  1. Ive posted in that thread too Honestly check out the VR shader mod if you haven’t already, it really helps. So does the FSR one but that one has a more noticeable effect on the visuals imho. I use both though and now I can fly the Mossie without getting a headache
  2. I think I know why you guys are hesitant to give us time frames for this kind of stuff; things happen, it slips and then people get frustrated. But I really think at this point it would be more productive to give us a bit more of an insight into how this is going, if not a “release date”. The trend in DCS is clear to see and most of us with VR headsets have bought 30 series cards and still we are having to tinker and mod the game to get it running ok. I said in another thread earlier today that lowering gfx/expectations reaches a point where the sim can become an unpleasant experience. No one wants that, right? Also if you buy a G2 you hope you don’t have to make it look like a Rift S before it’s usable. Though I know you don’t want to disappoint your customers I’m also sure you don’t want them to give up hope either?
  3. Thanks dokken1212! I’ll take anything I can get, knowledge is power and all that
  4. Speed of Heat has fixed it (good man!) Check the links in his sig, I downloaded it last night and it works great
  5. Right, I’ll be doing that then. My rudder pedals seem to sensitive in every aircraft I own (CH Pro pedals) Just need one for the pitch now, I can’t nose down at all without the engines cutting out. Is there any good books or YouTube vids on how to fly Ground attack missions in this period of history? There’s loads of stuff on dogfighting on the internet but can’t find much on this subject. I’m wondering what altitude I should be at, shallow dive or steep dive, best way to roll in on the target without the engines having a quick tea break etc etc.
  6. Indeed a good idea
  7. This. It tempers my excitement for new modules, such as the AH64. I’m right on the edge of what I find acceptable in the performance/visual quality equation. It’s all well and good saying lower your settings/expectations but some things drastically reduce enjoyment of the sim by making it an uncomfortable experience, such as unreadable instruments/mfds and/or eye strain brought on by too much shimmering. I’m still confident ED has something up there sleeves to address this though.
  8. ....Oh god I can’t even hit the barrel! So there was me thinking shooting up trucks on a road in the Mossie was going to be much easier than trying to shoot down a 109K in a Spitfire. Wrong! My only successes so far have come by flying all the bullets directly into the truck at once, this works ofc but I don’t feel like the kamikaze approach is in keeping with RAF tactics of the time, and keeps making my poor old virtual mum very sad. Does anyone have any advice to share on how to fly this plane effectively? Good curves for a TM Warthog? Boy that pitch is sensitive and I’ve never messed with curves before. Any help/links and or reading material would be hugely appreciated, by me and my poor old virtual mum, she doesn’t want any more telegrams telling her her son is scattered across another French field (but at least he took a truck with him!) Thanks
  9. I’ve noticed the same performance difference between the Spit and the Mossie, but there must be a lot more polys etc in the Mossie cockpit so it makes sense. I’m on a bit of a WW2 trip at the moment and going from the Jets even to the Spitfire on Normandy let alone the channel I have to drop my gfx settings down. The nature of the flying makes performance drops much more noticeable, be it down low in the Mossie or lots of hard turns and fast moving objects flying past. I’ve got a G2, 3090, 5900x and 32 gb of RAM. I’ve got SS at 80%, PD 1, 2x msaa, high vis range and clouds set to standard. Am using the VR shader mod and the FSR mod. It doesn’t look as nice as it does without the mods but my GPU frame time stays in the low to mid teens 99% of the time even down low. This will do for now, until ED get DCS running a bit better in VR which I’m sure will happen. Me too
  10. By lowering gfx settings/SS (70%) and a handful of mods I got to a good place with the Spitfire. And the map is my fav to fly around. But the Mossie seems to be a fair bit more demanding. I can’t seem to get decent performance, doesn’t help that you kind of have to fly down low. Also doesn’t help that the vr shader mod doesn’t work on this map for me since the update. I suppose what I’m saying is it’s probably not just the maps fault. G2 and 3090/5900x
  11. I’ve had a go today and though the Caucasus loads neither the channel or Normandy will. Haven’t tried the others as of yet. I’ve lowered my gfx so it’s playable in the Spitfire (channel map that is) but the mossie is a bit more demanding so would be great if the mod could work again.
