  1. The plot thickens! Lets hope the Hornet gets some love before too long. Fingers crossed
  2. Thanks for the answers. So, the real one can, ours can’t yet. But it’s likely to be implemented in the future. Is that about right?
  3. I’m back with another question and it is as follows… Just reading the news letter about the F16s ability to share target info (ground targets by the sound of it) over datalink and was wondering if the Hornet can do the same thing? I’m hoping the answer is yes
  4. Great thanks, I was looking in the roadmap thread. Doh! I have further questions Whats Gen-X? (other than someone who likes listening to Nirvana) Tunning, what do we think that means with things such as radar? Also it mentions MSI so I guess the thing on Reddit was wrong Thanks again
  5. Could someone please point me in the direction of a rundown of where the Hornet is at and what’s still left to be done? There’s a roadmap from a few years ago but I get the feeling things may have changed. Eg I read something on Reddit the other day that said we are no longer going to get MSI, is that true? Is it nearly complete, barring bug fixes, or is there still a fair bit of stuff that needs to be added? Thanks
  6. I understand, but as a consumer it’s important for me to know where my money goes. Agreed, they absolutely are not responsible for a governments actions, just like the rest of us. It’s just who they pay there taxes to, and then what those taxes get spent on. No need to say more than that, and we are each able to make our own decisions.
  7. ED is based in Switzerland right? Which means all tax is paid to the Swiss government, right? just checking
  8. Unless I’ve misunderstood your post, Flares are to counter IR guided missiles (eg Sidewinder) and Chaff counters radar guided missiles (eg Aim 120). A flare will have no effect on a radar guided missile and chaff will have no effect on a IR guided missiles (at least as far as I know.) You can set the amount of chaff or flares that get released with each button press, the more released the better the chances of defeating the missile but the sooner you run out of counter measures. Also you need to execute evasive manoeuvres as well, just dumping the counter measures probably won’t be enough on there own. Apologies if I’ve misunderstood your post and am teaching my grandmother to suck eggs.
  9. What I don’t understand is why the AGM 65E also makes my frame rate drop? There’s no video display yet it is the same performance hit as the F with a video display.
  10. I need much practice at AAR, mainly staying plugged in. But getting in the basket I find much easier now. I wouldn’t totally ignore the basket, just focus on the pod and use peripheral vision for the basket. If you are watching TV you can still keep track of where your kids are in the room (and more importantly what they are doing) using the same method. Its like 90% of your brain/eyeballs power (whatever that means) is focused on the pod and the other 10% on the basket. If those numbers start going the other way PIO quickly follows.
  11. First off, sorry it’s taken me awhile to reply. My memory is not what it once was haha. I’m 42 and I love it! But would I if I first came across 40k now? (I was 10 when I first saw a GW shop) I don’t know. Also I’m probably still 13 in my head. For me it provides a creative outlet as well as a fully fleshed out fantasy world to lose myself in. GW would have to do something pretty awful to lose me as a customer, but let’s not tempt fate. Haha that jpeg is so very true! And thank you for introducing me to the videos of Alfabusa, I’ll deffo be checking those out. Again, true. I think they may have seen the error of there ways though, but only time will tell. And all in the name of Warhammer+ Dear oh dear. Too right! Can we see them please? I used to have a Blood Angel army and they are probably my fav chapter. But as I said above, they take too long to paint. Maybe when the kids have grown up I’ll give it another shot. And Dark Angels was the army i chose when I got back into the hobby at the ripe old age of 35. But let’s be honest, Imperial Guard is where it’s at!
  12. This is a great story! How cool for him to find something that goes some way to realising an unfulfilled dream. I suppose that is the magic of DCS for so many of us. But few of us got that close to the jets we wanted to fly. I bet he gets into AA stuff eventually, coming from the A10C to the Hornet I had no interest in AA. Well more like I was intimidated by it, but it doesn’t take too long till you realise you’re only allowing yourself 50% of the fun on offer. I hope you both have a great time Ps. Hornet all day long. It’s a Swiss Army knife capable of supersonic flight
  13. I’d humbly ask that we get the option for jester to adjust the zoom level. Sometimes I use the pod for recon purposes whist carrying dumb bombs, at which point a tight zoom on a single unit is not what I’m after. Same goes for FAC(A) stuff (if I had friends to fly with). We can ask Jester to do things with the radar that a real rio would be doing of there own accord and I feel the same principle applies here. Jester is great but at the end of the day he is some lines of code (very clever code mind you) not a highly trained human. Also while I’m at it, the Qhead mode can get very tricky. Though I have no idea what a better solution would be. I find the current method requires too much ‘head down’ time. All that being said I’m totally smitten by the Tomcat, thank you for such a fantastic module.
