  1. I have a similar spec to yours and I am runing the Asus 34" 3440 x 1440 with Gsync @ 100FPS, FPS is pretty decent in DCS If it dips the Gsync will help hide it
  2. Jeez intel put out a very shady press release about this (as the main stream media picked up on it) Listing AMD along with themselves ... what a bunch of A holes https://newsroom.intel.com/news/intel-responds-to-security-research-findings/ Intel and other technology companies have been made aware of new security research describing software analysis methods that, when used for malicious purposes, have the potential to improperly gather sensitive data from computing devices that are operating as designed. Intel believes these exploits do not have the potential to corrupt, modify or delete data. Recent reports that these exploits are caused by a “bug” or a “flaw” and are unique to Intel products are incorrect. Based on the analysis to date, many types of computing devices — with many different vendors’ processors and operating systems — are susceptible to these exploits. Intel is committed to product and customer security and is working closely with many other technology companies, including AMD, ARM Holdings and several operating system vendors, to develop an industry-wide approach to resolve this issue promptly and constructively. Intel has begun providing software and firmware updates to mitigate these exploits. Contrary to some reports, any performance impacts are workload-dependent, and, for the average computer user, should not be significant and will be mitigated over time. Intel is committed to the industry best practice of responsible disclosure of potential security issues, which is why Intel and other vendors had planned to disclose this issue next week when more software and firmware updates will be available. However, Intel is making this statement today because of the current inaccurate media reports. Check with your operating system vendor or system manufacturer and apply any available updates as soon as they are available. Following good security practices that protect against malware in general will also help protect against possible exploitation until updates can be applied. Intel believes its products are the most secure in the world and that, with the support of its partners, the current solutions to this issue provide the best possible security for its customers.
  3. Something seems to be up with MP server list in 1.5.8 1. Launch DCS go to MP screen (note down server/player count) 2. Wait 3 seconds hit refresh button (note down server/player count) 3. Wait 3 seconds hit refresh button (note down server/player count) Online server count and player count is changing a lot Surely there cannot be that many servers starting or stopping in a 3 second window and the player count is bouncing about a lot within that time period +/- 50 people
  4. maybe the line were intel say they are talking to AMD, ARM etc is them asking AMD, how not to design in security holes ?
  5. I have an 8700K based system and I am worried (until the patches come out next week - we really wont know how much of it hit we will take) But from the linux benchmarks (patch already out) it could be a bad hit If I were you I would wait and see (usually you have 14 days to decide if you want to return something un-used - in UK anyway)
  6. AMD share price is going up .... Intels is going down This issue is seriously going to hit the bigs boys hard who do virtual hosting From reddit (explain this like you would a 5 year old) Computer hides your treasure from the bad man. The bad man shakes the boxes to find your treasure. Computer has to spend more time hiding the treasure. Computer is slow now :(
  7. When dedicated (not playing just hosting) hosters do not have to pay for asset packs , thats a big yes
  8. Phew was close there, nearly spent money but resisted the urge
  9. Not sure I understand your question Does it effect most Intel CPU built in last 10 years = YES Does it effect AMD CPU = NO Intel CEO sells all shares he can => https://www.fool.com/investing/2017/12/19/intels-ceo-just-sold-a-lot-of-stock.aspx
  10. Does your server have a windows sound device enabled ? Since the latest patch for some reason you need to have one to make the server not freak out. It never used to have this limitation until recently
  11. For DCS no, for a slightly faster windows installation would be the reason to re-install windows on the new M.2 You could check to see if there is a util (from SSD manufacturer) to move you OS partition to your new drive
  12. I was on a MP server the other night and there was a MI-8 with a start position on a Tarawa ... soon as you spawned in the heli, you fell off the desk and went splash

A Generic 3D editor (unlike any other software in any way shape form or fashion) would be great Guys be careful about comparing DCS to other software ....... it can get you warning points 1.15 Discussions of other game companies products are forbidden. While we allow news and updates to be posted in our Chit Chat section, we do not allow the discussion, reviewing of, or comparison of other software here. 21. Or another idea for those with soooo much money they want to get rid of it and a massive desire to give it to Eagle Dynamics Buy a bunch of modules and open a thread asking people to post if they want a free module and which one they want Use a random number generator like this one -> linky To then randomly pick winners for you Pretty easy to set-up and do Looking forward to seeing your thread on these very forums very soon
  22. Newest version of DCS has changed how text colours are configured Anyone figured it out yet , Blue text makes my eyes bleed
  23. No If any of you guys have extra money you want to throw EDs way ? Buy copies of Neveda , Normandy or WW2 Assets and give them away free to some of the dedicated server hosters, then we can all enjoy more servers with the newer maps
