  1. Can you look out and down with trackir, because if yes that would be great
  2. +1 it would be nice if an offical ED staff member would confirm this please
  3. I agree with you More like "Please .... am I allowed to play the software I have paid several hundred pounds for ... pretty please" ?
  4. If there was a choice between starforce and the new "method" I would pick starforce and I hate it, it the simply the lesser of 2 evils
  5. BT in the UK do this as well (largest ISP)
  6. Some good points raised about the starforce having many backup methods Is it ok to discuss DRM ..... and hockey teams in the thread or is that off topic?
  7. Correct, if the company is going swirly the software engineers will be updating their CV's and filling in job applications, not writing a patch to remove the DRM
  8. If in DCS your FPS drops from 60 to 45, it will mask that and you wont suffer
  9. Maybe ED could run a 24/7 phone support line to help customers out in this situation ?
  10. The people most effected by this, are most likely offline right as I type this Then when they return to civilisation or area with net connectivity and update they will have a very very bad surprise
  11. Err, changing things after activation is not exactly fair is it ?
  12. As long as they offer an alternative eg refunds
  13. You asked when would I be away next, I stated unsure, things can change
  14. Checks crystal ball , sorry cannot tell future
  15. Thats because I have not had to head offline for a while, but that could change at short notice
  16. So because he has connection at this momnet in time, that means he will forever have 100% working connection to the net ?
  17. Cannot believe what I am about to do , defend starforce Starforce asks you once at activation The new system asks you every 4 days then disables your software if it cannot phone home
  18. By NOT telling people about this in the pre-purchase period it seems kinda dodgy behaviour, surely this change would have been discussed at length before just dropping it on us the day of a modules release Is it because it might have effected sales of that module ? I agree with Dudikoff, changing the goal posts after we have paid money in good faith is bad for ED's reputation and coming so soon after Matts heartfelt outpooring as well , makes me sad
  19. The new system as many have pointed out will not work better for them It will work better for ED as it will save them money (no more paying starforce) and increase their profits From looking at how this new system operates , it is more of a kill switch type deal (anyone watch the punisher ?) Don't connect to the internet every 4 days and the legally paid for software that honest customers have is rendered useless
  20. Is this an admission that the current starforce system is not working ?
  21. So does Matt and the management team not communicate enough ? You would think they each would know exactly what is going on with the other
  22. What circumstances are there that would arise where this 3-day period will inconvenience a user to such an extent as to qualify for a serious infringement on said user's rights of use and enjoyment of the game purchased? Sometimes people can be at locations with no ability to connect to the internet for prolonged periods, thus the software we legally paid for is not available. I can understand no MP in this scenario but not disabling SP The software was sold and advertised as having to have an internet connection for activation only, this new DRM changes this significantly
  23. +1 starforce would be better than the proposed system
  24. Thanks Bignewy for the kind offer of PM but I would prefer to discuss this in the forum so as to get other opinions and get a better understanding of what is going to happen The picture below details on the left what is proposed by ED On the right is the way I (and I sure some others would like it)
