The challenges/compromises Orbx had with trees on Kola hints as to why it might indeed be quite hard.
-
If things eventually get settled amicably and Razbam have the means, personnel and desire to pick up from where they left off then work will no doubt continue. No one can force them into doing that though.
-
What exactly do you think this obligation that must be fulfilled is? The dispute isn't about delivery of modules, the cessation of work on the existing and ongoing ones is merely a side-effect.
-
Yeah, the Razbam modules weren't reduced in any of the ED sales for months even before the dispute went fully public and tools were downed, and they haven't been reduced in sales since. As you said in a later post, sale participation for 3rd party modules is up to 3rd party (e.g. Aerges have deemed thus far that the Mirage F1 has never seen a sale reduction either)

TBH doesn't just using the pods without a waypoint tend to behave as if its locked where the line of sight intersects with terra firma (which might be slightly past the target) rather than the point on the object you've designated? Certainly i've noticed on things like bridges that you can designate the bridge deck but the pod's lock seems to pivot around a point on water surface 'through' the deck (and this becomes more apparent as you fly closer/over the target and possibly have to nudge the targeted point back a bit). Glad to be corrected but this is how its usually feels like its behaving to me. Obviously when targeting things like tanks where the elevation difference is much less then you don't notice it so much.

Not useless, but certainly compromised. I suppose its a similar situation to when a submarine uses active sonar or surface radar. If you want to remain as hidden as possible then you're stuck with using passive sensors.
-
Yeah, i'd love an extended joystick but space limitations say no. And yes, trimming is important (one of the first things I picked up in my protracted flight training).

I've adapted steering wheel pedals as rudder pedals for now (its a set with a clutch pedal so the size and spring resistance is identical for both, just need to remember to lift one foot as you press with the other!) and it works pretty well. I may treat myself to proper pedals eventually. Cyclic is a sprung desktop stick but not doing too bad with that. Definitely feel like i'm making progress, albeit slowly, and its a nice challenge. I think the hardest part is getting the muscle memory to adjust collective in the correct fashion in response to certain cyclic inputs.

I'd just focus on learning to fly it first and don't even bother trying to fight in it until you've begun to master that. I went down a similar path myself late last year (did a trial and then bought it in the Xmas Sale a couple of months later) and even with a few hours on the clock i've barely gone beyond trying to make the thing move without breaking it (and I still break it, a lot). Helos in DCS are hard, although i'm getting better at it and I usually at least know why i've cocked up (90% because i've tried to rush something) when I reduce yet another virtual $15m of hardware to a confetti of metal and composite.

The Mk20/CBU99 cluster munitions available on the Hornet have always been absolutely rubbish against proper armour, even if you get them on target. TBH I can't even remember the last time I tried using them because they're so incredibly limited in capability against all but the softest of targets. So in that sense, I wouldn't even bother trying to take a tank out with one as they just don't work. I assume they should work to some degree (i.e. be able to seriously damage/cripple an armoured vehicle even if they might not fully penetrate the hull like the skeet-based ones can) but I suspect the damage modelling in-game just isn't up to the job. As you say, the CBU97/105 cluster weapons available on other platforms are a completely different story and can be incredibly effective.

FRS1 would be the appropriate model in that case, not the FA2 (not that i'm opposed to either model being done if possible)
-
Heatblur said they'd do one eventually as a further module but other things were currently ahead of it in priority. It'd seem unlike them not to be open about it if it was some way along already. And IIRC then a naval Phantom mod made a fleeting appearance in a previous video, so I wouldn't read too much into it at this stage.
-
Also quite likely the people working on modules A and B are likely the same. So if the income not forthcoming from your work on A is significant and any money trickling down from work on B isn't enough to pay your bills, you're probably going to go off and do something else and thus both A and B grind to a halt.

I guess it depends if he bought the F-15E because it was an F-15E or because it was the closest high fidelity match they could get for an F-15C. I was personally always more interested in the E but different folk have different tastes and plenty would've preferred a C (or both) when the E came out.
-
Yes i'm sure ED didn't take the decision lightly considering it was going to cause a stink and also potentially jeopardises several modules (one of which being very new and popular). And who says that ED are seeking to fine Razbam? Reading ED's take then one interpretation might be that they're actually OK on some level with what Razbam were planning to do with ED's IP BUT only provided ED are properly compensated for it for their part. If that is the case then obviously no agreement to move forward has yet been reached. We also don't know (again, if my interpretation is correct) whether Razbam had already done something commercial with said IP or were just planning to do it.
-
Yeah, by 'add on' I meant an additional DLC rather than just a variant within the existing module like the F14 or Mirage F1 (which they were pretty clear about even before the E was released). Whether its a 'full price for everyone' thing or some discount is offered for E owners I guess is a commercial decision that would be taken much nearer the time it sees light of day.

More naval jets of any type would be good. I presumed the next along would be the A-6 and A-7 (and logical with the stuff we already have in the game) but have heard a worryingly small amount about either in recent times. I think Heatblur said a naval Phantom add-on would happen but wanted to get other things sorted first.
-
And my point was that there was going to be a Mig-23 before Razbam and ED fell out. Overall though I do agree we could use more Red Team platforms (be that Russian jets or even more of the widely exported western ones like the earlier Mirages). Its just unfortunate that the Flogger that was some way along the line to filling that gap might well not happen now.
-
Which is absolutely fine if your preference is 'FF or nothing', but the mix of fidelities has (fairly) happily coexisted in the overall platform already for years.
-
I suspect the reaction to the F-15C is because one of more of the following: - Its going to be a pure A2A platform (which I believe was cited as a reason why it hasn't been done already as it had slightly less limited appeal to a multi-role platform) - That we already have the F-15E, plus all the feelings about whether we'll ever have a finished F-15E or even still have an F-15E at all in x months time. I'm glad they're finally doing it though, even if I would prefer a finished F-15E given a straight choice (but we all know why that might not ever happen). I personally don't have an issue with pure A2A jets, especially if they're 'best of breed' ones. I believe the Typhoon we're getting will be A2A only too (at least to begin with) and i'll likely get my wallet out for that.
-
In fairness, we we were meant to be getting at least a Mig-23 before the big falling out between ED & Razbam. I doubt anyone else would have a crack at it until its 100% set that there is no way back for the one that was in progress.
-
Yeah, the only time I caught a glimpse of a Tonka was one being shot down.
-
I hear you. Yes, it'd be better in many ways if they limited these videos to things that actually had a cat in hell's chance of appearing (or at least getting very close to doing so) this calendar year. The Typhoon is at least (if I remember rightly) a very early version that is a good few years old now.
-
They could've gone a slightly different way and thrown something up like a B-1B (which I think would fit the game quite well with the ability to make really bad days for people balanced with its vulnerability). My main issue with the F-35 is just feels horribly out of place/time with the other jets either in the game or in the works. If the brief appearance of the F-117 in the video is indicative of something someone is actually working on then that would actually feel much more at home with what we have/will hopefully soon have.