  12. I’ve had this error too, mods installed at the time were Clear water shaders mod, FSR, Universal Shader, and the medium shadows mod (can’t remember the name). I disabled them and ran a full repair and then I could load into the channel map. Wasn’t sure which was causing the error as didn’t have time to experiment. Going to have a little tinker today but it looks like it’s the shader mod I suppose. In my excitement to download the Mossie I forgot to disable my mods before downloading the update, doh!
  13. Haha brilliant! Seagulls, Seagulls etc (never really liked football, I’d be found down the seafront with my skateboard, though I did go to the Goldstone a couple of times.) Great place to live but house prices are ridiculous, hence the move to Worthing. I miss it though and all (well most) of it’s hundreds of pubs and bars. But I’m embarrassed to say I know next to nothing of its ww2 history, I was always a bit disappointed as a kid as I thought it didn’t have any, silly me. I now have to quickly think of something on topic so I don’t get shouted at... ...er... .....can’t wait to get in the mossie latter tonight when the family are asleep. phew, that was close
  14. I’m a Brightonian too! (Currently living in exile in Worthing.) I’d be over the moon if Brighton got added to the map but I’d be very surprised. Fascinating stuff there! I had no idea and I lived there for 35 years. Do you know what streets got strafed/ bombed?
  15. That’s good news, shame you had to feel uncomfortable asking the question though.
  16. I’ve had a couple of shandys so I’m posting again. The difference in performance requirements vary greatly between the modern jets and the warbirds in my experience. I must subconsciously be a gluten for punishment because almost as soon as I’d got things dialled in for the F 18 and 16 I got the jdam blues and decided to go back to learning the Spitfire having begun that endeavour at the start of last year but then COVID happened and the schools got closed and my free time was promptly despatched. A combination of the type of flying required and the nature of the maps and also probably the number of aircraft involved means what was an acceptable frame rate/time in a F 16 is a pretty wretched experience in a dogfight whilst flying a Spitfire
  17. Ive recently done exactly that (a bit more in fact, actually quite a bit more because it was pounds Sterling) and I’m fine with it because now I can use my G2. But if I were you I’d wait till at least the end of the year to upgrade, just in case they do release the 4000 series RTX this year. I really hope they don’t for obvious reasons hehe. I am hopeful for the future though, and I think it’s because of the Marianas map. I’ve not tried it as I’m sure it won’t be a pleasant experience on my measly 3090 and 5900x with 32gb of ram But if ED are creating maps with such levels of detail and things like the Apache, which looks like a lot of polygons and systems at play, not to mention a dynamic campaign, they know that they need a framework that will be able to support all there hard work in all its majesty. Only a 24 crt buffoon builds a magnificent palace in a swamp, and ED are clearly Not buffoons.
  18. Oh I’m married with kids, hoping my wife doesn’t see this! (I think I’m probably safe )
  19. I love DCS but it can feel like I’m in a relationship with a girl with VERY expensive tastes, who at this point I’m pretty sure doesn’t like me as much as I like her. But I’m smitten. Though things are as they are at the moment, for the first time I’m feeling confident that things are going to get better.
  20. Having had a few goes on it now I think A) it looks fantastic (though some colours seem a bit off) B) it’s really quite small. I do chuckle to myself about it compared to other maps. In most of these you have multiple countries (though usually only one whole country.) With this map you basically get Kent with a side helping of East Sussex! A county and a half! Hehe It’s still great though. Just wish performance down low was a bit better as that’s where I’ll be most of the time once I get my paws on the mossie. Quick edit. Would love to see it extended to Tangmere but that seems very unlikely considering the Normandy map exists (though southern England on that map apparently has a population on 35)
  21. Try Liberation, it’s bloody good!
  22. Oh this one is a conundrum, at first I was really impressed. The perf boost is great but I do not like what it does to the mfds or the clouds (set to standard, ultra is fine but then I lose the performance boost.) Everything else looks fine but those two things are a bit of a dealbreaker for me. But I can see this being great for warbird flying so I’m going to keep it for that. just my 2 pence worth.
  23. I’m an idiot with rotten eyes, nothing more.
  24. HUZAH! thanks chaps, I better get downloading
  25. I run Liberation and DCE campaigns on a dedicated server (my 2nd pc) to improve performance. I haven’t installed the latest patch as it takes me a while to download and I’m using the VR shader mod so like to avoid re compiling all the shaders if I can. So those are my excuses out of the way. Is it working correctly now? I can’t fly any missions from those campaigns at the mo because of this, so very much looking forward to it being fixed. Thanks in advance
