  7. Erm, but understanding how the current system works is that not necessary to design a new a "better" system ?
  8. Until the powers that be actually answer the question about starforce what we can work out 1. IF a module is activated and the user is offline for very long periods (from what people have posted) the module will continue to work fine without internet 2. IF a module key is revoked at starforce and the PC with this module has an internet connection starforce on the local PC can phone home to starforce and thus revoke it This means that yes starforce protection can phone home to check a key BUT it is NOT mandatory, unlike the proposed new DRM system
  9. Are you by any chance using google translate ?
  10. I suggested you lower the RAM timings, did it make any difference when you tried it ? If you want to try and see if is thermal related, leave the system overnight to "cool" down Get your trusty heat gun (or hair dryer) and blast hot air over over the mobo and PSU for a few mins Power it up and see if it start and loads windows first time
  11. I find it remarkable that several times through this thread people have asked for an offical ED staff member to confirm starforce phoning home ........ still no answer
  12. Ah get you now So more like DRM will not expire unless PC hardware has changed significantly, hardware is checked each time program is launched kinda deal ?
  13. Not sure what you are meaning You mean starforce checks the current PC hardware against what PC hardware the module is activated against, to ensure it is on the same PC ? Of course it does not need internet connection to do that
  14. Seen a few Asus Z68 boards with this issue a over 4 years ago
  15. Cold boot with Asus boards , seen it a few times in the past It seems to take a few goes getting the memory timing right, try lowering the RAM timings and see if it stops it happening

  20. Yeah that would have been a nice option to have had for sure But alas we shall never know, MonnieRock did request that this option be added to the poll but was refused

  24. Only if you have updates set to automatic, at least in 7 you have the option to change to different modes eg Install updates automatically download updates and let me choose whether to install them Check for updates but let me decide whther to download and install them Never check (you can do it manually still)
  25. Kinda confused here regarding the fraud bit If a vendor when selling goods follows the correct authentication/verification procedure as laid down by the credit/debit card companies to verify a purchase made by a card is legit have they not done their due diligence ? and after the "goods" eg key have been handed over is it not the credit card companies problem ? The vendor does he have to return the money ? and thereby loose money (of course he can revoke the key)
