  1. You may be overcooling your engine if the oil is open all the time.
  2. At the current pace that DCS WW2 is being developed I think no one here will be live to see it. XD
  3. Looks like the tally is: A6M Zero + Carrier - 9 P38 - 9 Tempest - 6 P61 - 2 me262(already being developed) - 2 Ki84 - 1 F4F - 1 F6F -1 F8F - 1 P40 - 1 Seafire - 1 Typhoon - 1 Spitfire 1a/2a - 1 Yak - 1 Lagg - 1
  4. haha yeah that's what I'm worried about. Your probably right though.
  5. Not the same logic at all. The FW190A8 and FW190D9 are very different. They have completely different engines for one. The fuselage is also significantly different. But as I said, the 109G6 is almost the same as the 109K4. The K4 is basically all the improvements of the different G6's put in the one plane with in built MW50 system and further improvements on top. If you want to experience what a G6 is like just fly the K4 without MW50. Why would you buy an entire new module just for a less streamlined K4 without MW50?
  6. I don't know what time zone your in but you should be able to fly on burning skies when its populated. Its most popular on the weekend during European afternoon/evening time. But usually Americans start joining when the Europeans start leaving and it stays alive for a while. I seriously recommend trying multiplayer, it's a lot of fun. Make sure you are running DCS Open Beta, it's the version everyone plays and make sure DCS is updated. Also as No.119_Bruv (VK-B) pointed out, Burning Skies uses the Caucauses map. I highly recommend flying PvP, it's great fun. Even better flying with other people.
  7. You miss my point completely. The spitfire 9 and P 51D are the only variants of those aircraft in DCS. I am talking about a slow heavy variant of a much faster aircraft that already exists. Why would you buy a 109 G6 when you can buy a 109K4? Its almost the same plane just way worse in many respects. You can say you want a historical match up but historically the 109 G6 was bad vs its contemporary enemies. The P51D and spit 9 completely outclass it. I could understand wanting the 109 F4(excellent turn rate) or maybe the 109 E4(equal or better then its adversaries at the time) or 109 G14 but not the 109 G6. I would like to see an AI 109 G6 maybe but not many people will buy two modules that are almost the same plane. "the Spitfire and P-51 pilots could say the same thing about the current lineup" no they can not. The Spitfire 9 is very good vs the 109K4 and FW190D9, the P51D is an even fight vs the FW190D9, better then the 190A8 and can at least dive away from the 109K4. The G6 is much slower then the P51D even in a dive and the Spitfire 9 is faster, turns better and climbs better.
  8. Bristol beaufighter with australian markings. <3
  9. A6M Zero + Japanese aircraft carrier to operate from. :D
  10. Does not work vs AI, AI don't obay the laws of physics. They can do things that are impossible. You should be able to extend away from the AI in a D9 but thats about it. If the AI is in a plane that turns tighter then you you generally cant beat them. I personally think that flying vs players is the only way to go, with the exception of AI bombers. Try flying on the Burning skies server if your interested in PvP. Warbirds of prey server is a mix of AI and players, you try there to.
  11. thats what I have experienced, not as crazy as your video but yeah, 109 feels almost invincible but has no problem cutting allied planes in half.
  12. Its got nothing to do with balance, if the K4 is not performing how a K4 should be then it should be fixed/changed. The P38 would be nice but its not very good vs 1944 german aircraft. The mosquito will be a very nice ground attack aircraft. Though the P38 would fit into the pacific theatre nicely, but we have no Japanese aircraft. : ( Regarding the G6, why would you buy a G6 module when you can get the K4? Why would you want to fly the G6 vs the Spit 9 and P51D? You wont have a chance. I wouldn't mind a G14 with wing cannons though.
  13. There is definitely something going on with the damage, at least vs 109s. I thought it was a bug with the .50 cals but even the spitfires cannons do very little. I shot 109s way more then usual and instead of them going down easy to the spits guns it felt as if I was not shooting them at all. It got to the point where I wasnt sure if it was even possible to shoot them down? I really wish I had a recording of it. I have to get shadowplay working again just in case its happens again. On the same day I watched a 109 shoot a spitfires wing off so Im not sure if it is just the 109 that is buggy but it doesnt seem to effect all aircraft.
  14. I also have this problem, please let us know if any of you find out what the problem is. thanks
  15. Calm down mate, people come onto the forums to discuss things including problems they perceive in the game. You have no place telling others what they can and can't discuss. Also you don't make yourself look good by insulting people. I also don't understand how you somehow assume that people who bring up problems with the P51D don't also fly other aircraft including the 109. Regarding enemy planes taking alot of damage, my game may not have updated the most recent patch last time I flew. Maybe I had an older version of the game which made it buggy? Though Im not sure if you can join a server with a different version of the game? Something weird was definitely going on last time I flew on Burning skies.
