I would say in FC4 I would love to see at least some clickable stuff in the cockpit, I dont think all the various systems and things have to modeled to the exacting details of the Hornet or Thunderbolt II to have a clickable cockpit. I personally dont really enjoy FC3 jets because of the lack of clickiness haha. I think there can certainly be a middle ground between FC3 and the F/A-18C in terms of systems functionality. I am not a programmer or anything but it seems like there are systems that are very simply modeled in the FC3 jets that could be linked to a couple switches in the cockpit without all the super intense systems modeling that is behind all the switches in say the A-10C. I think this could also help balance the FC3 jets with the full fidelity jets in the multiplayer arena as well... Just my 2 cents

Download Link- https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3300426/ A Fun mission created by SEDLO for DCS World and the AV-8B Harrier! I did some of the voice work and it was a lot of fun. Watch out for MANPADS! Here is SEDLO's description of the mission... This is a fictional, “what if”, scenario where Georgia had hurriedly joined NATO prior to the full scale Russian invasions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. NATO air power has begun staging at airbases around Georgia proper, and have commenced defensive air operations. Currently, NATO air forces are cleared to operate within the territorial boundaries of Georgia, and are cleared to conduct strikes to support NATO ground forces within Georgian Airspace. Last night, a Georgian armoury was attacked by Russian backed separatist guerillas, and a number of heavy weapons, including APCs, ZSU-23 Shilkas were stolen. Intelligence suspects that the stolen armour is heading east in order to escape into South Ossetia. This hostile group is believed to be made up of South Ossetian Guerillas, Russian SPETZNAZ forces and defecting Georgian Army personnel. Badger 1, a joint Canadian / Georgian convoy has been dispatched to locate the purloined equipment before these criminals can escape.

I think its a pretty cool effect I wouldn't want to see it changed too much, I'm sure it would look a little different on your screen at home than on a youtube video etc. Also I wouldn't trust photos of HUDs as the camera in question (especially if its a video cam) is probably not capturing the same effect your eyeballs would give you seeing it in person.

Tips and Tricks for Using TrackIR in DCS: World 2.5!
Spudknocker posted a topic in General Tutorials
A few viewers and fellow DCS Pilots have asked about my TrackIR settings and how I get such smooth tracking for my Videos. I figured I should just make a video with some tips for using TrackIR in DCS World and explain the rationale behind my settings! If you like the video please like and Subscribe! -
Boy I feel a Solomon Islands map would be a heck of a lot more fun and visually appealing with lots of variation than an Iwo Jima Map with one tiny island chain... my 2 cents for the day I guess.

Purchasing the Persian Gulf Map for MP, who's buying it?
Spudknocker replied to F900EX's topic in DCS: Persian Gulf
[quote The latest Wags stream showed some unique aspects of the map which at least made me much more interested in it then I initially was. 1. The map doesn't seem to be soo small as we thought. 2. The islands with airbases will be an interesting diversity. 3. There are some big unique ground targets like rafineries - which will create a lot of oportunities for interesting missions. Hope to see some more of relistic ground attack missions in MP than just "capture the airbase". 4. Hils at the straits coast will make for some cover but nowever close as good as the Caucasus mountains. Other than that the map seems to be generally flat which will make the technological advantage of modern airframes more aparent. 5. Based on above I hope there will be a chance to see more servers with period aligned airframes. Without possibility to use the terrain to hide, older units like MiG-21 and F-5 will have small chances to survie on the same map with F-15 and Su-27's. 6. With less terain masking possibilities helicopters life will also most probably get harder. 7. The map is more natural for carrier operations than Caucasus. I would see it a "to go" map for planes like F/A-18, F-14, AV-8. If its period correct F-5's and Mig-21's will definitely be on the Iranian side and MiG-29's would be on the red side not Su-27's. I think the best period for this map would be to limit the weapons in western jets to just Sparrows and disable JHMCS and 9X's on the Hornets and have a 80's Operation Praying Mantis type engagement and that would bring both sides to relative parity with a lot of sparrow (and phoenix) shooters on each side. -
Purchasing the Persian Gulf Map for MP, who's buying it?
Spudknocker replied to F900EX's topic in DCS: Persian Gulf
I have said this before but I think it is a true statement (at least I hope it will be), but I think that the Hornet, Tomcat and Phantom coming out coupled with the Persian Gulf Map will help boost DCS multiplayer by a lot. The reasoning i see for this is that you have two sides, Iran and lets say NATO that have full fidelity jets on this map, the IRIAF gets F-5's, F-4E's, F-14A's, MiG-21BIS's (stand in for F-7), Mirage F1 and a smattering of FC3 Su-25's and MiG-29's The NATO/Arab side has F-14A/B's, F/A-18C's, M2000C's, AV-8B's, A-10C's and others with a few FC3 F-15C's and A-10A's thrown in. I think the Persian Gulf map is a good way of getting around the hurdles involved with making Full Fidelity Russian aircraft. I also think that having some sort of built in VoIP in DCS would would be a huge boon to multiplayer DCS, its very cumbersome and awkward having to download a seperate program for voice communication and not every server uses the same program, that is cumbersome and I'm sure chases a lot of people away from DCS Multiplayer. Also DCS world will be hugely boosted by having a flyable F/A-18, F-14 and F-4 these are hugely iconic aircraft that at least in the US will draw far more players (IMHO) than a A-10, M2000C or AV-8B if just because they are so well known. I think the only aircraft that could top the F/A-18 and F-4 would be an F-16 in sheer draw and recognizably. I will certainly buy this map and I am definitely hoping that the map will help to boost multiplayer! -
Wow that is pretty amazing! Can't wait for the F-14 in DCS!

