  1. LoCFG has a gui for these settings. In the real world you can't set a percentage of quality to a bitmap, only colour depth etc. However I am not sure what a percentage change does in LOMAC/FC. You can't change the quality higher than 100% in jpeg. If it still looks poor on 100% it's down to the algorithem ED put in. If you export as BMP it should be as you see it on the screen and then you can tweak the compression yourself. Regards Paul
  2. Wooo it should run! That said what resolution was he playing it at and although he mentions "High settings", where do they fall in the scale of settings? Regards Paul
  3. It does something funky with the tree's on my system. On quite a few tree's I get a horizontal line in the air above some trees. Still I barely notice it so I just power on through. Regards Paul
  4. AHA! Most excellent, thanks very much! +1 Regards Paul
  5. :D It was another slant on a question I had already asked but had been skimmed over I think. I was more interested in what would happen if ED went out of business (ie no website) and/or if after a decent amount of time ED would decide that no one in the right mind would be trying to crack one of it's older games/sims anymore and release a patch to remove the SF protection. No matter what EDs plans are now things change and I was just wondering if there were any contigency or long term plans? Don't read this as anything against SF or any other copy protection, obviosly as a user I want it as easy as possible, but as someone who is also in the creative market I understand people like to "borrow" things you have done and there is nothing more infuriating, and that is not even contemplating any financial ramifications of such a thing. Regards Paul
  6. WOW! Do you have the HDR bloom on for that? It doesn't appear to have, but that looks amazing! I can't wait to fly at something other than 1200 (long story, well it's not but it could be embarasing). Regards Paul
  7. Hmmm odd, all that combat practise must have ruined there taste buds if they are drinking Budweiser! :D Regards Paul
  8. Thanks chaps, I already had the moon mod which was what was causing me to pull my hair out as I couldn't figure out how anyone ever saw it unless they were in the air for hours and hours! Still never mind I will give it a go, I hope it's nothing as silly as forgetting to press the OK button...I will look like a plonker if that is the case. I do enjoy playing with the games without actually playing the games, I don't think I have actually blown anything up yet...well apart from myself due a few cocks ups on the landings and take offs :D Regards Paul
  9. What on earth are you smoking? No need for anything over 4x, and I think 16x will make a difference to the FPS, but it does depend on your graphics card. Regards Paul
  10. Is there a limitation to the time settings you can put in? Regards Paul
  11. I second all of that, apart from the fact I have upgraded my FS series as the years passed. I am really looking forward to online co-op, although I am going to require a rather long time to get used to the sim in the first place before I dare brave the online world. Regards Paul
  12. That would probably explain it then...I don't suppose the buttons work on the other aircraft do they? I kind of want a generic profile for my x52 than having to swap and change settings. Regards Paul
  13. Hmmm odd, it turned the dial all the way around and it did nothing, I did drop the sensitivity in the config screen as it was too sensitive in the Mig, hmm I will check it. Regards Paul
  14. Morning, I am working my way through IronHands tutorials (thanks again for these!) and practicing various manouvers. It's a slow going process seeing as I can't spend that much time in the sim, maybe 4 or 5 hours a week and most of that time is me tweaking things so my actual flight time must be about 2 to 3 hours. I have been practicing everything in the Mig 29 but I thought I would go for spin in the SU25T only to find out that the trim dials I have setup on my X52 pro don't work. They work fine in the Mig and they are mapped as axis in the FC input settings. Any ideas? Regards Paul
  15. I seem to be being a few raisens short of a musli at the moment. No matter what I try in the mission settings I can't get any other time (or appearance of time of day) than 1200 (mid day). I can't seem to set the sim clock to before 0600 but even at that time the sun is directly above me, indicating a time of around 1200 but I swear even the mission clock things it's the morning. Any ideas on where I might be going wrong? Regards Paul
  16. I am running at GT, I can't remember where the GTS comes in the scale of things but the only things I touch in the NV 3D settings are 4x AA and 4x AF set to override on both if I remember correctly. Regards Paul
  17. You can be in the Arctic and it can be day and dark at the same time...so I suppose technically it's an accurate statement. Regards Paul
  18. Wags any information on what happens at the end of life of BS or FC with the copy protection or if ED go boobies vertical? While ever they are around or they are supporting there releases old or current I don't personally have an issue with SF as it's never given me any problems, but I was wondering what happens if in 10 years I want to install it? Regards Paul
  19. LOL, they should put that on the front of some TV programs as well, might stop them getting panned by the Sun, Mirror and Star readers as unfunny just because it wasn't base enough for them to understand. Regards Paul
  20. Just as a matter of interest, would ED ever consider a point in time where they release a patch that means that a product, for instance BS or FC although still require a key will no longer require the star force protection? I am just thinking that in say 5 years time will I actually own a copy of FC opposed to a rather elaborate rent? I mean if, god forbid, ED goes the way of the dodo I don't want to not be able to use something I have purchased. I mean I still play some of my REALLY old games on virtual machines. Regards Paul
  21. MaxFPS = 30; Put that in your graphics.cfg, I put it right at the bottom but I don't think it makes a difference where it is, as long as it's not inside something else. It is a rule of thumb that higher frame rates = better game play, but you could also argue that more stable frame rates, or frame rates that don't change that much give a much smoother appearance and "better" experience. 30 FPS on a game like FC is plenty high enough, your usually aiming 60+ for an fps, but this is a much slower and less precise kind of game so 30 is fine. Usually putting in an FPS limit in a game stops the game running away with the FPS (ie rendering frames, thus using up processing power) that you don't want it to. Basically limiting your FPS means less work for your GPU/CPU and thus it's more able to do something if something happens for instance an explosion, and it's more able to process 30 frames per second without it dropping any of those frames and giving a jerky look. When playing FC in the open, ie high up over land somewhere, your capabale of getting FPS well into the hundreds, but over a city near the sea your going to be getting sub 30 fps, probably sub 15 if your running everything on max and your PC isn't brand new. So limiting the FPS stops the drastic changes in FPS from say 300 to 15, to be 30 to 15. As you can see that is a much smaller difference in FPS and thus makes the lowes less noticable. Regards Paul
  22. Why can't they have released this a few months ago when the pound wasn't in the gutter and the doller was on it's own...that way it would have been less than £30 :D Regards Paul
  23. Oh and a post simply saying "I HAVE A NEW PC WOOP WOOP" would have sufficed :D Regards Paul
  24. Max everything and if you have problems drop the usual suspects one setting at a time until you hit the sweet spot. I would recomend a 30 fps limit put into the cfg file as anything higher isn't giving you any real advantage. I can't see why you can't be running it at all at full pelt apart from maybe waters or shadows. Regards Paul
  25. FC can handle multiple inputs, BS is based on FC so I would say yes. However I believe Saitek drivers do something funky and make themselves one controller anyway. Regards Paul
