Missing target reticle HUD limits
MysteriousHonza replied to gnomechild's topic in Bugs and Problems
So, ive tried it in MP session and it shows the box only in certain portions of gunsight. The moment i start rolling, box dissapears. It should stay in sight. Even if realistic that we have to move head a lot, its game, its 2D environment for most of us, some compromises could/should be made to make it easier to see in 2D cuz RN, its more of luck than constant thing, to see the box. Its either not there at all or only small fraction is visible so its almost impossible to notice it and it seems it works, ONLY in horizontal plane, The moment box travels up/down, it disappears -
They have access to performance books due to spanish air force. We dont have anything tho.

Exept there are none publicly available for F1. Its easier to get em diagrams for 4th gens still in service than for F1.

Missing target reticle HUD limits
MysteriousHonza replied to gnomechild's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi, may i ask how high on fix list it is? Lets say its pretty damn important in AA combat while using only radar and its highly uncomfortable to use it in bvr without knowing where exactly enemy is compared to your nose. It was fine with short ranged R530 but now with S530F. Its pretty "gamebraking". -
As of now, is full fid spo-15 still planned?
-
Other good options would be -Modifyable countermesures programs in special option like on JF-17. -Volume slider for ALR-300 sound in EE/M (i can barely hear it talking). -Ability to select only messages for me from AWACS, due to no IFF, declare is extremely important but when awacs spams everything, you cant realistically get declare back.

This is amazing, thanks for info.

Hello, do you plan to change parameters of R3S too? Currently it can aquire targets from too large angles, basically side aspect and partially can guide in frontal hemisphere. Its Gs are 16 and have different range (sorter)/engine power to 9B and even eccm (irccm) which sits at 15 times better value (better than 9L and near R73 and 9M) even though it should be near identical to 9B. CW servers are getting quite popular nowadays so it would be nice to have correct weapons, most of mig21 missiles are wrong in some aspects and share same values.

It looks amazing, shame they are not official part of module. Good job. -
R530 family and its current greatest problem/s
MysteriousHonza replied to MysteriousHonza's topic in Bugs and Problems
Serious overperformance of R530EM/IR. Honestly, track file shouldnt be needed. All you need to do is sit in plane and launch on ai in high angle off. Thats all. You get same result. -
Currently R530, mainly EM have many problems in case of capabilities. It was thought to be extremely bad against maneuvering targets, especially fighters. It scored one AA kill in its history AFAIK and currently in DCS, its like slow R73. There are obvious limitations what DCS can do and cant do which have to be taken in count. Most glaring issues currently are its "snap" capabilities right off rail with full pull and its look down shoot down capabilites (iam quite confident it cant be really solved in dcs as long as radar keeps lock in that scenario so i wont get into this). Manual for Australian AF states that After leaving rail, it takes 2.5 seconds before missile gets its full potential in controls, takes atleast 4 secs of flight time to arm and has to achieve certain acceleration to arm. R530EM on Mirage III and F1 is essentialy exactly the same thing and that 2,5 secs unlocking is perfectly fitting for boost stage of that missile which takes 2,5 seconds aswell. None of these things are currently present ingame. To the hell with arming, iam not aware of single missile doing it in DCS but the main culprit here, is its maneuverbility right off rail. Its guidance is unlocked only 0.5 seconds after leaving rail which often leads to missile pulling absurd maneuvers and crossing nose of the plane by only few inches. Iam not aware of missiles API supporting gradual unlocking of "G limits" so some middle ground has to be achieved between unguided and guided flight to simply eliminate those huge issues creating absurdly unrealistic behavior. What i propose is time somewhere between 1.25-2 seconds so its not literally dogfight missile. (cases of it below in clips) https://streamable.com/7korhu https://streamable.com/kqocmy Another visible problem in these clips is, shadowed missile by airframe is leaving rail, it shouldnt be able to see targets returns to be guided. Not to mention target might be even out of missiles gimbal limits while being launched. I dont know if Alignment and lockon time of seeker head can be simulated as described below. Whole R/S530 family is LOBL - Lock on before launch weapon system which means its necessary for seeker to see returns of target. In case of F1, radar produces specific freq to guide R/S530 right during lockon so it shouldnt give launch warning due to LOBL. From F1ED manual

