  1. It was mentioned together with gunsight pipper as ant being WIP. Which leads me to believe its gunsight mode that calculates firing solution from radar returns instead of own plane movements like gyro does (radar provides only range for gyro mode) - aka same sort of system like on modern jet. I believe mirage IIIs had same/similar system, if you look on guncams of israeli mirages, its really steady pipper and it doesnt act like gyro would.
  2. Ive been looking into manual but there is only mention of the switch, not what it does. Does anyone know what exactly it does?

  4. Another thing is, it has eccm circuits to counter active jamming and passive jamming irl.
  5. This is from mirage III manual, its same missile. On F1 it was modified to work with cyrano IV radar only. It have range gating to counter basic eccm like chaff packs. What range gate does too, is ignoring returns outside the gate - ignoring ground echoes. Ofc irl it would be cluttered by side lobes and ground clutter if both plane and ground were in that gate but that would be for all missiles in dcs and they are working like in perfect environment in dcs. Even things like R-27R or aim-7F should fail horribly against low flying plane according to history.
  6. Imbalance for heaters seems to be grossly overdone, they have what, barely 100kilos? I get the chonky 530 or bombs but firing magic is like dropping 1000 pounder from other jets.

  9. Wings? The canopy would melt under that speed. Mirage 2000C is limited due to canopy mainly and antenas and stuuf, it will melt away.
  10. Afaik, it doesnt work rn, neither the 300/600 button. + magic seems to be bore sighted with gun line around heading/range tape. I was unable to achieve tone while placing target below gun line. I have achieved tone while target was literally above optical sight glass.
  11. Yea, when you gi from HA to TL, it mostly works for me, then if you go from TL to BZ, it might "work" but not as BZ as it still works as TL i think. Going bac to TL most likely breaks the thing and you have to repeat HA->TL->BZ
  12. Its not fantasy, pilots would tell the awacs crew at what heading that stt target is and if possible how high, then awacs crew would declare.
  13. Can confirm, same exact problem as on mig21 missiles where strictly rear aspect missiles are having all aspect due to cooled status which is missing on dcs R530ir even though it was cooled irl.
  14. They do work, you have to go from normal HA mode into TL and than BZ, sometimes BZ works, sometimes it doesnt, it seems its just TL as BZ should be slewable. TL is extremely inconsistent , sometimes it locks up instantly, sometimes i cant lock fighter which is hot, cold, beaming or flanking no matter what i do. We seriously need deep through manual from aerges on what cyrano IVM is, how it works, how it filters stuff, how it performs in certain modes and what to use and when and so on. We have no info whatsoever and only things we have are cyrano IV and F1ED weapon delivery manuals with different cyrano models to atleast try to guess how it actually works. That is BZ, not TL.
  15. I think they accidentally coded one more zero to the 1000 increments. Otherwise i dont know how else it should work.
  16. Hello. It seems that radar elevation in altitude mode is bugged/doesnt work or simply instead of 1000 feet increments, it jumps by 10 000 feet increments. Ive setted up a test Mirage F1 at 10 000 feet and bunch of B52s at altitude of 25 000 approx 35nm away so i could use TDC all the time. Dialed in +15 as for + 15 000 feets and.... nothing. Dialed back to +1 and i had them on, even at like 5nm with +1 or +2, i still had them on scope, which should be wrong and i should have had +15 to see them for the whole duration. It seems like in altitude mode, instead of 1000 increment, its miswritten to 10 000, which is absolutely unusable. For the whole time on the pics below, i had either +1 or +2 as for + 1000 or 2000. Bombers were approx 15000 feets above me.
  17. Its WIP i guess as there should be missile flight time if missiles selected where alt scale is or to closure with guns.
  18. Hi, may i ask how does it look with proposed changes (M8 API)? Is it ingame and did i missed it in changelog or not yet. Or its not going to be implemented.

  21. closing speed is kinda high and it takes about 3-5 seconds after pressing trigger to feed AIM54 with all needed data and lauch, so if you are shooting at fast closing target at 60nm, in reality, you are shooting at +- 55nm
  22. I dont have this problem with human rio, with jester iam crashing with PAL and hard locking targets, if there is human rio, he crashes all the time while we use PAL to lock a target.

  24. 100 miles shots were never tested against cruise missiles and radar IRL in TWS was able to provide track on bomber sized targets at these ranges, +- 70 miles for fighter sized targets.

This system in tomcat is very simple and iam pretty sure that it wont change with altitude and probably even speed, iam not even using it, just learn how missiles performs, hot nonmaneuvering target can be hit by 20-25nm shot from higher altitude like 25-30 angels, low altitude at hot target about 10-15 nm with help of all possible gods, more likely 10-12, always try to go higher if you know that enemy wont be maneuvering, it will help the missile significantly. You can even make kill at 80nm with AIM54's on mp when launching in high alt, even when F-14 shouldnt be able to engage fighter sized targets on these ranges.
