I'm sure if you ring ol' Ahmadinejad he'll let you have some info.

Well not really. How are you going to trim it for a descent or a climb if you are relying on the autopilot? Just use them both together. As soon as you switch the autopilot off you'll know what sort of a "state" the aircraft is in, because you can let go of the stick etc etc. You really only need to trim to take the load of the stick, so that you can be hands off if you need to be. Sure if you start putting the autopilot on when you are in extreme manoeuvres this will potentially cause you problems.

I thought it was a request for a new module...

But surely that just takes things too far. It's something you could do in the real aircraft and war isn't supposed to be fair. If you want fairness go play Cricket, you cannot get fairer than that. :)

I'll take a real one though!

The Cub's available, although I've not tried it. Can't say I get excited by a 70mph cruise speed...

The A2A + AccuSim P-47 is a must have. The systems modelling is just phenomenal. You really have to manage it properly. Have a look at the review we did of it at http://www.lockonfiles.com It'll set you back $65... For the P-47 and AccuSim, but it's worth it. It has the same level of frustration that you can find with BlackShark if you don't treat it properly and respect it.

I always work on the basis that you lose about 2 degrees C for every 1,000ft when in Western aircraft and 6 degrees C for every 1,000m in Russian. Naturally the actual lapse rate isn't 2 and 6 but this makes it easier to calculate for the rule of thumb, and sure as hell is close enough for the purposes of this sim. Also I was taught to switch the Pitot Heat on whenever you are in rain and always at 10 degrees C or below. You can work out the freezing level easily enough at the start of the mission with those two rules of thumb :)

I modded my Lock On pilots with a mugshot of me. I see my cheezey grin when I'm watching externals! Egomaniac? Me? Never.

I normally work on the principle that it burns around 700-750kg/hr According to the manual it burns 137 gallons/hr (per engine) at take off power. Which would equate to roughly 807kg/hr total if you run at take off power. Based on 1USG weighing 6.5lbs. Edit: Airspeed tends not to play that much of a part as it will all depend on what sort of an environment you're in and whether you are running it at proper cruise power etc etc. Personally I find it much better just to work on the principle of x/hr.

I also noticed this in the select aircraft screen of multiplayer.

BS is running in fullscreen. Both Desktop and BS are running at 1440x900. System specs: 4gb RAM Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT 128mb 2x 2.2 Intels Windows 7RC1

Everything, especially manuals should be written in plain English! It doesn't matter how stupid or intelligent you are, you are more likely to understand a complicated topic - such as this poxy Kamov's Russian logic :music_whistling:- if it's in easy to understand words! I couldn't agree more. ED if you want to employ my writing services for future manuals... :)

Much rather have an engine for that and just zip along the cloud tops. Just gotta watch out for the silver lining it's usually another idiot doing what you are...

Certainly from the symptoms you describe it sounds like you are trying to lift off and are too heavy. The fact that you can get it to work more often than not by reducing the fuel capacity. But still be interesting to see the track. By clear weather do you also mean zero wind? A tailwind can play havoc with your lifting capabilities at heavy weights.

Yep, you gotta think of like a fat girl. A great ride, but you gotta have a bit of patience...

... and he who hesitates is lost. :)

While I agree with you Panz, ultimately it will be a business decision. Perhaps there will be some CEO out there who thinks it is the way forward, but whether or not that can actually be built into a profitable and viable business model is another. How many market research surveys would you have to compile to get the figures that you'd need to then present this model to an investment or capital firm. While certainly in 50 years time, it will probably be a more viable concept. Right now, I think there would be too much opposition. While we perhaps represent a minuscule fraction of that potential market, outside of these MMOPRGS can you see any other games working on that basis? Is there any other game you would consider paying a monthly subscription for? I guess the answer will lie in seeing what develops. But if gaming becomes a case of monthly fees to feed my "habit" then I'll just put the equivalent money into my flying pot. Certainly for me, it would be the end of me playing computer games (which probably isn't such a bad thing...).

Not just simulator pilots... I normally do a curved approach when I'm flying too :)
-
Simply known as a curved approach. Something favoured by pilots of Warbirds with big long noses (not the pilots that is!).

How fast are you doing this? For the autohover to work properly you need to be in a hover already, ideally. Best thing to try, is to stabilise and hold for a few moments and then engage auto-hover. If that doesn't work can you post up a track as that might make it easier to see what you are or are not doing.