  16. Nice work! Appreciate you sharing, thanks.
  17. Look at the bright side, the FW190A8 can run 100% throttle for entire flight, the 109K4 can fly 100% with MW50 for about 25minutes and the FW190D9 MW50 engine failure bug "might" have been fixed.
  18. I find myself fighting multiple german planes a lot in the spit, mainly because its slower. I survive the majority by far and if I don't it's because I made a mistake. Can't fight more then one german in the P51D, and can't even fight the K4 1v1 in the P51D. The spit is also the best plane in fur-balls, you can dive into the middle and chase people knowing that if someone bounces you you can easily evade them. But if a spit bounces you in the middle of a turn fight with someone else your very likely screwed(when flying the FW190 or 109K4).
  19. If you are constantly climbing then you are not going to be above 61" for very long. And you won't be at 67" for long at all because as you climb your manifold pressure drops until the supercharger kicks in at about 16000ft then you will be at 67" briefly before it drops again as you continue climbing. As far as I can tell from reading the manual, there is no reason for the engine to seize from using WEP. It will cause extra wear on the engine but as long as you are keeping temps within parameters and using WEP for no more then 5 minutes at a time, you should have no problems with the engine. Especially when the P51D was cleared to 75" with 150 octane fuel with the same engine.
  20. Does it say in the P51D manual that you cant use WEP below 5000ft? I know it says that WEP gives little benefit below 5000ft in the DCS P51D manual. I dont remember it saying that WEP below 5000ft causes any more stress on the engine then at any other altidude. There are flight tests that show significant speed improvement at sea level with WEP. The P51D manual(not DCS manual) says nothing about engine failure. It says that WEP should be avoided because it reduces the lifespan of the engine. It also says that after 5 hours of war emergency time the engine should be pulled for tear-down inspection and reconditioning. Regarding time WEP can be used, all it says is that 95°C oil temp must not be exceded for 5 minutes. It also says that coolant outlet temp should not excede 121°C. You cant run the DCS P51D WEP for any period of time without engine failure nevermind the 5 hours it says in the manual.
  21. yeah, Im wondering if something on the server is causing the issue. I had no problem the weekend after the patch came out. Could shoot planes down as per normal. But the last few days the 109 in particular does not seem to take much damage from hits. Takes a silly amount of hits to bring them down. I'm not even sure if a single P51 can shoot a 109 down at the moment. I think the P51D does not carry enough ammo. I watched 5+ aorcraft chase and shoot a single 109 and struggle to shoot it down. I switched to the spitfire because its cannons normally wreck planes reletivelty quickly but I found myself almost running out of ammo before enemy planes would go down. I bounced a 109 and put a good 3 second burst in his ass at close range before he reacted. I saw no noticable damage and then he started dogfighing me lol. It got to the point where I was luring them into our AA because my guns were not doing enough damage and I kept running out of ammo. I wish I had shadowplay working, would have had some amusing videos. I have not had a chance to test it yet but I suspect its an issue with the Burning skies mission. Maybe something to do with the fix for the multiple kills bug.
  22. I don't think anyone will complain if aircraft performed as they expect. At the moment you can't fly the P51D or FW190 according to the flight manual because your engine will fail. Unless they fixed the FWD9 in the last patch? I don't know but I know the P51D is still broken for sure. I used WEP to get away from two 109s this week. After about 3 minites of WEP (when I was thinking of throttling back) my engine died. I nromally wouldnt WEP but I thought maybe it was fixed in the last patch and not inculded in the patch notes.
  23. hello, The P51D seems to have had problems with its engine for many years now. Problems like: 1. Ware emergency power garanteeing engine failure at a random point in time regardless of how long it is used for. 2. The automatic operation of the oil and water radiators do not reliably keep the engine cool. In many situations the engine will overheat and seize if radiators are not manually opened. 3. There is no warning or indication when the engine is failing, it just instantly stops working including the propeller going from 3000RPMs to 0RPMs without any torque effects. 4. The drop tanks are always empty? From what I have been told maybe someone can confirm this. There are other issues/like to haves but my main consern is that I have a module that is not working. I can't use WEP without engine failure, I have to manually control radiators in an automated aircraft and just generally tired of seemingly random engine failures without any indication or warning. Please share if you have experienced some or all of these problems. Thanks
  24. I understand that aircraft have advantages and disadvantages. I am saying that describing an aircraft as an energy fighter is misleading. Some people say a plane is a boom and zoomer, a turn and burner or an energy fighter. Its not that simple and is misleading. I see alot of bad spitfire pilots turning too hard, loosing all thier speed and being shot down. Because you cant simply turn and burn your way out of trouble. You have to manage your energy in the spitfire the same as any other aircraft if you want to be successful.
