where the reticle went to...the 111 reticle had a pretty large range of motion and it was possible to lose sight of it when keeping your Mk 1 eyeball on the target aircraft.
  9. I just take cool screenshots (I watch a LOT of YouTube videos) and use those for my desktop! My fav is the I-19 gunning an A-10 during a dog fight!
  10. No worky. There are 33 pylon combinations listed, seemingly every combination of bombs, fuel tanks, etc. There isn't any listing of "just" pylons.
  11. I've already bought the A-10C (original), but if I wanted to upgrade it, I'd have to buy the entire A-10C II module for $80. I don't remember how much the original cost, but an upgrade shouldn't be as high as the original module. Between $10-$30 would be ok. IMHO, of course I'm not going to be upgrading my A-10C anytime soon based on this.
  12. Where is the link to get the BS3 upgrade by itself? Or where is the price listed?
  13. Manual position on the switch on the hud only allows the manual depression of the pipper, doesn't arm any weapons. Only thing I can think of is the F-5 has a two-stage trigger (first position opens the vent doors, second fires the guns). Does your trigger do both functions?
  14. That is one of two images to keep track of the target. The cross in the middle tracks the target up/down and left/right, while the horizontal bar (range gate) slides up and down to show range. In the pic you referenced, the radar is set to 10 miles; the target range gate is shown just between the 4 mile and 2 mile range lines, and is about 3 1/2 miles away.
  15. Oh, and you even said that in your first post! What are you looking at when you say "target range gate inside the radar scope"?
  16. It begins at max range, where the range gate first appears at 6 O'clock. As the range gets closer, the range gate gets longer, from 6 o'clock to straight up 12. That's what confused me for a bit....the range gate gets longer while the range gets shorter. Just pay attention to the edge of the gate, not the length of it. null
  17. There is a 3-way switch with a red safety cover directly above the center pylon selector, lower position is "camera", middle position is safe, upper position arms guns and missiles. When the switch is in the middle, the missile tone is not heard. Flip it up, and make sure volume is up (I think that is default). Hope this helps.
  18. That's all well and good, but I really like "steam gauges"!
  19. Doing a skin is time consuming....in the adult world time = money. Flash some $$ with your request and you'll probably see better results.
  20. Maybe you've read an interview, confirming or denying the use of split throttles and control surfaces to be a "poor man's" thrust vectoring? It's pretty amazing if true. Thoughts?
  21. No. Unfortunately it's more of a "wash, wax, and new paint" upgrade. Maybe not even new paint.
  22. Ok, doing much better! The first few attempts (starting at 7000'MSL, sliding to the left and then gently nosing down until aligned and 20^) were on the border targets or just inside...but the last 3 were boom boom boom on the (now burning) target! Thanks Jascha!
  23. So I was rolling and diving entering the approach, and found I ended up between 5700' and 5000' depending on how stable I was. That is a bit of altitude loss, so that explains the inability to reach 20^. I tried rolling to wings vertical, and pulling until the target was almost directly below, rolled level and simultaneously pointed the nose down to 20^. That helped, but still short. Then I tried an 8000 entry, made it to 25^ and again short. Next few tries were 7500' entry, but after a couple more wings vertical, level/nose down I decided to just turn into the target (30^ turn) and then just push over into a 20^ dive. That helped a lot, but still no go. But it was an improvement, and I wasn't frustrated after 8 attempts. I'm sure it'll get better.