  14. It depends what VR headset you are using. For example my Rift S worked great with my 1080ti but it was not any where near enough when I bought a G2 (at least if you want the G2 to look better than the Rift S). I currently have a 3090 and am very pleased with it but I still feel it only just manages (@100% SS with x2 MSAA using various mods such as FSR and a shader mod). What headset are you using? As for cpu I’m also very happy my 5900x and I bet the 5800x would be a good shout too.
  15. Intriguing, care to elaborate? There’s a guy on YouTube who posts videos about his time working for GW, he’s not got many nice things to say about it either. Maybe it’s best not to look behind the wizards curtain as it were. I think Warhammer fans have a strong connection to the ip, and unlike most other things we choose to spend our hard earned money on it can feel like a betrayal when we discover GW is up to crappy things, such as banning fan made animations (to pick just one.) I think DCS is similar to Warhammer (for me at least) as in it transcends being simply a product that we buy. I couldn’t give up either, they mean too much to me. Maybe some of it has to do with the amount of time and commitment required to get the most out of either hobby coupled with a product that transports us to a place we want/like to be? Be it the cockpit of a fighter jet or the grim darkness of the 41st millennium. It can be tough when love and passion collides with the business of making money.
  16. Haha ain’t that the truth! Changing the fans is meant to help but I think I’ll wait till I can buy a new case and MB as well. It’s not so bad at the moment because it’s winter (cpu temp last night was pretty solidly 68oC) but yeah it gets hotter in summer. So far I think I’ve only seen 90 once and only for a second or two. thanks for the advice
  17. I’m in the UK. I get to play when the kids have gone to bed, so usually 8:30pm. One of the things that has kept me away from mp, apart from knowing I’m going to spend most of my time as a smoking hole in the ground is I’m reliant on the VR shader mod. And I can’t get the Simplex one to work (that’s the one that passes ic check).
  18. Thanks, no I didn’t work at GW though I getting paid to paint models and playing 40k all day does sound good. Did you work there then? Steel legion, nice! I’ve got a Cadian army but I would love a Tanith regiment. I’m basing my Black Templars on the (3rd?) war for Armageddon. Also would love a Blood Angel army but painting red takes too long. Those guys above were painted as blood angels, but I re did them as black templars. I’m still a bit sad about that
  19. Tee hee My bro has a space ork army, Bad Moons lotsa teef etc. I’ve just started painting my primaries marines as Black Templars Just gotta paint the base rims black
  20. Me too
  21. Green skins! I feel it’s only fair to warn you I have reported your post to the local branch of the Ordo Xenos. Please be at home tomorrow between 9am - 6pm for a visit from the regional Deathwatch Kill Team. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Suffer Not The Alien To Live
  22. I just thought I’d chime in RE temps with my 5900. When playing DCS it’ll be anywhere between 62oC and 85oC (think it once went to 89oC). This had me concerned as that seemed like it was too hot but I read something on PCGamer that AMD said even 90+ is fine and what they expect. That being said cooler is obviously better but I’m a little less concerned now. Also I don’t see any increase in cpu frame times when the temp goes up. I have an Alienware Aurora R10 (only way I could get a 3090 at a “reasonable” price) so I’m aware the cooling I have, though an aio, is going to be sub optimal but so far I’m happy with it and it gets the job done for DCS and my G2. I hope one day to move its guts to a better case one day. Edit. Was playing last night and my cpu temp was 68oC
  23. He’s into Warhammer! What a legend. I’ve just found this out so I’m a little giddy, apologies. If you read this @Casmo, would you swap an AH64 for a Thunderhawk gunship? Also I’d love to see some of your models, maybe some vids on the channel? The Emperor Protects!
  24. Thanks, I’ve never used discord (not entirely sure what it is tbh) is it straight forward? Sick! May I ask what of? I’ve just found out (2 minutes ago) that Casmo is a Warhammer fan too! One of us, one of us…
