  1. Is the A6M5 really that bad vs the corsair? Isnt there things the Zero can do better, like sustained turns and maybe climb rate?
  2. Yeah F4F would make sense. I would really like to see a Zero and SBD or Avenger.
  3. You would need a Japanese aircraft that can match it for online combat.
  4. Where my P47 at?!?!?!
  5. The mosquito is fast for a twin engine aircraft and has good armament. It can't compete against single seat fighters in dogfights but probably has good potential for staying alive with a some teamwork. Its a ground attacker/night fighter. It should be really fun to fly.
  6. Yeah, the difference is not that great. I think the spitfire is just as good as the 109K4 and better then the FW190s. The mustang can fight the 190s no problem and with lower fuel can give the K4 a run for its money. The main problem imo is the fact the P51D WEP breaks the engine and the damage model(which is being improved). With WEP (67") and reduced fuel I would say the mustang is equal to the 109K4. Problem is you cant use WEP without it randomly killing your engine. 72" MP won't be much help if WEP is not fixed.
  7. Sweet, can't wait to fly through this map in the corsair!
  8. Interesting. So the main differences between the A8 and F8 is the use of C3 or MW50, an extra armor plate below the cockpit, some had a different canopy, some had a larger tail and the modification to carry anitpersonel bomblets below the wings. So it was the G that could carry 250kg bombs under the wings or a single 750kg bomb?
  9. What makes the AO server so great is anyone of any level of knowledge and experience can jump on and have fun with friends. The people that fly on AO are very helpful and when new pilots voice their difficulties in chat they get helpful responses. The AO server was THE reason I got into DCS as much as I did. I made many friends and became part of many awesome communities as a result. People buzzing the parking and airfield is a big part of the atmosphere on the server and one of the things that makes the server feel alive as soon as you jump in. Many people enjoy hearing and seeing people fly overhead, I am one of them. The crashes are also a major source of amusement on the server. No one that belongs on the server is purposely trying to crash. When people are trying new maneuvers it does not always pan out and often results in an entertaining explosion. It can be frustrating if you end up as collateral damage but all you need to do is get a new plane. I almost never have a problem starting up and taking of from the airfield. It's not a big deal to me. The most dangerous place is on the carrier because of lag and failed carrier landings. Even then I have no problem landing and taking off from the carrier most of the time. Its only when I stay parked on the carrier that the inevitable eventually happens. You do get inconsiderate/inexperienced/oblivious players cutting in front of you when your on final for the carrier which can be really annoying. But that was more of a problem when the F18 and F14 were new modules and people had no idea how to queue for carrier landings. Most people have learned carrier etiquette by now and its much less of an issue. Buzzing the airfield/parking is such a major part of the AO server. It would be really sad to see it go. Sure you get the occasional crash but so what, its fun! If a little bit of inconvenience is the price for fun and freedom then its a bargain in my book.
  10. It seems there may be an exploit where kills don't count if you disconnect. Some people seem to disconnect and reconnect when ever they are shot down.
  11. Difficulty is not a factor. If you like the aircraft and want to fly it you will learn the plane and it will become second nature. The spitfire is the best for large dogfights. You can get in the thick of the action and clear your six anytime by simply pulling a fast turn rate. It also climbs like a beast which combined with its turn rate makes it arguably to most fun plane to dogfight in. It's weakness is that it's slow. So you have to be patient and energy trap the enemy. Flying in a group is great, you can clear enemy planes off your buddys six really easily in the spit. If you are going to get the Normandy map you have to get the WW2 assets pack as well because any server running Normandy will be running assets pack to. I really like the Normandy map, I am hoping more servers run it after this update and the WW2 assets pack update which is coming.
  12. The radial engine the P47D has eats a lot of fuel. The P51D was a flying fuel tank. It just did not have the range the P51D had.
