  1. There is plenty of open source data on the Harrier.
  2. Marine One is the callsign used for any USMC aircraft that has the President on board. You are correct that HMX-1 has never used a CH-53 for Presidential transport duty. Oh, and USAF PJs rock!
  3. Hellcat or Wildcat would be good, but the Air Force would never go for either.
  4. Rich is a great member of the flight sim community.
  5. Excellent stuff. Nice flying, great video editing. Thanks for the effort and sharing with the community. :icon_jook
  6. I find it difficult to believe that an Air Force crew would miss a lack of fuel in their pre-flight checklists, weight and balance calculations, and general procedures. If it is actually true they didn't have sufficient fuel, and I doubt that, then that crew is done. If it was a mechanical problem then that crew should get credit for getting that bird back on the deck with no loss of life. The investigation is being conducted and we'll know for sure shortly.
  7. Yeah, and I was posting to Ruggbutt, not you. You really want to start this circular logic drill? I quoted something that was posted in public and responded. Ruggbutt is entitled to respond if he likes, but I am also entitled to say what I said to him. When Groove posted in public it was fair game for anyone to respond.
  8. Come back? I never left. I just don't post very much. Hardly a "hammer" and rather mild I might add. Why is it your concern? I was posting to him, not you.
  9. Glad you're feeling better. :D Try a pint, it helps. :icon_jook
  10. Hi Dice, Roger that. The A-10C PE program is still being tested at Nellis. See the PM I just sent to you. Later, Carl
  11. Interesteing that that article is dated this week. The DSMS has been in the A-10C for many months. I've actually used it when I was visiting the test squadron that is flying the A-10C at Nellis a few months ago.
  12. You'll be waiting forever. I have no intention of wasting my time, or yours for that matter, on an internet forum poll. Sorry, but they don't seem to serve any useful purpose, especially when the choices for answers are as ill concieved as the one in question. Again, kind criticism that is well-intentioned. Polls like this one don't do a very good job of representing the variety of opinons that actually exist in the community. I'll take constructive discussion over any poll, anytime.
  13. Lying? Whom are you accusing of being a liar? I don't happen to believe anyone here is lying about anything.
  14. The poll answer choices are weak and don't represent how I feel. Too many editorial comments and not enough diversity in the answers. A poor poll, IMO. Take if for what it's worth in the friendly spirit intended. You can see what a positive effect it had in this thread. ;)
  15. Another example of why the combat flight sim community is its own worst enemy. Come on, you guys ALL need to lighten the hell up. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and when it comes to polls, should you choose to participate then you are limited to the answer provided that best meets your opinion. As for sim developers and designers being critical of one another's products in public: it has always been and will continue to be bad form. We all need to support one another in a friendly spirit of competition. I believe this is the case with the individuals here but the communications limits of text and a forum often do not bring out the best in all of us. I've played Blackshark. It is awesome. I have inside info on FighterOps, it is exciting and I look forward to it. Now, everyone, take hold and raise their pint glasses and start acting like a unified community! :icon_jook That is all.
  16. Boo freakin' hoo. Sounds like sour grapes. The A-10 is still a very capable platform and is being upgraded to the A-10C. Was Yugolavia a serious opponent? Hmmm.....
  17. It's either from the actual Pearl Harbor soundtrack by Hans Zimmer or from The Thin Red Line, also by Zimmer.
  18. I was at Nellis AFB a couple of weeks ago and was able to sit in an A-10C for about an hour and use the Litening II pod and the new MFCDs. The stick is almost identical to the F-16. The left throttle is the same as the A-10A and the right throttle is similar to the F-15E. The A-10C PE upgrade includes a new stick, throttle, two MFCDs that feature a Digital Stores Management System, a Tactical Awareness Display, interface with the Mavericks and the Targeting Pod. The Charlies also have a new Up Front Controller, a new Armament and HUD Control Panel, new HUD software, an updated Countermesures system, and several other improvements. It is totally cool. The A-10 will not carry Hellfires.
  19. It always bothered me that it had the F/A designation. I doubt that it would be used in the attack role as long as there are F-16s and F-35s available.
