I dont know, .50 cal is able to knock out APCs and light armored vehicles, surely 6 of them can take down a plane effectively.

Hi Eekz, the are a few bugs with you stats recording. One: Sometimes no kills will be recorded for an entire flight. Two: Sometimes multiple kills will be rewarded for just one dogfight. e.g Just look at my stats, it shows that I killed MeoW.Scharfi eight times in one second when I obviously only shot him down once. Peace

[BUG] Cat Right Engine not catching on startup
Snapage replied to Dangermouseb51's topic in Bugs and Problems
I experienced this bug for the first time today. This is after patch 2.5.5.31917. :\ -
yes the spitfire should out climb the A8 easily. Below 5000 feet where the A8 is faster it may be better in a very shallow climb.

Engine go down at high Altitude....
Snapage replied to Hunter Joker's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
Yeah, its most likely the fuel pump is not switched on. You can also open the radiators, makes it alot harder to overheat engine in a dogfight. -
The spi 9 is a great aircraft, and definitely holds its own vs the 109k4 and 190 D9. Too many people have no idea how to fly it and burn all thier energy immediatly in a fight by turning to hard. I think part of the problem is the silly concept of some planes being boom & zoom energy fighter and some being turn and burners. Its wrong and misleading. All fighters are energy fighters and the spit 9 is one of the best!
-
Its a FW 190 A8, what is there to complain about? Its slow compared to the p51 and spit 9. You can probably hit and run vs the spit 9 as long as you dive below 5000 feet to run away. But the P51D will catch you and eat you in any situation. P51D is the fastest aircraft in a dive of all the WW2 aircraft, until we get the P47. BTW if you think the FW A8 is bad? Just try flying the P47 when it come out lol. Its not going to do very well below 25000feet. But ill get it cause its a cool plane.
-
Hahaha, now you know how P51D pilots feel vs the 109K4.
-
Why are people surprised that th FW 190A8 is bad in air to air vs the P51D and Spit 9? There is a reason why the germans went to the effort of building the FW190 D9....... Just look at the top speeds of the aircraft. P51D is waaayyy faster and the spit 9 is almost as fast on the deck and faster at higher altitudes. It should have been obvious.

I have no issues with headtracking except for one, that is my view dropping low in the cockpit but it doesnt happen much and doesnt really bother me. I personally this headtracking in DCS is way better then other flight SIM. I find it almost impossible to check my six in IL2 or warthunder because the dumb headtracking. In DCS when you turn your head left or right to look behind you it automatically moves your view to the side, so you can see down the side of your aircraft behind u. In IL2 when you turn your head you get a view of the seat behind you....and it seems almost impossible to move your head so you can see around your chair or headrest in the plane.

I know I would feel some warbird love if the FW190 D9 MW50 and the P51D WEP+drop tanks were fixed. ♡♡♡ Gunpods would be cool to, though is that the 109k6? Actually what I think would be really cool is a 109G6+109G14 module with the wing cannons.

Don't try to do a sustained turn fight with a spit, ever, you will lose. The 109 is alot faster then the spit in level flight and shallow climb. Fighting in the 109 takes practice but once you know what you are doing you are untouchable in it. An example senario, spit on your six. Really bad, if he has energy he can stay there for while before you pull away out of gun range. So what do you do? Well what is the spit worse at then the 109? Spit has slower dive speed and slower roll rate. So split s, spiral dive, build your speed up. You should be slowly pulling away at this point but its slow, how you gona pull away faster? Level out, and then go into a very shallow climb. The 109 is way faster in level flight, slight climb is to get the spit to nose up a little (chasing you), he will slow down much faster that way. You will pull away fast. How to kill a spit? You have to get altitude advantage and dive on him, getting him to turn to dodge so he cant climb up after you. You can follow a spitfire in a turn while you have more energy then him but you cant do it for long. To follow a spit in a turn you have to throttle back in your dive and use elevator trim to pull up behind him. But you lose your energy adantage so you only have one shot at him before you are defensive.

Yeah, Im not so sure, this has been a problem for years. I also remember when ED broke the FW190 D9, it was working fine until a patch in 2016. Ever since that patch the FW190D9 engine breaks if you use MW50. I suppose they could be working on a fix but its been its many years now. So I won't get my hopes up.

