  1. Like the Garmin trainers. They're awesome when you are learning to use the GNS430.
  2. This summer!? :music_whistling:
  3. I have now have DCS running through my 32" HDTV and it runs even better through that at 1920x1080 than it does at 1440x900 on the MacBook Pro!
  4. Which always a barrel of laughs when dealing with those Money-grabbing twits! :music_whistling:
  5. Are you downwind? That can have an effect also. Most likely you have forgotten to adjust the condition levers (as has been suggested) which are the yellow levers to the left of the pilot's body. But it is also worth considering the ambient temperature, the height of the airfield/FARP and the gross weight of the helicopter as these will have an impact on performance. Hot temperatures and high altitudes significantly affect helicopter performance and it would be in these conditions that you would need to pay particular attention to the gross weight. You'll find the manual will cover these aspects in far more detail.
  6. Runs like a dream on my MacBook Pro at 1440x900 (albeit there are jaggies but that's down to the vid card). Minimum 20 fps with scenes/textures at high and only using a single core, can't get DCSMax to work properly and Win 7 won't seem to let me manually set DCS.exe's affinity. Bootcamp Win 7 DCS BS CD 2.2 Intel dual core 4gb RAM 320gb WD Scorpio HDD 128mb Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT
  7. I hope they model a lawnmower. Otherwise the FARPs are gonna get ruined with long grass! :D
  8. When do you reckon she'll be "ready to fly"? I would love to have the patience to build something like that but you must have spent a fortune by now... Does look awesome though!
  9. It's for when the GPS goes down and you have to rely on your chart, stopwatch and accurate headings. Then it really helps!
  10. If you go into the ABRIS options you can change it to give you imperial units so that it will display knots/feet on your HUD. Needless to say analogue instruments stay the same... It's in one of the setup tabs.
  11. Screnshots were captured in-game at a resolution of 1152x864 with 2x AA and 8x AF. Then scaled down to 800px width and photoshopped to increase sharpness and adjusted levels and colours. In full size there are jaggies on mine too as LO refuses to run on anything higher than 2x AA on my pc.
  12. It will disable altitude hold below 4 metres (c. 13ft) and it is designed to do that. It's hardly a life threatening situation to fly the Shark without an autopilot. While it is of course much much harder, it is perfectly doable. The Shkval display will "restart" when your power drops too low. The engines aren't turning fast enough to power the generators.
  13. Well make sure the governors are turned off and then spool one engine to full auto and start the second engine. While the second engine spools pull in full collective and before you know it you'll be in trouble... Also there's the vibration something system up on the righthand rear panel. Turning that off will allow you to ruin it. That'll get you started at least....
  14. You should be able to create a "one-time-use" credit card with paypal. Have a look at paypal's website. (paypal.com)
  15. Pilots are stupid... So most FMS keypads are laid out like that. More intuitive than you think when it's in front of you.
  16. Does the sim model any ill effects of ignoring such?
  17. You're probably right! :)
  18. I think what it boils down to and this is of course just a theory... Anyone with a reasonable amount of real flight experience finds that the AP fights them. I cannot get comfortable with the APs and find myself in a similar situation to OP. Other squad members are just fine with the APs. This could be a number of any issues, but the most likely culprit is real experience. Having never flown a Ka-50 nor an autopilot assisted helicopter, but having 150+ hours of fixed wing time with some heli time thrown in for good measure that is the root problem for me... Just a theory...
  19. Yes. I think by default it will set itself to the left outer pylon first. If there are no unguided munitions on that pylon it will take whatever is on the inboard left pylon. So if you are carrying Rockets AND gunpods you will need to change the switch as you change the weapons in use. You can still use the weapons without setting the switch and then you are better off using the Standby HUD mode as the pipper will be as useful as a chocolate teapot.
  20. Well... Why would you be using a loop as a combat manoeuvre? Yes perhaps in a dogfight but realistically in an attack helicopter a full on loop would be a nice way to get shot and dead.
  21. Don't forget that whether or not a helicopter can loop is all down to the type of rotor system it has. Try it in an R22 with a teetering rotor system and you'll be brown bread before you can say ouch. The Bo-105 used a rigid rotor, and the factory pilots used to loop them all the time, until one of them killed themselves doing it...
  22. The PVI will also give you this information. If you click the button green button under the Keypad 0 this will give you wind direction and speed on the PVI display.
  23. Well I cannot get BS to run on any ATI drivers newer than 8.10. I just get the display error lark from the launcher as per Viper's screenshot. Installed 9.1 and the install failed and has fudged everything to do with CCC! Thanks AMD for making my gaming experiences so fricken wonderful.
