Nothing wrong with having the 67" P51D. At 67" with reduced fuel it is good. Just need 67" to be usable reliably.
-
I noticed the dots for spotting are barely visible and don't help spotting at all if you have a high resolution monitor. Are the dots there only for people with low res monitors and VR? Because they don't really need dots for spotting because the low res makes its easier. Its the high res people that need them but they are so small that they may as well not be there at all.

You can remove it for just 109s. It is a setting you can change on individual aircraft. You could have some 109s with MW50 and some without if you wanted.
-
Not all P51Ds were using 150 octane fuel or 72" MP.
-
Why is that not a good argument? Balance is important in a multiplayer environment. No one will fly multiplayer if there is no balance. I would prefer the plane we already have worked properly and then perhaps some more WW2 aircraft instead of another slight variation of an aircraft we already have.
-
Removing MW50 was mentioned regarding the 109K4 not the FW199. Without MW50 the 109 is way slower and would not stand much of a chance. Though MW50 does make a big difference for the FW190D9. People used to be way more aggressive with the FW190 until MW50 was broken. Hardly anyone flew the FW190D9 while MW50 was broken and the people that did relied on jumping people and running.

Engine failure due to main bearings failure?
Snapage replied to Hiromachi's topic in DCS: Fw 190 D-9 Dora
The P47D 30 has dive breaks so it's not a huge issue. The P51D on the other hand falls apart around 490 to 505mph.So not being able to idle in a dive will make the P51D so much more painfull to dive in. -
We already have accurate and historical aircraft. All these aircraft were common in 1944 to the end of the war. The 67" P51D was used in both Europe and the Pacific to the end of the war.

I prefer balance because I want other people to fly againts and there won't be anyone flying DCS WW2 if it's a turkey shoot.

Just a brief comparison of climb performance between 75" P51D and the 109 K4(with wing cannons). It looks like the P51D climbs a little better on the deck and then performs about the same in climb to the K4 at higher alts. If the 75" P51D climb performance is similar to the K4 probably a bit slower but close enough then it may tip the balance too far to the allies. The superior climb rate is the mane advantage both the D9 and K4 have to use. If they lose that then I think the balance could be way worse in favor of allies. This is just from a quick glance. I could be wrong of course. But if the German planes those their only significant edge then it could end up being a turkey shoot. As it stands at the moment I don't think 67" P51D is that bad, as long 67" can actually be used reliably.
-
So basically you get a 12 to 16mph speed increase and increased climb speed by 600ft per minute with 75"(compared to 67"). Below critical altitude of course. The P51D 75" would be about 17mph faster then the 109K4 below about 7000 feet or so. About the same speed from 12000 to 22000 and then a little slower above 23000ft. This is just a rough estimate. Though if WEP can be used reliably the P51D at 67" its slightly faster then the K4 below 10000ft but is slower at all other altitudes and becomes up to about 20mph slower between 17000ft and 23000ft. I'm just worried about the FW190D9 because at the moment its an even fight vs the P51D 67" from my experience. I would rather have a P51D 67" that can use WEP and a competitive FW190D9 reliably then a 75" P51D. .

clipped wings effect flight model?
Snapage replied to DracoLlasa's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
CW spitfire rolls faster but doesn't turn as well. I think the normal spit is better since its turning performance is what makes it such a deadly fighter. Even with the clipped wings the spitfires roll rate cant compete with the FW190. -
mmmmmm, both radiators seem to work for me on auto. Just have to open the water radiator before takeoff and then once you build enough speed(220mph or so) you put the water radiator back to auto. Your engine should be fine as long as its temps are below the red line.

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
Snapage replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
I'm pumped for the mosquito. Its such a cool and iconic plane and will be the first twin engine propeller plane in DCS. Its very fast for a twin engine aircraft and could carry a good amount of ordnance. It will be so much fun especially if it gets multi crew. -
I think the current match up is good. I am not sure about what would happen if the P51D got 70 or 75" MP. Don't want the mustang to be too good because I would like the FW190D9 to still be competitive. Taking away MW50 in the 109 would just reverse the situation and make the 109 no match for the allied aircraft. If the mustang can use WEP in a reliable way then the 67" is not too bad. I think it's very frustrating not knowing how to use WEP without the engine blowing. Changes are being made constantly so its a matter of trial and error to see how things work. The mustang just has a lot of really annoying things happen with it. The prop govoner seems to fail most of the time from gunfire damage. Cant land with gear up without the pilot dieing most of the time. There are other issues that I am hesitant to mention because I'm not sure if they have been fixed. Improvements seem to be being made all the time. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the problems I have mentioned previously have been fixed already. I appreciate the feedback and the ongoing improvements to all the modules.

I can shoot bad pilots down to. Almost all these fights are very close to allied airfield/AA. Why would you be staying within running distance of friendly AA I wonder? Maybe because if you come across a K4 pilot who knows what they are doing you have to hide in the friendly AA or get shot down(in P51D).
-
Don't need well aimed shots take out the mustang, just spray it and you will disable the prop governor. From any angle, it's easy. No skill required if your flying the 109K4 since it completely outclasses the P51D.
-
Why does the prop governor almost always fail when the P51D takes damage? This plane is garbage compared to the other aircraft. Is it that when the scoop takes damage it disables the engine? All the other planes can take way more damage. The P51s engine seems to get taken out when being shot from behind. How does the engine take damage from behind without the bullets killing the pilot first?
-
I don't mind if its a separate module. I just want to know what the plan is because I want the F8 but I'm not really interested in the A8. I would love to be able to carry a 500kg + two 250kg bombs or a single 1000kg bomb. :D Its also faster then the A8 on the deck with WEP.
-
I could not find anywhere that they have said that the F8 will be included with the A8.
-
Something I discovered recently. Apparently the P51Ds guns become less accurate the more you fire regardless of weather you fire short bursts or not. So are the guns overheating and becoming inaccurate even if you fire short bursts? This effect also seems to reduce the range of the guns which does not make sense to me. Are the guns simulating serious damage from overheating(barrels melting and warping) causing the rounds to have less range?

I know I have had an engine failure when I was fly back to base at 4 boost and 2700rpm. Engine just powered down. I checked fuel and temps it all seemed fine. I think what made the engine shut off was my use of full throttle in fights 20 minutes earlier. Lately I have been using just 12 boost which makes dogfight much harder and less fun but my engine has not shut it's self off which is nice.
-
Just a few questions regarding the FW 190 F8. Is it planned to be released in 2020? Will it be included with the FW190 A8 or will it be a seperate module? And will it have many ground attack configurations like 1x 1000kg bomb, 1x500kg + 2x 250kg bombs, extra wing mounted cannons, rockets etc? Thanks
-
Not only the WEP but what about him flying at 600mph indicated at 1000feet? In DCS the P51Ds control surfaces fall off at only 590mph-505mph indicated air speed.

Which WW2 plane and campaign to start with?
Snapage replied to unlikely_spider's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
For singleplayer I guess with the current AI the spitfire would be the best. I would recommend multiplayer, sure you will get shot down a lot but everyone starts somewhere. Once you learn the ropes multiplayer is by far the most fun in my opinion. Especially if you can find people to fly with.
