Problems With Foxy and TrackIR
Maverick-GER- replied to Nightcargo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Did you load your foxy profile into your cougar ? Did you tell your .tmj file what .tmm file to use? (Little hint to get RCTRL LCTRL and such to work properly, update your foxy and joystick drivers) Now to track IR, Do you have the latest version of Track IR? if not please update! And dont forget to restart the application after update -
Should I buy: Logitech , Saitek or Thrustmaster ?
Maverick-GER- replied to jib's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
well he states above that he cant afford a saitek x52 so how should he be able to afford a cougar.... I mean sure a cougar is the best solution in the long term ( i got mine for over 6 years and had no problems with it so far...) With the above choice I can't really help you since i didnt own any of the joysticks.. From the looks I would probably go for the thrustmaster .... Anyhow i could also just recommend you maybe to get a used cougar, x52 or even x45 Whereas the Cougar would be the best of the list =) -
I personally didnt try it out yet, but as far as i understood, it will not overshoot if you use designator mode and that it will overshoot if you dont use designator mode.... (Anyhow don't quote me with that because i am really not sure about that)

small translation for humans: (at least what i think he wants to tell us) He wants us to use a program which seems to shut down processes not used by DCS while we are in the sim and starts them back up once we leave the sim. And that would help us getting a better framerate.... And for all the other stuff he written there i also just understand some weird bla bla bla's =)

well I tried to make you a screenshot of it but you can't really see heat blur on a screenshot.... since it would only be blurry if it is moving like on a video.

ok thanks for that i always put enter in between but tried it out and it doesnt seem to be needed! I will edit my list! And to roie: You can update your flightpath in your abris if you want a visual reference, but you definately dont need to do that! As others said before me for routemode or anything that has to do with the helicopter flying abris is completely useless. It is just some fance gadget you can look on and see where you are on the map. The ONLY thing (in my opinion) the ABRIS is really useful for is for Datalink stuff! That's where i see the biggest difference between russian and american aircraft... In russian aircraft new stuff gets bolted in the airframe and it is just there, in american aircraft if they put something new in it is usually working together with other systems.

Also everytime your autohover goes crazy check if your autopilot channels are engaged, a few times already it happened to me that engaging my autohover it somehow disabled my heading, pitch and bank hold and only had alt mode on....it even did that repeatable 3 or 4 times before it would finally leave my AP channels on when engaging Autohover

OK so here a little step by step guide... 1. turn your Nav Master Mode switch to BBOA (edit waypoint) 2. click on NNM (top left PVI button) to turn on waypoint mode (it will also show you the number of stored waypoints on the top right) 3. click on 1 for the first waypoint 4. click on BBOA (Nav enter) on PVI 5. click on 0 (for a positive value) 6. enter coordinate (7. (press BBOA (Nav enter) after first part of coordinate) edited because it's not needed!) 8. press to times 0 (for a positive value and first number of second coordinate which always starts with 0 ) 9 type in rest of coordinate and press BBOA (Nav Enter) again 10. repeat if needed for more waypoints 11. once you got all waypoints entered switch your Nav master Mode back to PAS 12. click on NNM again for waypoint mode 13. click on 1 for your first waypoint (which will now show the coordinates you entered) 14. engage route mode and it will follow the new coordinates now

Paddles for rudders
Maverick-GER- replied to Blacknemisis's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well sure as DragonRR says it will take a bit of time to get used to as every new hardware will take some time. But i wouldn't wanna fly without pedals anymore (as with every other hardware i have to fly with) I have the pedals for around 4 years now i think and they always did a good job. Only 2 things i dont like about my CH Pro pedals are: 1. Toebrakes not working since i gotten the gameport version and plugged them into my hotas cougar (i know there is a workaround but i dont wanna do anything wrong and screw them up lol) 2. they are too close together I heard the saitek pedals are further apart already. -
what i can say by watching the videos and the screenshots: 1. It looks way too clean (no wearing or anything) 2. Graphics look bad 3. You can't blow anything up =) So even tho i love the tomcat (as you can see in my sig) I wouldnt go for FSX and not for this addon/mod. I still hope ED will release a Tomcat some day.

