  1. Yeah that would be nice. Would also be nice if WEP worked, and the auto radiators worked, and if the .50 cal guns were effective. Would also be nice if we got a faster 75" 150 octane P51 instead of an average 67" P51D to battle the last and most powerful variant of the 109, the 109 K4 and last and fastest FW 190, the D9. Oh, would also be nice if the control surfaces didn't fall off as soon as you reach 506mph and the prop governor didnt almost always break when shot from directly behind. How big is the prop governor anyway? Feels like its the entire plane the way the damage model performs. But yeah, the pilot model doesn't really fit a WW2 airplane thats for sure.
  2. Yeah, I have messed with WEP a crap ton, I can't find a pattern to it. Doesn't seem to matter how long I use it for and how easy I am on the engine after using it(even for a short time) the engine will randomly fail. I personally find it lasts longer if you stay at full throttle with RPM at 2700-3000 for the rest of the flight. It seems to brake faster when I use it for less then 5mins and throttle back. But overall it feels very random. I have lasted until I ran out of fuel going full throttle in WEP once or twice. But it normally breaks between 15 minutes and 40 minutes or so.
  3. Its not a dead battery, the engine will randomly die after using WEP, even once on the ground and engine off. You can hear it die after engine is shutdown, its a loud bang. I have no problem shutting down and restarting the P51.
  4. Depends what kind of flying you are doing, if you stay fast you wont have a problem but if you fly slow with high engine setting you need to manually open oil radiator and maybe water if it gets to high. You will overheat otherwise. And in regards to WEP(67") the engine will fail at a random time after using it. Could be 10 minutes, 20mins 45mins into flight or u me be lucky and the engine may not fail for the duration of your flight. It can evwn break after you have landed and turned the engine off LoL. I have heard the bang sound the engine makes when it insattly siezes after I have landed and shut down the engine. Then tried to start it and the prop wont move at all. Its happened to other peoples planes to when we have landed and talking about stuff after the our flight.
  5. Hmm, well we shall see. I'm not going to buy another underpowered American deathtrap, I already have the 61" P 51D.
  6. Will the WW2 engine issues be fixed when the FW 190A8 or P 47D is released? I assume the new aircraft will have improved engine temp mechanics?
  7. WEP in the P 51 will cause the engine to randomly stop so if you use it be ready to bail out or crash land at any time. Does not matter how long you use it for as far as I can tell, after you go above 61"(even for a short time) your plane will die at some point unless your lucky.
  8. The 109K4 was not the only varient of the 109 the germans produced but it was the last and the best ever produced. And it was not the varient that the P 51D confronted often either. The majority of 109s the allies faced were G6's. If we are going to have to fly againts the best variant of the 109 we should have one of the best variants of P 51D from WW2 which is a 150 octane 72" or 75" rating P51D. No one wants to "ignore facts" and make the P51D better because the allies won WW2. This is about the DCS WW2 matchup.
  9. Your engine will also overheat in a sustained climb if you leave the radiators in auto. Temps can be all green when you start the climb and they will slowly increase over the red line for water and oil. Auto radiators won't open enough to cool the engine so you have to do it manually.
  10. You can run at any setting as long as you keep RPMs above throttle setting and keep an eye on water and oil temps. If ur temps get high you have to manually open the respective radiator because the auto radiators dont work.
  11. Interesting, Im surprised something like this was not modelled if it has something to do with in flight procedures. Considering the 109 has its left and right coolant cutoff cockpit controls functioning in DCS.
  12. I am hopeing we get a late war variant of the P 47D, one that was in use at the same time as the 109 K4 and 190D9.Would not be great to have early war allied planes vs late war german aircraft. I think the P 47D 30 would be OK? At least a P 47D with dive flaps for something unique. An engine cleared to 70" with water and 65" without water would be nice to. :D
  13. I think Kurfust is on the money here. I see the only viable way to make a G6 module would be to have it in a bundle with the G14. Both aircraft are practically the same. It would not take much to make a G6 from a G14. I don't think this in itself is enough, but add the extra loadouts that the K4 doesnt have like the option for cannons in the wings and I think you have a module that is arguably better then the 109K4. But will any developer try this when they can make a completely new aircraft instead?
  14. Yeah, I find the auto radiators don't work. I begin to manually open them when I'm about to be flying slow(climb, takeoff, etc) at full throttle and set to auto as I speed up(cruise, dive, etc). I do this for both water and oil.
  15. Will the P 47D-30 have dive flaps?
  16. I don't understand what the controversy is? Nazi Germany gets the best possible variant of the 109 which was not very common, why don't the allies get one of the best performing variants of the P51 that saw combat? It would make the P51D much more viable, it still wont out turn a K4 but will out run a K4 on the deck. Which gives the P51D a way to break away from a fight at low alt, which is where most of the fights occur. At the moment we have a 61" P51 only. You can use WEP and go to 67", and enjoy having your engine instantly seize at a random given time regardless of how long you used it for. AND then you have the damage model. I find it strange that most of the time I am shot when in the P51D the propeller governor is knocked out. Or so I have been told. All I know is the RPMs go nuts and you have to fly really slow to not destroy the engine. But I'm guessing this will be fixed with the new damage model that is being worked on. As it stands the P51 is just not much fun to fly in combat online, which for a sim called digital COMBAT simulator, is not great. Just a side note, my favorite plane ever in history has always been the 109. I think it's the coolest looking plane and sounding plane EVER!!! Especially with the sweet whistle of the supercharger. It was one of the first DCS modules I ever bought. The funny thing is I don't fly so much in DCS combat any more because it's kind of too easy. You know there is an issue when you have second thoughts of shooting someone down because you feel bad for them because you know they don't have a chance and they are there to have fun. This kind of match up is not good if you want more players and to keep them, which I do cause I love DCS(maybe not the damage model, not yet anyway). Which brings me to the sad part. I am finding it hard to stick with DCS considering these issues and like many others who I know, I am considering giving up on it. The only reason I have been sticking with it is because ED has given me the impression that they are serious about DCS WW2 and are working to improve it. But after the recent P51D update, which just gave us a reskin of the same plane I'm starting to be a bit apprehensive about my commitment to this sim. I will see what the damage model brings, and if with it, some improvements are made to the P51D in particular. But it's getting hard to stick with DCS WW2.
  17. The 109 K4 completely out classes the P 51D in DCS. It out climbs, out turns and accelerates way faster then the P 51D. I hardly fly the 109 on DCS combat anymore because it's way to easy. The only time a P 51 has a chance is when it is low on fuel and the 109 is high on fuel. And even then if the 109 pilot knows what he is doing there is very little hope for the P51D. I cant remember if I have ever been shot down by a P51D in 1v1 combat while flying the 109 K4.
  18. I have been waiting for the P47D for soooooooooooo long, can't wait to fly it!!!!!:)
  19. Harrier, where??? D: Where my Harrier at?
  20. There seems to be something wrong with the FW190 damage model, at least when it comes to taking damage from the spitfire. Any damage from the Spitfire disables the engine. The FW190's engine also seems to be less reliable in general.