  13. Q1 of 2020 starts in six days..... so six days until P47 is released?
  14. The A8 in DCS sounds like a whipper snipper to me. To high pitched, not enough grunt compared to the real A8.
  15. Takeoff assist can make it harder. Make sure takeoff assistance is set to zero in the settings for all your planes.
  16. Yeah, it's hard to replicate reliably because it seems random. But one thing that seems consistant is that the engine will fail at some point after you use WEP no matter what. I have tested twice recently. A few days ago it took about 10 minutes after using WEP for the engine to die. A month earlier I ran out of fuel before the engine stopped. Though I bet if I waited on the ground after the flight the engine would have died at some point. Even if it was shutdown.
  17. The spitfire, FW190 and 109 all don't take engine damage easily. On the other hand the P51D takes engine damage most of the time from very little punishment. This combined with WEP not being usable reliably is very frustrating. Flying the 109, FW190, spitfire or even the I16 is a lot of fun but the P51D is just a frustrating mess.
  18. I think what is happening is the fuselage takes damage as you slide across the ground and when it takes enough damage the pilot dies. It is not so bad in the spit and 109 because the flaps keep the fuselage off the ground. That is what I think anyway.
  19. zhukov032186 has not disagreed with anything. He has just come into the thread and complained about Americans. zhukov032186 made a few generalized anti American statements. Which is anti American. "Every time an American plays a video game" includes ALL Americans. I don't know how it's not an anti American generalization. You should be telling him, not me, that "Surely the US ? ‘America’ is too big a region for someone to hate all of it". Anyway, the WEP has never worked and I don't know why people like zhukov032186 think there is something wrong with people wanting it fixed. WEP is not the only problem. You cant do a gear up emergency landing in the P51D because the pilot dies when the air scoop takes enough damage. Its also the most fragile of the WW2 planes by far. Any damage instantly takes the engine out(prop governor) most of the time. Why do the other aircraft(spit,109,FWD9) take so much more punishment? They use liquid cooled V12 engines as well but they almost never lose their propeller governor or engine.
  20. I just tested it. I never get engine failures unless I use WEP. It makes no sense to me. It is random as far as I can tell. So you can have flights where it doesn't fail if you don't fly for long or your lucky. The engine can even fail on the ground after landing and shutting it down if you have used WEP. You hear a loud bang and then cant start the engine again., The flight performance from WEP is based on real tests and the DCS P51D does get a speed increase at low alt from WEP as it should.
  21. All I get from this is: 1. You don't like Americans 2. You don't like the P51D 3. You assume that all people who have a problem with the P51D model are American. 4.You have no clue what this thread is about. The P51D is the worst most unreliable module out of all the WW2 planes. Even the I16 is more fun to fly then the P51D. It does not make any sense that the P51D engine fails when ever you use WEP. It says in the manual that the engine needs to have a strip down inspection after 5 hours WEP time is accumulated. We cant even do 5 minutes. You can use WEP in the other aircraft without a problem. If we are going to have the best possible variants of the German planes why cant the WEP in the average P51D be unusable? I don't know why you think its overrated historically. It was vastly superior to the German aircraft when it saw action. It wasn't up against an air force of 109K4's. It was fighting the 109G6 and FW190A which it completely wipes the floor with. By the time the 109K4 was in the air the P51D was running at 75"MP, the German air force was non existent and everyone was moving to Jet technology.
  22. WEP gives a significant speed increase below 5000 feet based on flight tests.
  23. I just tested the P15D WEP. It is still broken. I took off flew 10 minutes full throttle then went to WEP for 4minutes 30 seconds then pulled back 61" 3000RPM. The engine froze after about 10-15minutes. Also for some reason the pilot dies when the scoop under the aircraft takes damage for some reason. So gear up landings lead to pilot death.
  24. There are quite a few good reasons to have planes from both sides. 1. You get to experience and master aircraft that have different characteristics. 2. You learn the weaknesses of the aircraft of the opposing side. 3. If there are too many players on one side you can just switch teams.
  25. So your not going to the dark side after all? XD
