based on what i read in the forums : It is the same thing according to autopilot. For engaging targets i prefer using holding the trim button down, since the director mode clutters up the hud too much for my taste =)
-
or keep the trim button pressed all the time...
-
And? You should be using it all the time anyhow, and its a button on your joystick ( cyclic stick) anyhow so where is the problem? Because as stated in several posts and a lot of times , Bank Hold, Pitch and Heading Hold should be engaged all the time except in emergency situations, if systems were damaged. Completely without Autopilot its no flight it is rather a fight to get the kamov fly where or better how you want it to fly. With autopilot on but trimmer button pressed you can turn however you want too but the helicopter gets at least stabilized by the autopilot, So it wont make any wild movements on you! Another thing the autopilot is good for is, once you lined up with your helicopter towards the target and aim on the ground in front of the target you can release the trimmer button and just wait for the right second to pull the trigger
-
Well if i see that right both ways = same result, if you engage the flight director mode your autopilot stabilisation is still active but no "direct autopilot input" and it is the same with keeping the trimmer button pressed or am i wrong? My way of doing it was the one alphaonesix was posting and it works pretty good (well still have to aim a bit better but thats a thing of practice...) but i can image flight director would work the same way

New forum structure: what do you think?
Maverick-GER- replied to Acedy's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
at first confusing , then just great... Lets just hope the "Announcements and Updates" forums will start filling up fast :) -
@ concrete: there are people out there with friends, and who says you can't fly it without the Radar Intercept Officer.... and also who knows if ED wont be making some kind of AI to take control of the "empty" seat? If 1 or 2 Seater would be a problem in DCS then ED wouldn't bring the AH-64A now would they? yes maybe they chose the ka-50 because it might not be possible (dont know that) to have a 2 or more seater aircraft in the current version of the game engine. Maybe they just chosen it because maybe it is the one helicopter they had the most detailed plans and best information about. Or maybe they chosen the Ka-50 because they wanted to lol =) Anyhow I am actually looking forward to have 2 or more seater aircraft to have fun with, cooperation in 1 airframe is probably even more intense then cooperation in 2 or more airframes, whereas combining both would be the ultimate coop experience. btw to the above posts as you see my location is Germany and i am born here, and i am still going crazy for the F-14 =) Sure there are a lot of nice aircraft out there that would deserve to be in DCS, i would be happy to see a f-18 too but dont know how classified it still is or not, or F-15s and F-16s, ok i am not that interested in russian aircraft but sure i am all for it to bring the according counterparts to DCS too! Anyhow it would be very nice if we get a western carrier aircraft. (this time one without a russian cockpit like the lock on F-14 lol)
-
bit offtopic now , but if you mention the F-16 as perfect think about the F-14 first, ground missions--- Check Air to Air --- Check Cooperative Gameplay with pilot and weapon officer --- Check carrier operations --- Check and since it is out of service now i would guess there is not much of the f-14 classified.

Graphics glitch when in cockpit & on the apron.
Maverick-GER- replied to TX-EcoDragon's topic in Bugs and Problems
there used to be a solution in lock on for the white circle on the ground, that one doesnt work in DCS anymore? -
You need to use your Foxy program for your cougar. Foxy is the program you can make different profiles for your cougar. What you do with it, you set a command to a joystick button in your joystick file and in your macro file you set a keyboard button to a command. (the above statement would have to be in your joystick file) if you need any more help with this , just drop me a pm and we can work on it

What standards? DCS just set the highest standards for simulators! If you compare DCS with arcade games like i dont know call of duty or something like that think about the difference of a GAME and a SIMULATION! Just think of the complexity of vehicles, weapons, terrain! I always hate to see comparisons with those games. In my opinion, just comparing DCS with Lock On the immersion did a very big step forward already!

PC hardware upgrade priority for Black Shark??
Maverick-GER- replied to V1Rotate's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I am running a E4400 at stock speeds =) -
yes it is. And what it does ... here a little quote out of the manual: Flight Director Control When in flight director mode, the task of the pilot is to maintain the angular position of the helicopter with the cyclic and the altitude with the collective by using the directors indicated on the HUD and ADI. This mode is most often used instead of automatic enroute flight. To disengage the automatic mode and enable director control, it is necessary to press the “ДИР УПР” (FLT DIR) push-light on the Autopilot panel. By disengaging automatic control, the automatic angular stabilization is disabled but damping remains for all channels.

Well masonator if you want to i can help you out a bit and teach you a thing or two. That's actually the most fun in DCS for me now to learn flying the shark and using its systems right, together with other people . So whenever you want to fly a round, just drop me a PM and maybe we can arrange some practice flights :)

well i just had my first training lesson with Schutz and i guess he liked it =) around 1 hour flying and he learned: - using intercom for communication with ground service to get weapons - using the vikhr - and using the datalink and yes he is a fast learner =)

nevermind it is on but not pointed to the ground, i can see it on on the helicopter but dont have a cone of light on the ground so i will try moving it around problem solved! it was due to haze setting to "0" in options.lua

i got a problem with those landing / search lights... it's nighttime in my mission (22:00) and if i move the switch behind the stick (Light landing Search On/Retraction/Off) nothing happens. also main or reserve Landing light doesnt work. The engines are running already and it got enough power.

Well in my opinion the more alternatives there are to TIR the better =) I personally chosen the track ir because i gotten it cheap through a mass order back then in IL2 Forums and also because back then it was like the beginnings of free track and it didnt work well for me. I dont know how good freetrack is right now since i own my TIR for a couple of years now and it never failed me. Anyhow in my eyes, the more competition = the better (lower) the prices!