While the targeting pod on modern aircraft are usually used to employ smart munitions like Laser Guided Bombs (LGBs) or guided missiles like the AGM-65 Maverick, it can also be used to employ and accurately deliver "Dumb" munitions like unguided rockets and Mk 80 series of weapons. The Hughes Angle Rate Bombing System (ARBS) that is installed in the nose of the AV-8B NA Harrier II in DCS World is a fantastic piece of equipment and in its time was a major leap forward in the accuracy of dropping unguided weapons on the A-4M Skyhawk and AV-8B Harrier II. However, in 2018 the ARBS is showing its age with a limited zoom function and a very narrow FOV. The Lightening targeting pod or TPOD is able to perform all of the duties of the ARBS while being able to zoom in and get a clearer picture of the target as well as being able to slew the TGP while flying perpendicular to, away from or straight at a potential target, from longer ranges.

This view may not be shared by all DCS World players, but I sometimes find that the FC3 jets are more difficult to use in combat because you have to remember so many keybinds for your hotas and keyboard, with the Full Fidelity jets all you have to remember is the Hotas commands and then your mouse does the rest... I find learning the cockpit to be easier to remember than the FC3 keybinds even if the models themselves are simplified

I was actually a little worried about people (and myself) potentially getting ill effects looking at the stuttering of the HUD, I'm glad its a WIP and some parts will be faster on release. I am always an advocate for options for people to play the way they would like thats for sure! I can't wait to see the real thing! Thanks heatblur!

A short tutorial and overview of the air to air weapons utilized by the Mirage 2000C in DCS World. Note that using air to air weapons in the Mirage is very different and similar to American aircraft at the same time. Some principles can apply and be carrier over from the F-15C Eagle or sidewinder usage on the AV-8B Harrier II and A-10C Thunderbolt II, while others cannot. This requires a lot of practice when moving to the mirage from other aircraft!

A short tutorial going over the start-up procedures, Take-Off, flight characteristics, weapons employment, some navigation and Landing in the Mirage. Part 2 will cover basic air to air roles of the Mirage 2000C! This aircraft is not ideal for ground attack missions, but will work in a pinch, such as the scenario we are thrust into during this mission! (Do Not expect the same results as a thoroughbred ground pounder like an A-10C or AV-8B).

Hey ED! I thought I should report this bug, its happened to me three times in a row now. Flying an attack mission in the Mirage 2000 near the town of Zugdidi on the Caucasus map, whenever I tell my wingman to attack a target there is a flash of the DCS world logo, and then a CTD with an error message that DCS World has stopped working. I was flying out od Senaki-Kolki and this bug hasnt seemed to be an issue thus far when flying from Kutaisi.

Oh WOW! I didn't see this mentioned before! That is super cool! No more hexagon shaped hi-bypass engines on the S-3!

You also have to keep in mind when watching these videos on youtube or vimeo etc that video cameras dont usually show true color when taking video of a screen of any kind. even still cameras have a hard time photographing screens and having the picture come out
-
I believe the F/A-18C's lot 20 or otherwise had 2 cathode ray tube displays (the two green ones up top) and one MPCD behind the stick down low in the cockpit. You cannot change the colors of the CRT screens but maybe on the bottom MPCD. The F/A-18C+ has the color displays because they have been upgraded to a super hornet cockpit layout essentially.

RED FLAG AV-8B NA Harrier II Mission With a Surprise! A really fun new mission by Sedlo to make a realistic Red Flag training mission for the RAZBAM AV-8B Harrier II in DCS World. It is a challenging mission that incorporates all parts of operating the Harrier from take off to A2A refueling to weapons employment, landing and even some air to air engagements. The mission is built for Maximum replay-ability and wont be exactly the same anytime you play it.

One thing to think about is the missile tracks the actual radar emitter on the vehicle (like a tunguska etc) and not the vehicle itself. I have seen my sidearms track the radar emitter and this fly a little but high (maybe a meter or two) over the radar antenna on the Tunguska and thus explode behind the vehicle. I know in Vietnam there was the issue of Shrikes being almost too accurate as the missile would knock the radar off the top of the radar truck and explode behind the vehicle, knocking out the radar but not destroying the truck
-
I'm hyped to shoot them down in the F-4! hahaha!

Sorry for yet another wishlist post RAZBAM but I was curious if you guys have ever considered doing a Kfir or Cheetah for DCS World as both have flown/fly in the Ecuadorian airforce where you guys are based... I would imagine the correct documents would be harder to come by for the Cheetah than the Kfir. I've always been intrigued by these jets and think they could be pretty cool in DCS!
-
I think they may need to get a special permission to include it as I think the USN owns the copyright for the Blue Angles logo and what not... I don't think they would be able to include it because they would be making money off the blue angels logo/paint scheme

Wow the SA page and systems are amazing! I knew modern aircraft could use data links and what not to piece together a picture of the battle space and lock -120's on bandits without turning on their own radar but it is really cool to see the interface of how it all comes together!
