DCS: Me 262 Discussion (Development on hold currently)
Snapage replied to NineLine's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
The 262 will be great for flying co-op vs AI. Just wont have a place in multiplayer vs players flying much slower piston engine aircraft for obvious reasons. -
Performance of the DB605DB with 9-12159 propeller
Snapage replied to Fenderalac's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Where is this info, and how? I have done turn rate tests with the 109K4 and P51D at sea level with different fuel loads and the 109K4 wins easy. -
I will have to test it again but I found I could not climb at 400kmh without losing engine power. Maybe it's a different engine bug but when I kept an eye on temps when flying on Burning Skies I found temps going to high and I had to manually open the radiators to bring temps to normal.

I already know that the FW190D9 won't stand a chance. I have been flying P51D and Dora againts friends and the result is always the same. The Dora stands no chance This is since the last few updates. The Dora used to be able to gain an altitude advantage to compensate for the poor turning capability. But since the last few updates it really strugles to just get away from a mustang.

There is only one way to get good in multiplayer and thats by flying in multiplayer. You are probably going to have your ass kicked at first. But you will learn and improve if you are patient and commited. If you are not being shot down then you are not getting better. You have to take risks and try new manuevers/tricks if you want to become good and sometimes that new manuever you try does not work. But you are learning and getting better. In my opinion multiplayer is the only way to go. the community is very helpful and if you jump on discord/teamspeak(most multiplayer servers have a discord server) and fly with other players they will help you out. What makes multiplayer so much fun is not just the increased challenge of flying againts other people but also fly with team mates. The multiplayer servers that are most popular use Normandy and assets pack. I would also recommend getting SRS(Its free) so you can communicate with other players in servers that use it(storm of war is one). Anyway, multiplayer is the only way to go in DCS in my opinion. It's hands down the most fun by far.

Struggling with flying this module (Not about the trim)
Snapage replied to Cheetah7798's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
I see more spitfires turning to tight and bleeding to much speed rather then turning to little. Both obviously give an enemy an edge, but that goes with all aircraft. In a sustained turn fight you need to find your best sustained turn rate. -

The 109K4 can run full throttle with MW50 non stop until it runs out of MW50. Which is about 20 minutes at full throttle(provided your keeping your air speed above 300kmh). -

The spit 9 out turns the 109 in both left and right turns. Not so much if you are diving and turning but level turn or climbing turn the spit is hands down faster. The 109 can turn with the spit 9 in a dive if he reduces the throttle. -
I found that the engine has been overheating and the radiator is not opening automatically. Last time I flew it I manually controlled the radiator and avoided any obvious engine damage that way. I found the Dora to be really good in 1.5 but recently the P51Ds climb performance has been improved and I'm not so sure the Dora can hold it's own any more. It's hard to tell when the engine is so buggy.
-
This plane has never been great at dogfighting but it was at least viable back in 1.5 before the MW50 was broken. Its speed and climb rate made up for its terrible manueverability. But in the last few patches it has been made useless for dogfighting. The P51Ds performance has been improved leaving the FW190D9 with no option but to run away from a fight. And the FW190D9s auto radiators are broken which I presume is the cause for random engine failures and loss of performance. But even when manually controlling the radiator the plane does not have enough of an edge to be able to dogfight. I don't know if the plane is underforming overall or if it flies like the real thing but it is terrible. It's hard to tell when the engine powers down unpredictably without any indication. This is a bad thing for people who fly the Dora and fly againts the Dora because it makes for boring fights, if you can call them fights. Basically you end up either chasing a Dora and when you turn away he tries to attack you and then has to run away. It's literally hit and run. If the Dora tries to stay in the fight he is shot down easily. I don't know if there is a solution to this(maybe its engine is to buggy and broken) but it really sucks. The only viable fighter the Germans have is the 109K4 at the moment. If the Dora can't be competative then we have a pretty poor variety of german fighter planes. I have all the WW2 planes except the 190A8. I am not biased, I just want fun and exciting aerial combat in DCS.

I find that the FW190 overheats very easily, especially in a climb and I have to open the radiator manually to keep it cool.

P-51 vs Bf109K - TavView track - ask for debriefing
Snapage replied to tapi's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
I share your frustration regarding people labelling a plane a "boom and zoomer". The P51D is an air superiority fighter. It's job is to dogfight and it does it's job well. As Andremsmv said, any plane can dive on another aircraft and climb away with more energy. If you enter a fight believing your going to lose then your going to lose. -
DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion

I guess at the end of the day it would be nice to have a ball park figure for when it may be released. -

So the Mosquito was teased a lot in the trailer. Does this mean it's not to far away? 2020 release? :D -
The only thing I'm worried about is the control surfaces falling of at 505mph like they do on the mustang. I want to be able to experience aileron reversal and compression at 550mph like the real thing did. And be able to drop the dive recovery flaps. Maybe I can dive after some jets. :D
-
Yep, I'm pretty sure they fixed the aileron reversal in the N variant.
-
I think you start to lose control at about 548mph with aileron reversal.
-
Yeah, it would be good to know if we can actually use the dive flaps for what they were for which was to recover the aircraft when you lost control in a high speed dive. Don't need them if your plane falls apart at just 500 - 510mph. You should still have control at that speed.
-
A lot of people do have the Normandy map already. I think it would not damage numbers too much but there will definitely be a decline in players. Though we can always fly on the upcoming free Pacific map. :D

NOT LOOKING FOR SQUADRON. Looking for a couple of people to fly with
Snapage replied to crazydave1066's topic in Multiplayer
All a squadron is is a group of people who fly together. :) -
Yeah, that's what I want to know to: Will the P47D lose its control surfaces at high speed? What will be the point in having dive flaps if you can't get to the speeds that they were designed for? Like 548+ mph where the plane would experience aileron reversal and loss of control.
-
Nothing like spreading freedom and democracy with a little bit of napalm. XD
-
Well we have zeros still flying today so I think we could do it at least. I would like to have a carrier born fighter, diver bomber and torpedo bomber for USA and Japan. So we can have carrier fleet battles.
-
From an island on the upcoming free Mariana islands map. XD
-
The avenger is a beast of a plane. Would be great to have carrier battles vs the Japanese Navy. Who ever sinks the enemies carriers first wins!
