  1. In 2.5.1.16978, after modifying my control axes curves and saving settings. The game GUI just goes black. Sound still plays. I'm able to kill game with task manager.
  2. I think the main thing is to ignore the "WPN FAIL" message on the stores page. Aside from that everything is working like patch before last for me.
  3. On multiplayer server (2.5.1.beta), I kept seeing the "18" symbol on the RWR display. As far as I could tell, there were no F/A-18s. Is there any other radar that could show that cause that symbol to show?
  4. +1 to adjusting the contrast or giving us the tools to adjust the contrast if this is an intended feature.
  5. This is a known issue in 2.5.1. You'll have to use v2.5.0 to learn the AGM-65 usage until this is fixed in the beta release.
  6. Withdrawn! I didn't realize rocket pods had covers that had to be popped. The dark spot on the tip of the pod cover looks a bit like a lens.
  7. I thought might be part of the problem, but the ordinance doesn't appear to be correct to me. I'll admit I don't have a lot of experience with the pods though.
  8. In the latest 2.5.1 beta, I armed my inner pylons with rockets on LHA-1, but I have bombs on the stations. The stores page shows bombs. Trying to use the rockets gives me an error. I also armed with GBU-12s which worked, and Mk-20s which also worked.
  9. In the latest 2.5.1 beta, the landing hover light switch turns on the light, but there appears to be no difference in the lights behavior between landing and hover positions.
  10. There must be a common issue with PBR and reflections at night. Another game I play has a similar issue with reflection intensity. It looks great, but no one can see anything at a reasonable range. For me in DCS this shows up primarily in the useful range landing lights. I don't have an VR gear so I can't comment. Turning off deferred shading isn't a good option on a multiplayer server when the time changes cause dark-to-day transitions and vice versa.
  11. Will oil & gas platforms be include as map points of interest? If so, will they be destructible?

From just some basic physics and basic detection theory it seems like SA-15s and SA-13s should be detectable from farther away than what I'm experiencing in operation longbow (the 104th's server mission). RF falls off at 1/R^2 1-way, 1/R^4 2-way. EW receivers get the benefit of 1/R^2 for signal strength at the receiver. There are other factors, which could be modeled, I'm trying to keep this basic. 1) How does DCS model radar transmissions & RWR receivers? 2) Is this a current issue with the harrier only? 3) Are the RED SAMS in Op. Longbow setup to turn on only when players are within a certain range?
  13. I don't know that I would expect anything from light carrier. You need heavier aircraft for AWACS and refueling, maybe you'll see what you want when the F/A-18 releases.

    Taxi Lights

    The taxi/hover lights fold up. Position and anti collision lights are still visible. I don't think there is any harm in leaving g your main lights on in the sim. However, I do turn my main lights switch to off so my position lights are off and I can't be easily spotted visually.
  15. Do you have the DMT switch set to on the center panel (next to the INS rotary)? I had trouble until I realized this switch was important. The TPOD has to have TDC selection on the MFD to slew. The DMT will not slew if TDC is selected for the TPOD. You can only slew 1 at a time. For me, the targeting pod works as long as it is aimed at the ground to start. When it is aimed at air starting out it is uncontrollable. I'm able to use the zoom and field of view to search effectively at greater than 20 miles. The DMT just doesn't have the same range or flexibility, but I find it to be usable. It seems like it works best when searching for targets lased by a JTAC/FAC.

    Taxi Lights

    I think it has something to do with the render settings. I noticed the same thing in 2.2 alpha and solved the problem by turning off deferred rendering. I improved the light reflection a bit with monitor settings, but overall it does seem like the lights have very dim bulbs. The colors/light reflections are spot on except for not being very bright.
  17. The F-18C's course functionality based on a TACAN is neat, but it may be more advanced that what an actual AV-8B has.
  18. If you have the TDC button active on the TPOD, DMT will not respond. Turn off TDC on the TPOD display.

    LHA Variants

    You can probably cheat and just change hull numbers on LHA-1 to LHA-5. Only the most astute observers would notice the difference. LHA-6 is a new class with a significantly different topside. LHA-8 will have some noticeable differences from LHA-6 too. It just depends on how accurate you want the topside visuals to be. I have a question that is related, but not this subject. Is radar rotation going to be animated in the future?

  22. I can't seem to get past this mission for one reason or another. Either a wingman gets killed or DCS 2.2.0.12248 crashes. It seems like the crashes have occurred every time I succeeded. This last time, I was constantly checking the logs and have 0 blue aircraft losses. The crash appears to occur right after Chevy 6 calls vul+20. This is a very frustrating experience in what is otherwise a very fun campaign. Replays for legitimate failure are one thing, but there doesn't appear to be anyway to progress when I succeed. A little help, or information that i just need to wait until the next alpha release would be appreciated.