Looks like the laser cue for me tho... with under it the 03 seconds until laser is ready again

2-59 in the manual explains the PVI in general, Point 11 will be the most interesting for you: And another little hint for you... coordinates in DCS are always Positive! If you need a bit more help for that you can send me a PM and i open a server for us and will explain that on the server again =)

Paddles for rudders
Maverick-GER- replied to Blacknemisis's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well i used a twist handle at the start and later on buttons on my joystick... but nothing compares to rudder pedals... the huge differences are: 1. You got way more control of the rudder using pedals, you can do really really slight adjustments 2. The immersion factor (3. More space for other controls on your joystick) btw i am using Ch Pro rudder pedals -
well something needs to be done i was playing for a few hours now on the dcs mercenaries server ( CAT a nice server you got there) but there are just too much TKers (teamkillers) out there. A IP Ban is crap and doesnt help at all because most have a dynamic ip that will change if they restart their router. (but it would be a good start anyhow). Best way to go for would be banning a game ID or something...(ban for lifetime is what i would be looking for) Another good thing for the beginning would be some kind of auto-kick for negative score. (and in the future something like 3 x auto kick = auto permanent ban via game ID or something like that) (those bans could also be shared with other server owners, most know each other anyhow, and this would render DCS Multiplayer kinda useless for the teamkiller and that would hurt them at least!)

landing light : not illuminate the ground
Maverick-GER- replied to ovof666's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
it's the fog option that you probably changed... reducing foog also makes landing light not visible! -
OT: just watched your freestylin' video, too bad computer graphics arent that beautiful yet lol btw. cant you mount some guns and blow up a van lol wanna compare the explosion effects rofl

OT: Which OS do you use for gaming?
Maverick-GER- replied to Aeroscout's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
As far as i know Vista doesnt even support quad cores (might be wrong on that one) , but i think i have heard a lot of times that only windows 7 will be able to use all 4 cores right... @Icarus2 Vista seems to be running quite ok now, but it is far from perfect... and probably wont get any better anymore since vista was/is just a test for windows 7. And windows 7 will hit the marked this year as far as i read... Ok now the first thing that I didnt like about windows vista is the excessive amount of ram used just for the OS! Still hearing about a lot of driver issues with windows vista (if that game dont work use driver x.xx and for the other game use driver y.yy) and so on. For me Vista was just never completely done (and the reason for it, is what i stated above, that it is just testing for windows 7) Sure there are people who like their vista and if they want it they can have it =) And I am not affraid of a change (already looking forward to windows 7 release). But if someone asks me what i recommend, i can only recommend xp or windows 7 beta ( even that beta version is better already than vista ever was in my eyes) -
and what does that have to do with CCIP? CCIP = Continously Calculated Impact Point (which the ka-50 just doesn't have!) There might be a pipper yes but the above statement would just work if you fly straight with a certain airspeed and a certain altitude. As stated a lot of times before bombing with a ka-50 works like with a ww2 fighter-bomber... Guess when to release and when you release , hope it hits! Or hover over a target when you drop a bomb =) If you want CCIP you will have to wait for the A-10 =)

OT: Which OS do you use for gaming?
Maverick-GER- replied to Aeroscout's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Some people seem to forget that Vista never was planned as a fully working and bug free OS =) It was just a kinda big beta test for windows 7, that's why i never went for vista in the first place. So it should be either XP (home or prof) or windows 7! (So far Windows 7 has better fps as xp or vista and overall its a lot quicker and that already in the first beta, without using a crazy amount of RAM like vista does) -
Merry Christmas !!

In other words you want a newer version of falcon 4 lol but i feel just like you multirole fighters instead of helis ! =) Merry Christmas

1 thing i found that may be wrong in your checklist regarding the SAI (Standby Attitude Indicator) you uncage it before takeoff and cage it when landing, but that post from a ED guy tells me that that would be wrong, since the SAI would go haywire after like 30 minutes of flight... http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=581063&postcount=5 but other than that I didnt find any mistakes by just reading through it briefly!

BlackShark necessary to run later DCS modules?
Maverick-GER- replied to Squid's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I 100% agree!! The learning of the Shark was real fun but now since i learned the most things i am pretty tired of it. The Apache might be a bit more fun because of the 2 man in 1 cockpit coop factor... Anyhow bring on the fast movers, and listen to the community and bring a f-18 or f-16 (multirole) and a russian counterpart next, so there is finally some online action. Dont get me wrong I am really impressed by the great step that ed took forward already comparing dcs black shark with lock on. But if i calculate a bit with the 9 month between a new module (which is the most common timespan posted so far) it would be something like black shark in january 2008, DCS Warthog around october 2008, DCS Apache around july 2009... so we got the earliest chance to see a fast mover in April 2010.... and that would be only 1 fast mover so to have fun in multiplayer we would have to wait till january 2011 to have 2 fast movers (hopefully 1 american and 1 russian one) to have some dogfighting... Quite a long time in my eyes for some multiplayer action....