Obligatory A-8 Dog Fight Speculation Thread
Snapage replied to Strong05's topic in DCS: Fw 190 A-8 Anton
Why would you not buy the spitfire or P51? The spitfire is a great fighter and has a very good chance vs the D9 and K4. The P 51 sucks at dog fighting the K4 but it is the best WW2 ground attacker at the moment and can at least dive away from the K4. The P47 should have dive flaps, a radial engine, fastest dive speed and fast at very high alt. It will also be a very good ground attacker, fastest fighter at 30000ft+ and the heaviest WW2 fighter in DCS. These are all unique characteristics that make it interesting. I don't want to get an A8 if an F8 is going to be released separately because the F8's ground attack capabilities were pretty awesome and I don't see much fun trying to dogfight in it. The P51D is faster at all altitudes so you cant even hit and run. The Spit 9 is only about 10mph slower then it on the deck, turns way better and climbs way better and is generally faster above 5000ft. The F8 should be a little faster on the deck, more armored and carry some nice ground attack load outs. One 250kg bomb with four 50kg bombs, or maybe a single 1000kg bomb, I think it could carry one 500kg with two 250kg bombs to? Don't get me wrong, its a really cool plane and I'm glad it is being added to DCS. I would definitely buy it if I did not know the F8 was coming. But choosing between an A8 or F8 the F8 is way more interesting to me and more useful in multiplayer which is what I fly. -
Think of it as surfing smoothly through the sky, keeping your speed up. try to predict where the enemy will be in the future, you wont get away with pulling hard on the stick in DCS, you will stall or rip your wings off. Also check that take off assist/ pilot assist(what ever its called) is set to 0.

Obligatory A-8 Dog Fight Speculation Thread
Snapage replied to Strong05's topic in DCS: Fw 190 A-8 Anton
I have not bought it because it is basically a slow D9 with a radial engine(it will be eaten alive by the P51 and Spit 9). Though I would buy an F - 8 but no idea if that is included or a separate module? -
Do we know if this includes the F-8 or will the F 8 be separate module? Or is the F -8 not confirmed yet?
-
The only reason I would get the A8 is for ground attack. But I don't know if it will come with ground attack setup/loadout. I'm not sure if I would want to try to dogfight in it vs the spit9. May be ok vs P 51D but I suspect a light(low fuel) P51D may be able to out turn it and I think the P 51D is faster.
-
Im wondering where its at to. I am excited for it.
-
A DCS B17 would be awsome, no reason it couldnt be done. Plenty of peiple would buy it and fly it. But DCS WW2 has issues like damage model, engine heating system, contemporary aircraft matchup and lack of WW2 assets in the assets pack that needs to be sorted before people will get excited for a bomber module. DCS WW2 is on its knees right now and needs to be competent at just walking before it can run with cool stuff like B17 bombers! (Just my opinion of course).
-
I got the I16. I love it, its a great little plane. My only issues is that you have to take the takeoff assist off in the settings because its on by default and there is a bug in multiplayer where everyone but you sees your landing gear as down even after you have raised it. I really enjoy flying it, its slow but turns and climbs really well. I like the open cockpit, the sound of the radial engine and how easy it is to startup. It's also really reliable as long as you keep radiators open and RPM's at or below 2200. Cool plane. I don't understand people who complain about more modules being added to DCS? The more the better!

DCS: Me 262 Discussion (Development on hold currently)
Snapage replied to NineLine's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
It will be very cool to have the 262. Will be interesting how it matches up vs the allied aircraft. I'm guessing it will be an aircraft that sweeps in to strike and then extends away to repeat. -
I'm probably a little late here but anyhow. It mostly deoends on what you are going to be doing. If you like to fly air to air combat online then I would say go for the 109 or the spit 9. Both engines are reliable and both the best fighter on its respective side. The 109 if you want to be untouchable in PVP combat. If you like to fly high and hit and run then both the P 51D and FW190 are good. FW190 is better because it can escape all its enemies atm(fast and good climb rate). The P 51D is a good match vs the dora but suffers badly vs the 109k4. Though the P 51D is the best ground attack prop plane at the moment. The P 51D is also the most pleasant to fly with great visibility.

Yeah, my guess is that once you go WEP the engine is on a random countdown timer until it dies. Which makes it unusable unless you dont mind your engine seizing at a random time during or after a dogfight.