Ive reported that elevation bug on forum like week after release. Its still there so dont have hopes for fast fix. Gyro-ant switch switches between logic of gunsight pipper. In gyro, radar delivers info only about range. In ant, radar delivers more info, range, vector and all this stuff so reticle is waaay more accurate.

I cant find it in lua, i dont think its in the game yet, dunno which S530F you meant in DCS.

Good, that part is right in DCS, managed to blast myself down by pressing trigger twice by mistake....

It gets full authority after booster is out, not sustain tho. It have full authority on sustain. It shouldn't be able to detonate until 4 secs after launch tho. Impact? Probably yes and deal some serious damage but not explode.

Mirage F-1 should it fly like an drunk paralytic ?
MysteriousHonza replied to 303_Vins's topic in Bugs and Problems
I think ive got this problem too even when using smooth imputs on precise virpil base. I believe its due to how they did "ingame" stick and stabs. Aka, you are in max pull ingame while using half of your real life HW axis which is nuts. (check it by when stick in cockpit stops, you still have massive ammount of throw left to your real HW) -
The thing is, only "battery" got changed and more powerful power supply increased servo power. Iam not sure if same thing happend to P series as they are continuation of USAF aim-9 family while 9L/M is continuation of naval one.
-
Yea, same opinion on ED P winders. I even think P-P3 are kida same exept engine, arent they (seekers, servos, and while guidance units)?

That picture is literally from real F1 manual.

What the hell is gyro - antenna then because formulation of that sentence in changelog implies that there is different mode than gyro.
-
You want to tell me, that this super steady pipper is gyro? Just look at F1 how jumpy and inaccurate it is in DCS. Iam not saying i dont believe you, i do. But then what we have in DCS, is not really good representation of gyro sight.

Where on the HUD are wingtip missiles aimed at?
MysteriousHonza replied to Archi's topic in DCS: Mirage F1
That is only my experience and what i saw and how i used them, no irl stuff or manual, just my exerience , worked almost always. Esp magic I. All missiles exept 9B uncages the moment they lock on. 9B is next to impossible to use due to no indication where exactly it is and you have only super small FOV where you have to keep enemy until missile is fired. Iirc, there is no symbology for any missile. In the future atleast JULI, 530Ir and maybe, not sure, magic I will get radar slaving. The first 2 for 100%,magic I is highly unlikely. -
Its all aspect capabilities were fixed iirc, iam not able to achieve frontal hemisphere locks anymore. Its still best fox 2 for shorter ranges, i would take 9P for longer and 9J in between. WIth all 3, you basically exchange Gs - turning for range. Magic has worst range while pulling like mad while 9P has worst G pull at 16gs but superior engine and range (good for BNZ long shots i guess) and 9J is nice middle ground. Seeker wise - IRCCM, in files, it goes from 9J as worst to 9P as best. The coef. of 9J is 3.0, magic 2.0 and 9P sits at decent 1.0 where even flaring nonburning target can be hit by it, esp tomcat. R530IR is special in its own, technically it should be capable of locking targets in frontal hemisphere but ive never managed to do it even against AB mig-29. Even though it pulls "only" 16gs, its a lot due to how slow the missile is. Aka if you're in engine burn range, youre mostly dead if without flares. But its heavy and mainly, its cold range is absolutely abysmal at low altitudes where most fights are. 530EM is decent missile if you know how to use it, 530IR? I wouldnt really bother carrying it if youre not one of those who like to take absolute crap to fights and roleplay poor souls who had to use it in real life.
